Werewolf Leveling: Building the Strongest Pack in the Apocalypse

Chapter 280: Purple Dragon

Chapter 280: Purple Dragon

Selthia, Yuki, and her ghouls stealthily approached where the witch of greed was. The witch of greed was the one leading half the forces in the city.

Khalissi had orchestrated things so that the Lycan pack and the ghouls would be on another side of the city. This forced the opposing forces to go after them.

This worked to isolate the witch of greed, since she didn’t usually fight on the front lines.

Selthia felt it was her duty to kill the witch of greed. The two witches were the ones organizing the forces in the city; without them, the forces would go back to fighting for their lives and wouldn’t be as coordinated.

There were quite a few witches guarding her mansion, which was left unscathed during the battle.

Yuki and the ghouls she commanded moved like assassins and stealthily murdered the witches in their path.

They killed the witches who were left on guard at the gate. It was Yuki who decapitated the guards with her tail, and the moment she did, her legs began to wobble and she fell to her knees, panting heavily.

Selthia watched her, feeling a little disgusted as she saw a small puddle form on the ground beneath the ghoul.

The other ghouls didn’t react nor looked in her direction. There was a price to pay if they dared look at her when she was in the moment.

After a few minutes of violently trembling on her knees, Yuki hopped to her feet and continued like nothing happened.

Selthia was speechless and wanted to ask about what she just witnessed, but in the end, she shoved it aside since there were more important matters at hand.

They killed any other witch they came across until they arrived at the entrance.

Without wasting a second, they burst through the door and moved through the mansion swiftly.

Yuki’s scorpion-like tail was dangling back and forth excitedly as she took quick steps through the mansion.

"Hey, slow down," Selthia said.

But Yuki ignored her. Her face was flushed red, and she began purring like a wild animal in heat.

"Don’t pay it any mind, Miss Selthia. She always gets like this before a major kill," one of the ghouls said, placing a hand on her shoulder.

Selthia looked up at the ghoul to see it was a tall young man wearing glasses. He also had a pair of wings on his back, which were similar to a dragonfly’s.

Of all the ghouls, he seemed the most reasonable. The rest were more or less like Yuki. Selthia had heard of the brutal way Yuki treated the people under her. The endless torture must have driven the rest of the ghouls mad, just like her, Selthia thought.

With nothing else to do, they were forced to chase after Yuki.

"It seems she has found where the witch is," the ghoul with glasses said.

The group traveled hastily through the corridors of the mansion that looked as if it was made centuries ago.

It wasn’t a modern mansion, and the atmosphere inside caused Selthia to feel uneasy.

As they made their way through the creepy mansion, Selthia couldn’t shake the feeling that this all seemed a bit too easy.

But in the end, she decided to put the thought aside for now.

Soon, Yuki came to a stop in front of a door that seemed to lead to some sort of office space.

"She’s inside," Yuki grinned, her tail making hypnotic movements behind her.

"We should plan this carefully. We shouldn’t rush..."

BAM!

Before Selthia could finish her sentence, Yuki kicked down the door of the room.

"Oopsie... Is anyone home?" Yuki joked as she entered the room, then made an exaggerated gesture of raising her hand when she saw the witch of greed sitting behind her desk.

The witch of greed didn’t react to Yuki’s sudden appearance. Instead, she continued to sit cross-legged behind her desk.

This caused Selthia to feel even more unsettled by what was going on. There were a few things she noticed. For one, the thing that stood out most was the dark circles around the witch’s eyes. Her skin also had a purple hue, and there were two horns on the top of her head.

Another thing was the tattoo on her arms of the purple dragon. It was pulsing and glowing brighter than ever.

Selthia knew a bit about magic, and she figured that the witch must’ve poured her mana into the tattoo to bring the giant serpentine dragon to life. That was all she could conclude. She didn’t know the proper technique behind it.

She had seen this purple dragon many times before and knew that if it was ever summoned, it would make things a lot harder for her. This is why she secretly began swirling a small orb of water behind her. It was just powerful enough to pierce the witch’s heart.

Looking at the witch, Yuki couldn’t help but frown and walk towards her. She felt disappointed that the witch wasn’t putting up much of a fight.

"You’re alpha killed my sister," the witch of greed said, finally looking up towards them.

Hearing this, Yuki’s smile widened.

"That whore witch. What was her name again?" Yuki laughed.

"Aphrodite," the witch of greed whispered softly.

"Before she died, we were working on a special project. A spell to increase our power."

’So is that the reason for her appearance?’ Selthia wondered.

"We were going to turn ourselves into dragons since they have a higher capacity for magic. They are the most perfect beings that ever graced this world, and we were going to become one of them. Looking at my appearance, it seems the spell wouldn’t have worked," she continued solemnly.

Yuki reached out and grabbed the witch of greed by her hair, tugging her closer until the two’s faces were just inches apart.

"You should’ve tried turning yourselves into ghouls. Then you could’ve been with me," Yuki grinned.

Still, the witch of greed didn’t react, even as Yuki tugged on her hair.

"Damian will kill your alpha, so I don’t have to worry about getting revenge. I’ll just have to make do with killing you."

Hearing the witch of greed’s words, Selthia reacted instantly and fired the attack she had prepared beforehand.

A small pop was heard as the small orb of water sped through the room and struck the witch of greed directly in her chest.

The witch of greed didn’t react to Selthia’s attack, which didn’t even pierce her skin.

Her bright purple eyes stared up at Selthia as her bloodlust spread throughout the room ominously.

Sensing danger, Yuki reacted and swung her tail towards the witch of greed’s neck, but it was easily caught.

The witch of greed’s hand tightened on Yuki’s tail, causing the iron-like scales to crack under pressure.

Yuki felt an unbearable pain that almost made her want to faint on the spot.

Seeing their leader in danger, the ghouls surged forward, which forced the witch of greed to release Yuki’s tail.

At the same time, Selthia began summoning several small orbs around her. Each orb made a soft pop as they exploded forward toward the witch.

Selthia controlled them perfectly, making sure that none of the ghouls were hit in the process.

Due to her constant training, she now had better control of her water attacks. Still, her attacks did nothing but bounce off the witch’s body.

This surprised her, since witches normally had weak defenses. Their bodies were like humans, so any well-placed attacks could be critical.

But it seemed the witch of greed’s body had changed.

"It must be the effect of the spell they mentioned before. The one to alter themselves into dragons. The spell might’ve failed, but it still altered her body."

Using just brute force, the witch of greed was able to kill most of the ghouls rushing towards her. A single blow to the head was enough to crush their skulls.

Seeing the danger of the situation, Selthia tried to summon her trident, but before it could even manifest in her hand,

The purple serpentine dragon tattoo on the witch of greed’s arm peeled itself off her skin.

As it peeled away from the witch of greed, the dragon increased in size. Selthia, Yuki, and the others were forced to quickly escape the room before they were crushed by the colossal dragon that spawned before them.

The walls cracked and crumbled to accommodate the beast’s size. It felt as if the very structure of the mansion was about to crumble.

"This is... it’s way bigger than it was before. We have to go," Selthia shouted, dragging Yuki by the hand.

"Hey, what do you think you’re doing? We can’t leave without killing her," Yuki shouted, pulling her hand away from Selthia’s grip.

"We won’t be able to kill her if we’re crushed to death. Let’s figure out our next move after we escape this place."

Seeing the logic in Selthia’s words, Yuki decided to follow her and escape the mansion. They had to hurry towards the nearest exit as the roof began to crumble.

In the end, they barely escaped before they were crushed, but that was just the beginning.

Now they were left to face the giant dragon floating among the clouds, along with the witch who was riding atop it.
