Werewolf Leveling: Building the Strongest Pack in the Apocalypse

Chapter 245: An Invitation

Chapter 245: An Invitation

I uncrumpled the piece of paper, ignoring the saliva that had dampened it. Written in cursive, there was a message on the paper, a message that seemed to be written using red lipstick.

’Let’s talk face to face. You know where to find me xoxo.’

Reading the message, I had a feeling she had no intention of talking. If she did, then she wouldn’t have killed the members of my pack. This was meant as provocation. She wanted me angry so I would storm into her mansion where she would be waiting for me.

It was something I would do if my opponent was a werewolf. A race known for their hot temper and anger issues.

"What will you do?" Kaguya asked.

"I’ll give in to her request this time and go meet her."

"May I ask? What’s the point of even going after her? The properties that the Veylmont clan owns are of no consequence, right?" Kaguya asked, seeming a bit hesitant about the question.

"A lot of vampires are still on her side, plus she herself could prove to be valuable." I answered.

Kaguya still didn’t seem to be convinced by my argument.

"Yes, but what about the vampires who were once under the rule of the noble vampires? You asked us to capture them after you killed all the noble vampires. The entire pack did a city-wide sweep, even the valkyries got involved. There should be hundreds, no, thousands of vampires under your control, so where are they?"

I smiled and patted her on the head.

"It’s all taken care of, no need to worry your head."

With that answer, she didn’t push any further.

"Tell the girls I’ll continue their training later. I need to head out now."

"Yes, alpha," Kaguya bowed.

At this hour, the sun had already retreated from the sky, so the only source of light was the streetlamps illuminating the streets. The city has changed a lot in the last few weeks. For one, the lack of vampire presence was notable.

Even witches were now under a tight leash now that they didn’t have full rein of the mana crystals. A lot of them even joined my pack, likely as spies but my venom quickly turned them over to my side permanent.

Walking through the streets, I drew a lot of attention, but no one got close. Soon, I arrived at a very familiar mansion. The same mansion where I killed Allucard. As I entered the estate, I could see several red glowing eyes staring at me through the darkness.

These were the vampires who were still loyal to the Veylmont clan. They didn’t seem to have any intention of attacking, but I didn’t want to take the chance.

"120 heartbeats... should be easy enough."

With the vampires watching my every move, I suddenly disappeared out of view and appeared behind my first target. Without giving him the chance to react, my claws ripped through his back, holding his heart in front of his chest.

He let out a sound as if he was choking on his own blood before I allowed him to collapse to the ground. From my claws all the way up to my elbow was slick with blood as I went after the other vampires lurking nearby.

They leaped from the shadows and planned ambushes, but they were all weak. Just the slightest touch would leave them decapitated or missing a limb. They even broke their own bones trying to attack me.

"This guy is a monster!" One of them shouted, horrified. He sounded panicked, but he steeled himself and charged forward. He landed a perfectly placed blow to my abdomen, causing him to break his arm in two places.

The pointed white bone protruded through his flesh like sharp rocks in a river. His fingers were mangled as his dark red blood drip from his wounds and stained his clothes. I made a fist and did the same thing he did to me, but the result was quite different.

His chest was caved in like a sinkhole, and his heart crushed immediately. The other vampires looked on with fear evident on their faces. Some even tried to run, but the ones who did were the first ones I killed.

Soon, all that was left of the 120 vampires was just sacks of flesh, spillage of blood, and pieces of bones. Feeling satisfied, I finally entered the mansion where the only remaining heartbeat was.

The heartbeat was just as calm as the moment I stepped foot on the estate.

Kaguya had told me a little about Mariah Veylmont. She told me that she possessed some sort of shadow ability. I remember Victor had a similar ability along with his blood manipulation.

When he moved, his entire body would be enveloped in a dark energy. He must’ve inherited this from his mother.

That was the only piece of information Kaguya was able to relay. Apparently, Mariah was estranged from her husband and children, so she wasn’t in the household much.

Stepping into the mansion, I took a look around. The state of it was awful. No repairs had been done since the battle with Allucard. Cassian must’ve not cared enough to have it fixed.

After taking a look around, I went upstairs. I didn’t even bother trying to hide my presence since I was 100% sure she knew I was here.

I continued through the halls until I came upon the door to the master bedroom. I shoved the door open, which revealed a blonde-haired woman sitting comfortably on her king-sized bed. Her legs were crossed, and she was wearing a tightly fitted spandex suit.

Looking at her, I had to wonder how someone would breathe in something like that. It clung tightly to her curves like a second skin. She also wore a pair of high-heel boots.

Also beside her was a kappa playing dead, almost like a possum. I recognized the kappa as the same one I saw at the auction but I didn’t dwell on that information.

For some reason, the woman seemed disappointed when she saw me.

"You’re a lot shorter than I thought you would be. I thought you would be the second coming of the beast of Gevaudan or some burly wolf monster, but you’re just a boy. Disappointing."

Looking at her, I wasn’t sure if she was a right match for my pack. I would have to see her in action first.

"Let’s settle this in a one-on-one. If you kill me, you get to keep everything your husband once owned, and you get your vampires back."

A hint of amusement crossed her face, and she let out a slight chuckle.

"That was the plan all along."
