Werewolf Leveling: Building the Strongest Pack in the Apocalypse

Chapter 305 305: Wyvern

Chapter 305 305: Wyvern

I carried Therissa in my arms as I ran. Blood flowed from her eyes, ears, and mouth.

Whatever creature released its bloodlust was enough to damage her internal organs.

She might've even sustained brain damage.

BOOM!

BOOM!

BOOM!

All around us, wyverns plummeted from the sky, one by one. Even they weren't saved from the bloodlust.

Seeing even the wyverns in this state, I was almost certain that this wasn't the power of the wyvern king.

No demon would kill the members of their own legion. Still, that bloodlust from before would definitely draw his attention.

Therissa's face was pale and her heartbeat was slowing down by the second.

It looked as if she was dying, but I couldn't allow it to happen before we got back to her settlement.

It was crucial.

I used my void hounds to teleport myself so I was at least a good distance away from where the bloodlust came from.

There was no chance of me even surviving in a fight against the creature or person who produced such a bloodlust.

This was one of those times where it was best to run and ask questions later.

Using the dense forest as my cover, I leaped through the trees. My figure was but a blur as I moved from branch to branch, carrying Therissa in my arms.

Therissa said that the elven settlement sat in the middle of the forest, covered by illusion magic so it wasn't found by the wyvern king.

While I moved through the forest, I sent out my shadow ravens in search of any signs of the elf settlement. I also had a few of them watching my back and the sky so I wouldn't be ambushed.

But just then, I caught sight of something. It was a wyvern. The bloodlust from before caused it to fall from the sky, but it wasn't dead. The bloodlust only momentarily disoriented the creature.

One thing that was different about this wyvern was its size. It was much larger than the others. If I didn't know better, I would've thought it was a dragon. Knowing how demons are with their legions, this wyvern must've been the leader of the other wyverns.

And it must've been the one closest to the wyvern king. Just like Cerberus was in my pack. Even though it was a good distance away, the scaly creature's eyes caught sight of me before I had the chance to hide myself.

SREE!

The wyvern released a loud screatch that tore through the forest and made the air itself tremble with magic. For a moment nothing happened until my ravens caught sight of something. All the wyverns who were previously soaring through the sky converged in my direction.

"That scream was a signal," I mumbled to myself.

Acting quickly, I placed Therissa up against the trees and summoned my void hounds, along with the garmr and my dullahan.

Back when the wyverns first ambushed us on the ship, there were around a thousand of them. Who knows how many of them were out there.

A demon that had thousands of feral beasts in his legion was bound to be powerful. I left two of my void hounds with Therissa to protect her while I drew them away from her.

At the same time, the giant wyvern began moving in my direction, and my phantom pack scattered to keep the other wyverns at bay. The gamrs and void hounds spread through the forest while my dullahan leaped onto his horse raced through the sky towards the incoming wyverns, its whip crackling with anticipation.

The giant wyvern flapped its wings, creating a powerful wind current through the forest, strong enough to break down even the strongest of trees. The creature let out a loud screech as it saw me heading its way, as if to challenge me.

Getting closer to the creature, I realized just how monstrous it was. It also seemed as if it was well taken care of. You could see it from the look in its eyes; it wasn't as wild as other beasts.

Realizing this, I felt a bit regretful. If anyone harmed Cerberus, then I didn't know what I would do.

But this needed to be done.

Still, I pushed that aside and leaped towards the wyvern, aiming my claws at its massive head. My entire body was covered in flames, and I moved at a speed the massive creature couldn't react to.

The impact sent ripples through the air, and the giant beast was sent crashing to the ground. The wyvern let out a pained snarl as its body hit the ground. The flames on my body melted through the creature's diamond-like scales like butter.

Its long neck twisted in agony as blood dripped from its mouth. The wyvern then spat out its broken teeth before baring its fangs at me once again, but the creature was too slow. I danced around the creature, keeping to its blind spot as my claws tore through its scales, creating several large gashes.

The wyvern screeched in pain and tried to fly off, but I broke its wings with a single perfectly placed blow to its joints. The creature was in the process of flying off, but it ended up crashing into the forest down below.

Since its scales were destroyed, the wyvern was impaled by a few of the tree stumps. Watching the beast bleeding out on the ground, I slowly approached it. Its heart was still beating, and it produced soft wheezing sounds with every breath it took.

I touched the dying creature, and just like what happened at the military settlement, my entire body and surroundings were engulfed in flames. I didn't know how to control mana yet, so this was all I could do.

A sprawling sea of flames consumed both me and the wyvern, melting everything in the surroundings. The flames traveled through the wyvern's body, melting its insides as well as its scales.

[You have slain a level 87 evolved wyvern]

[You have evolved to level 104]

Immediately as I heard those notifications, I released the flames surrounding me. The wyvern was burnt to a crisp. With a legion of over a thousand wyverns, I couldn't allow them to be summoned, hence why I had to kill it.

Seeing that the beast was now dead, I ripped through its chest and pulled out its heart.

I raised it up, ready to take the first bite in hopes that it might help me evolve, but just then, a figure emerged from the sky.

It was a young man with orange eyes and black scales covering the wings on his back. The black scales extended from his neck, down his arms where it merged with his talon like claws.
