Chapter 3991: A Transcendent Arrives
Chapter 3991: A Transcendent Arrives
The next wave of arrivals made the atmosphere around the Mad Demon Depths increasingly tense.
More spatial fluctuations appeared across the distant plains, each one heralding the arrival of another powerful cultivator. Some emerged directly from teleportation formations while others tore through space using special talismans.
Their appearances caused the surrounding disciples to retreat even farther from the crater, and even the High Elders who had arrived earlier began making room.
The situation had already attracted considerable attention from the sect, and the arrival of these additional elders made it clear that the Heavenly Stream Guardian Sect was treating the incident as something far more serious than a simple disturbance.
Lin Mu stood in the center of it all with his hands behind his back.
The wind swept across the plains, carrying dust away from the massive crater he had created. The enormous breach behind him remained visible, its edges still radiating faint energy fluctuations from the violent passage of Devastator.
Every so often, a piece of loose stone would fall into the depths below, producing a distant rumble. But Lin Mu barely paid attention to it, as his eyes were focused on the people arriving.
Several of the newcomers possessed auras considerably stronger than those of the High Elders already present. Some were elders from important divisions, while others held positions that even ordinary High Elders rarely encountered directly.
Then Lin Mu felt something different and a pressure descended upon the area.
SHUA
It was subtle at first, almost like an invisible tide spreading across the heavens. Yet as it approached, the difference became increasingly obvious. The surrounding Immortal Qi seemed to grow heavier, and the space itself appeared to tighten around the approaching figure.
Lin Mu’s eyes narrowed slightly. ’Another Transcendent Immortal.’
He had sensed such auras before.
This was far from the first Transcendent Immortal he had encountered, and certainly not the most terrifying one. Lin Mu had crossed paths with beings at that level before, and he had survived encounters where the slightest mistake could have cost him his life.
As such, the pressure did not intimidate him. It did, however, tell him that the situation had escalated considerably. The sect had sent its most important authority concerning law and discipline.
Soon a figure appeared in the distance.
He walked through the air with measured steps, each one seemingly ordinary, yet every step caused the surrounding space to ripple faintly. He wore simple dark robes, and his hair was tied neatly behind his head. His face carried very little emotion, and his eyes were calm enough to make it difficult to determine what he was thinking.
"Daoist Bone Ruler..." A disciple gasped.
This man was the Head of the Law Divisions across all three courts of the Heavenly Stream Guardian Sect. He was one of the highest authorities within the sect, and his strength placed him among the top five strongest elders of the entire Heavenly Stream Guardian Sect.
His arrival caused the atmosphere to change immediately as the elders who had been arguing moments earlier fell silent. Even the disciples watching from a distance lowered their voices.
Several High Elders bowed slightly toward him. "Head."
Daoist Bone Ruler gave a small nod and his gaze passed over the assembled elders before finally settling upon the enormous figure standing beside the crater. Lin Mu met his eyes and for a brief moment, neither spoke.
Daoist Bone Ruler’s gaze was extremely sharp.
Lin Mu could feel the man’s Immortal qi and Transcendent might radiating from him. There was no deliberate attempt to suppress it, which made his arrival feel even more oppressive. Yet Lin Mu simply stood there.
His posture remained straight, his hands clasped behind his back. If anything, there was a faint trace of curiosity in his eyes.
’So this is Daoist Bone Ruler.’ Lin Mu had already learned about him through the records.
The man had existed for an extraordinarily long time and possessed an impressive record within the sect. His authority over the Law Divisions was absolute, and his reputation had been built through countless years of enforcing sect laws.
Lin Mu had also learned enough about him to understand that this was someone who would not be easily deceived. But that was fine as Lin Mu had never expected every elder to immediately accept his identity.
In fact, a little resistance was useful as it would make Zhenyu’s return seem more believable. Daoist Bone Ruler stopped several dozen meters away and turned toward the elders who had arrived first.
"What happened?" His voice was calm.
The Law Division High Elder immediately stepped forward and gave a concise report.
He explained the breach, the emergence of the unknown body cultivator, the man’s claim of being Junior Elder Zhenyu, and the information he had demonstrated regarding ancient members and events of the sect.
Several other elders added details where necessary and Daoist Bone Ruler listened without interruption. When they finished, he looked toward Lin Mu.
"So you claim to be Junior Elder Mengli Zhenyu."
Lin Mu raised an eyebrow. "I have already introduced myself."
Daoist Bone Ruler’s expression remained unchanged. "And you claim to have emerged from the Mad Demon Depths."
"I did." The answer immediately caused several elders to exchange glances.
Even though the information had already circulated among them, hearing it again in front of Daoist Bone Ruler made the absurdity of the situation feel even greater.
One elder finally could not hold back and asked, "You were really inside the Mad Demon Depths?"
Lin Mu glanced toward him. "That is what I said."
"But how?"
The elder shook his head. "That place is a prison. Nobody enters it voluntarily, and anyone sent there is practically cut off from the outside world."
Lin Mu gave a faint snort. "Then perhaps you should reconsider your understanding of the place."
The elder frowned.
Another High Elder spoke. "Even if you truly entered the Mad Demon Depths, how could you possibly survive there for more than one hundred thousand years?"
Lin Mu’s expression remained calm. "Just because you do not know how something was accomplished does not make it impossible."
