Selphira watched in horror as the Gold mutants began to violently mutate before her eyes. Their muscles swelled, tearing through their own scales. Their physical mass expanded, fueled by the premium, Platinum-grade meat they were swallowing whole.

And Ren wasn't at his best…

From a distance, he looked like an untouchable god. But up close, he was operating at perhaps thirty percent capacity, the residue of a man who had already murdered a Diamond-tier dragon, dismantled an ancient volcanic defense system, and flown halfway across the globe.

He was an incredibly powerful ally. He was the only piece on the board capable of halting a push that had previously seemed unstoppable.

But his reserves were finite, and everyone standing next to him knew it.

The wave of relief was painfully short-lived.

The moment the surviving commanders caught their breath and truly looked at Ren, the cold knot of dread returned to their stomachs.

Julius caught Selphira's eye. The silent communication passed between them in a fraction of a second. They had bought a moment of breathing room, but the war was far from over.

The Glorious General had arrived, but they still had to fight.

Julius, covered in dirt and dried blood, didn't waste a single second on pleasantries. The Qilin prince stepped forward, pointing a finger toward the churning sea of mutants.

"Ren, we absolutely cannot let them advance another inch. We have to break them right here. The beasts are trying to reach Yino's Castle. That is where all their pressure is focused. They have been pushing down this exact avenue the entire siege, completely ignoring their own casualties and refusing to flank us. They earnestly want the castle this time."

"It's the exact same pattern," Selphira added, stepping up beside Julius. Her eyes never left the end line. "This is exactly what happened during Orion's rebellion. Selthia used his chaotic push as a smokescreen to pressure the castle directly. Whatever she is truly after, it hasn't changed. She is going for the exact same prize."

Ren nodded slowly, processing the tactical overlap. His mind raced, calculating the trajectory of the swarm.

But Selphira hadn't finished.

"Ren..." Her voice dropped into that low, unforgiving register she reserved for cold truths. "We are almost entirely exhausted. Our cores are scraping the bottom of the barrel. You look like you're also tired. And in our current state, there is absolutely no way we can hold this line if Selthia keeps funneling the energy of Platinum beasts from the three new territorial rings she just conquered."

She paused, forcing the devastating reality of the board to settle over them.

"Those three new Platinum rings combined possess an area roughly equivalent to everything she has already consumed from the Gold ring downward. And the energy stored in those deep zones is ten times denser."

Ren stood perfectly still. The wind howled around them.

"If the army currently bashing against our walls is this massive and this difficult to contain," Selphira continued, her voice devoid of inflection, "then whatever she sends next is going to be infinitely worse. If what Professor Zhao delivered about what you two saw is accurate, this initial push is just a prologue. We are going to need a genuine miracle to survive the main force. Do you have any ideas?"

"It's true… And she seems to have hidden well for a while that killing the 5 elemental dragons gives her beasts elemental control now…" Ren said quietly.

He didn't try to sugarcoat it. There was absolutely no way to soften the blow.

"I also saw one more of the incubation sites," Ren admitted, his voice tight. "Half of the hyper-scaled biomass she was preparing to throw at the Fire Guardian has already started marching this way. But the other half stayed behind in the volcanic crater. They are going to keep gorging themselves on Platinum-tier meat, constantly refining their power, and that corrupted supply line is not going to stop running any time soon."

He looked out at the endless, thrashing tide of rot.

"Professor Zhao didn't exaggerate the threat for you… If anything, his report might have fallen short of the true numbers."

The heavy silence that followed his confirmation lasted barely a second. But it was the crushing silence of veterans fundamentally understanding that war was no longer in their favor. They were almost standing in front of a firing squad.

Then, Ren spoke again.

"But I do have an idea."

His tone shifted abruptly. The despair faded, replaced by the sharp determination that had defined his entire career. "I can make sure they don't breach the castle walls again. Not like they did during Orion's attack. Despite everything they are throwing at us, I am fairly certain I can prevent that."

Julius immediately straightened his posture. The four commanders, Min, Taro, Li, and Liu, who had been catching their breath in the rear, stepped forward, reacting to the shift in his aura.

"There it is!" Min shouted, flashing a tired but fiercely happy genuine grin. He clapped Li on the back. "The Glorious General in action! I knew he had something up his sleeve!"

Ren physically recoiled. A dark, furious blush spread across his cheeks. He glared at Li, silently cataloging his childhood friend as a massive traitor scheduled for severe punishment the moment they survived this day's apocalypse.

"You've already started spreading that garbage on this side of the Wall too?" Ren muttered, horrified.

"What is it?" Taro asked, completely ignoring the banter. His eyes were wide with desperate enthusiasm, entirely unfazed by his own exhaustion. "What did you come up with, Glorious General?"

Ren blushed a shade deeper under the sudden chorus of expectant stares. It was a bizarre sensation that not even the most horrific battlefield in the world could cure him of.

He cleared his throat and forced himself to focus.

"I am going to plant a new tower right here," Ren declared. "I need all of you to help me hold the perimeter for just a few moments while I set the foundation."
