Chapter 303 303: Astrid
Chapter 303 303: Astrid
Furious, Lilith moved through the halls of the castle. The pressure coming from her was so strong that every demon was forced to bow down.
Their bodies felt as if they were being crushed beneath the weight of her bloodlust.
Lilith couldn't bear to stay in Hel any longer, so she rushed to get back to the human world.
"Lady Lilith."
A demon bowed in front of her. It was an old woman with wrinkled skin and a set of horns on her head.
This old woman was one of the few capable of transportation magic. Now that Earth was weakened through its exposure to mana, demons could now travel back and forth without the help of witches.
"Take me back to the human world," Lilith demanded.
Without wasting a second, the old woman nodded and cast her magic, creating a portal.
Lilith held up her long dress before stepping into the portal.
Now in Earth's atmosphere, she soared through the sky. On her back were large wings covered in white, crystal-like scales.
She ripped through the air, creating a sonic blast with every flap of her wings, propelling her faster.
She flew through the sky until she finally caught sight of two individuals. She made sure to completely hide her presence, making her completely undetectable.
One of the individuals she spotted was an elf. The elf had white hair just like herself, but the elf wasn't who she was focused on. It was the young man walking beside her.
He had black hair and eyes with a certain appeal to them. He reminded her of her husband.
That young man was her son.
Before, it might not have seemed like it, but she had heeded Lucifer's warning.
She didn't want to see her child suffer, so she was contemplating whether the best option was for her to take his life as an act of mercy.
Staring at the young man below her, Lilith felt her chest tighten. Just the thought of it was too much for her to bear.
The fact that she came here with the intention of harming her own child disgusted her.
When Lucifer took him away from her, she felt as if he had left a hole in her chest that would never heal.
"I can't do this."
She took large ragged breaths as if the very thought was stifling her.
Her son was getting closer to his brother. If the two met, then a fight would undoubtedly break out between them.
No matter who won or lost, then she still would be losing a child. She had to choose between them, but she couldn't possibly make a choice like that.
The only thing she could do now was stop them from meeting.
"Yes, that's the only way. I just have to keep them apart," Lilith convinced herself and smiled.
She then dove from the sky towards her son. After all these years, she would finally reunite with him, but just then, when she was about to emerge into his view, her path was blocked.
Someone appeared in front of her.
"Astrid," Lilith mumbled in disbelief and surprise.
Why was her daughter here?
Astrid was covered in bluish, dragon-like scales and had a reptilian tail flowing gracefully behind her.
She also had wings similar to Lilith's, only they had blue scales where Lilith's scales were white.
She also had four blue horns on top of her head.

Astrid looked at her mother with indifference and said:
"Father sent me here. He told me what you are up to."
Lilith clenched her fist in anger.
"That man, he's using my own child against me."
Astrid nodded, knowing what her purpose in all this was.
"Father knows you would never fight against me."
"He expects me to watch as my two sons kill each other." Lilith's bloodlust anger exploded, so dense that it was almost tangible.
If Astrid wasn't her daughter and she didn't make an attempt to shield her, Lilith could have killed her or at least broken her mind, since she was at such close proximity.
Still, Astrid couldn't help but feel a bit of nausea from her mother's raging bloodlust.
"Theon, I understand, but the other one is an outsider. Why do you care about him so much?" Astrid asked.
"Because he's still my son. My own flesh and blood. I don't want to lose either of them."
Astrid sighed.
"I can't go against Father."
Lilith understood her daughter's reasoning. All her children fought for Lucifer's approval. And yet he only referred to them as parasites.
Lilith flew towards her daughter and touched her face lovingly.
"Let's leave him. He has gone too far this time. We can all live together, all of my children, away from him and his wars," Lilith said, smiling warmly.
Astrid looked at her in disbelief. She couldn't believe that those words were coming from her.
"What happened to you? You've changed so much. I used to hear stories of you going to war with Father and decimating countless planets. Some even said you were worse than Father in many ways. Your brutality and cruelty used to be folk stories among the demons, but you've changed since then."
Lilith didn't lose her smile at her daughter's words.
"Things are different now. It has been different from the moment I held my first child in my arms. I learned that there is more to life than power and combat and killing. I no longer want any part of it; I only want to watch my children grow."
Astrid shook her head, seemingly in disappointment. She then removed her mother's hands from her face and clasped them in her grasp.
"I love you, Mother, but I have to fulfill Father's wishes, even if it means one of my siblings has to die."
Astrid's eyes glowed like fire as she spoke.
…
Standing in the middle of the wyvern king's territory, Therissa and I looked around warily. For a moment, we felt overwhelming bloodlust.
I staggered a bit from the force, but for some reason, it didn't feel as if it was concentrated on me. But Therissa, on the other hand, wasn't shielded from it. She was bleeding from her nose, eyes, and even ears.
Her legs staggered as if she were about to collapse, but just before she could, I caught her.
