Chapter 1317 - Taming the Old World - Intimidate - 3
Selthia was scared to lose more big mutants now…
So Ren and Liora fully exploited that paralyzing fear.
They spent the next hour running leisurely aerial patrols around the capital, occasionally drifting out toward the mutant front lines. They never actually launched any big attack, that would have wasted the precious ether Ren was carefully hoarding, but they made sure their presence was felt.
It was pure psychological intimidation… Every single time a pack of corrupted beasts began to act bold and creep toward the outer ditches to test the perimeter, Ren and Liora would casually swoop out of the clouds nearby, and the entire corrupted line would instantly scramble backward in a panic.
The capital was entirely safe. It was not secured by the sheer thickness of its stone walls, but by the overwhelming terror that two human Tamers inspired simply by flying in circles.

Miles away, buried in the cold isolation of her crystal, Selthia was, yet again, throwing a tantrum.
She was furious…
It was somehow possible, she was angrier than she had been all morning.
She had just lost a Diamond titan, one of the precious twelve she had painstakingly force-bred inside the mountain incubators, for absolutely nothing. It had been cleanly sliced in half before it even had the chance to fire a single spell.
She still had 12 in total, just thanks to the one Liu and Sirius had killed being cannibalized, but that did very little to make her happy.
Her grand strategy to pin Ren to the city was technically working, yes; she had him tied to the perimeter. Yet, the cost of that pin was watching nearly half of her own surviving army cower inside the dirt, completely paralyzed by the mere proximity of the handsome arrogant young man.
And up in the north, her gamble was falling apart at the seams too.
She was steadily bleeding elite units there too, and the humans had not suffered a single casualty.
Ever since Selphira had stopped holding back, ever since the human vanguard abandoned the boss fight and openly began hunting mutants for sport, the balance of power in the north had completely inverted.
Her Diamonds and Platinums were being actively slaughtered in a brutal crossfire. They were getting blasted by the Light Guardian on one side and frozen, shattered then burned in small pieces for efficiency by the human Tamers on the other.
They were trapped in a meat grinder between two enemies who, for the very first time in history, seemed perfectly happy to call a temporary truce just to eradicate her.

"It is not fair," Selthia whispered, her voice echoing in the empty, dark chamber, thick with the impotent rage of a player watching every single one of her moves backfire simultaneously. "None of this is fair you old woman and hunky cheater!"
But there was no one left in the dark to hear her complain. And there was still no ancient voice whispering in her ear to tell her how to fix it.
It was just her, the cold purple crystal of her castle net, and the creeping certainty that, once again, she was losing on every single front across the board.
♢♢♢♢
While Ren and Liora single-handedly anchored nearly half of the mutant horde to the ground outside the capital, the northern front was systematically thinning the Witch's ranks.
The human Vanguard had already cut down eighty of the big, high-tier beasts. More importantly, one of those titanic Diamond mutants was currently on the verge of collapsing. The moment it fell and was incinerated, the execution would translate to the equivalent of forty Platinum mutants plus half a Diamond permanently erased from Selthia's ledger.
And every single Diamond titan that died was not just a heavy casualty; it was the total time and energetic investment required to breed it, completely reduced to sterile ash.
The Diamond titan currently fighting for its life had suffered a stroke of terrible luck.
Because of its sheer size and aggressive positioning, the Light Guardian had identified the beast as the primary threat on the board. The dragon had relentlessly focused its blinding beams on the titan, forcing the heavily wounded behemoth to stagger backward after a long hour and retreat from the mountain just to escape the withering holy beams.
Only to find something far worse waiting for it at the bottom of the slope.
The humans had formed a welcoming committee.
Yang, Min, Lin, Zhao, and the squad of battle-maids anchored by the royal guards coordinated a flawless execution ring. All 8 women synchronized their movements around a single, highly specific objective: the other 7 were strictly running support to buy a window for Hana and her Venus.
Since the success of the maneuver hinged entirely on absolute immobilization.
Yang initiated the trap. Fusing his Behemoth and Treant, he slammed massive roots into the dirt to physically anchor the staggering titan in place. Simultaneously, Hana deployed the jamming signal of her Antenna Venus, projecting a localized spatial jammer that sealed off the beast's ability to attempt a short-range teleport. A mutant of that caliber was already capable of relying on those sudden small temporal skips to escape fatal damage, yet trapped between Yang's heavy dual physical anchor and Hana's spatial lock, the Diamond could neither run nor blink away.
The execution squad went to work.
Min riding Mayo's bird struck first... Launching a massive, hyper-pressurized steam explosion directly against the titan's skull, he concussed the creature, leaving it completely disoriented for the exact time his teammates required.
Zhao capitalized on the opening. Tearing out of the sky in full fusion, he manifested his longest, most resilient steel-like black feathers along the leading edge of his wings. He went into a blinding spin, driving those razor-sharp quills deep into the titan's torso in a perfectly straight line, burying them as deep as they would go before instantly banking away to avoid the beast's flailing counterattack and his own teammate's.
The black feathers remained lodged deep in the monster's flesh, tracing a distinct dotted line straight down its chest.
Lin dropped from above. Fully synchronized with her agile beast, she descended like a falling star and delivered a rapid-fire sequence of devastating kicks directly onto the exposed ends of Zhao's quills. Each brutal impact drove the feathers deeper into the pre-marked line, hammering them through the dense chitin until they could go no further, widening the internal laceration.
