Chapter 314 314: Dracanis
Chapter 314 314: Dracanis
"Let me train you?"
Getting trained by Lilith? Originally, it was Khalissi who was supposed to help me understand magic. But then I asked Therissa.
Both of them were exceptionally versed in magic, but their skills paled when compared to Lilith. Plus the fact that Lilith also has a draconic bloodline. The more that I thought about it, I realized she was the best person to teach me.
If I was ever going to survive against Conquest and those who follow him, then I needed more strength. This was an opportunity I couldn't afford to lose.
"Okay, I accept. I want you to train me."
Lilith gave a faint smile and nodded.
"Not here. The human world is not suitable for training dragons. We have to go back to Dracanis."
"Dracanis?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Yes, it's the birthplace for dragons, our home."
"Home for dragons?" I pondered. "Wouldn't that be even more dangerous? If it's the home for dragons, then Conquest must always be there. And how would we even get there?"
Lilith shook her head.
"No, dragons are a race of conquerors. From the moment we are strong enough to leave the atmosphere of our planet, we venture into the stars to conquer new planets. After leaving our world after infancy, we rarely go back. As to how we'll get there, we'll have to travel through a rift."
I've heard about rifts before. They were the gateways to entering a dungeon.
"The place the people of this world call a dungeon is actually the dragon world. From the moment the first rifts were opened, both worlds had begun the process of merging with each other. It is after the merging is complete that Conquest and the other dragons will return."
Hearing Lilith's words, I found it a bit hard to believe.
Another world was merging with ours?!
Seeing the bewildered look on my face, Lilith smiled and stood up before extending her hands.
"Come with me. Anyone looking for us would never suspect that we have gone to Dracanis."
I reached out and took her hand, and immediately giant scaly wings burst from her back. Without wasting another second, she grabbed me from behind and flew us into the sky. Her skin was shimmering with tiny white scales.
I remember Astrid also had scales, except hers were blue. If I had to guess, both of them had draconic forms. It makes me wonder…
"Will I also have a draconic transformation since I have a draconic bloodline?" I decided to ask.
For a moment, Lilith didn't say a word, and only after a few minutes did she finally answer.
"You're different from the others. Your draconic bloodline will change your body, but it will also interact with your other bloodline. Plus, beings with draconic bloodline usually have their race as dragons, but your race is something else. This will cause you to be a bit different. I don't know the extent of how different you'll be."
So I was an anomaly. Still, if my real mother was a dragon, then why and how am I a werewolf? As if sensing what I was thinking, Lilith spoke up.
"One of the things that makes dragons unique is their ability to adapt. They adapt to whatever environment they are in. This is why all newborns are brought back to Dracanis so they can adapt to the harsh environment of the planet, making them strong. I warned Lucifer that something like this would happen, but he never listened," Lilith said, her voice surging with anger the moment she spoke Lucifer's name.
Could it be…
"You naturally adapted the werewolf gene from that woman who gave birth to you. Plus, that woman was already pregnant with another child, so that must've also influenced it."
So Liora also played a factor in this.
Soon we arrived at what looked like a desolate city. The city had huge wooden walls and buildings that were also made from wood.
"What is this place?" I asked as we descended from the sky toward the settlement.
"This is the free city. It was built while you were in purgatory. The entire city is built around a dungeon, and groups which call themselves adventurers have a monopoly on the dungeon."
I nodded along to her explanation as we finally touched ground. If going to the dragons' home planet could help increase your strength, then it made sense that there were awakeners lined up to go.
Looking around, there was nothing but destroyed buildings and corpses. Looking around, my instincts told me that there was someone powerful here at one point. My eyes immediately drifted to Lilith for explanation.
Seeing my gaze, she smiled faintly and explained.
"The city was already destroyed when I came here. I just killed the survivors so they wouldn't pose a problem when I return here with you."
So that's it. She had already made plans and set things up to bring me here. Not that I didn't know before, but this woman is quite cunning. She seemed like the type to do anything to get what she wanted.
Following behind Lilith, we walked through the city until we found ourselves at an underground structure. It seemed this was the entrance for the dungeon. We continued down the path, which seemed almost like an underground cave, until we finally arrived at the rift.
The magic in the air felt unreal. It was even stronger than the fossil of the dragon I saw back in Purgatory. The rift was a spiraling of purple and blue energy that seemed to be colliding with each other.
The sound it made was reminiscent of the ocean itself. Lilith stepped in front of the rift and beckoned me forward with a smile, but I didn't move an inch. This caused a look of worry to cross her face.
"What's wrong?"
"Before we enter Dracanis, I want to know something. What are your true intentions with Lucifer?"
Lilith's expression hardened. I had a hunch, but I wanted to hear it from her mouth. For a moment, Lilith didn't say a word and only continued to stare at me as the energy from the rift seemed to want to swallow everything whole.
After a few seconds, her lips finally parted, and she gave her answer.
