Chapter 313 313: Lilith's Meeting
Chapter 313 313: Lilith's Meeting
In front of me lay a withered forest and hundreds of wyvern corpses. Lilith's bloodlust was strong enough to kill the trees, making them wither and turn gray as the leaves fell off. Every plant and animal that once occupied the wyvern king's territory was now dead.
"Lilith…" I said as I watched her stare at me.
My void hounds were already spread out through the forest. That was how I planned to escape her. I killed her son. I knew without a shadow of a doubt that she would come after me. Just as those thoughts crossed my mind, I felt Lilith's scorching hot hands grab my wrist.
She was so fast that I didn't even see her move. Claws burst from my hand and were immediately engulfed in flames, but at the last second, I froze.
There was no killing intent coming from her. And I knew full well that if there had been, I would've been dead already. This woman's power was just that unbelievable.
Instead of anger or rage, the emotions on her face seemed remorseful.
"Why do you have to be so stubborn? Why do all of you have to be so stubborn?" she said, and before I could even react, she raised her hand.
Flick!
…
A few hours later, Lilith and I sat across from each other on the ground. My forehead was still burning from being flicked. We were forced to leave the wyvern king's settlement since the military and my own pack were headed toward us.
In a matter of seconds, Lilith and I were somewhere else, even though I didn't know where. We could've been halfway across the world for all I knew. Lilith quickly grabbed me and flew me to this location.
While I sat across from her on the ground, I couldn't help but take in her strange appearance. She had beautiful silver-white hair, black obsidian horns, and black feathered wings on her hips.
Is this woman really my mother?
I had my doubts.
Apart from our flame-colored eyes, we looked nothing alike.
"You look more like your father than the rest of your siblings," Lilith finally said softly. Her eyes were filled with sadness, but she still wore a smile.
"Especially when you ordered that elf to kill her own people. That was exactly like your father. He had a knack for using others' love for him against them. Especially the women he married."
"I did what I had to. Just wait; with time, the awakeners will increase in strength from killing the elves."
Lilith nodded her head.
"No doubt about that. You made the right choice. Maybe it was because the elves were unwilling to make those choices why their world was destroyed. Maybe it takes a demon to fight demons."
"I'm not a demon; I'm a werewolf. We're territorial creatures, and demons are invading our space," I answered.
Lilith didn't respond. She kept quiet and looked at the ground. I too turned my gaze away, looking up into the sky as the white clouds drifted by. It was only after a few moments that Lilith finally spoke again.
"Theon was a good boy. He was born just a few years before you. He was just a young boy and I remember at one time he was excited about meeting his younger brother. He would always cling to me more than the others. As a result, his siblings would always tease him for being too weak. This caused him to want to prove himself. That is what led him here," Lilith spoke solemnly.
"Do you plan to kill me for what I did to Theon?" I asked.
Lilith's face looked as if it had sunken in from my question as she quickly shook her head.
"I could never kill one of my children."
"What about Andros?"
Without hesitation, she once again shook her head.
"Regardless of his nature, Andros is still my son. I would never harm him."
Hearing those words, I couldn't help but heave a sigh. I understood where she was coming from. No mother would want to harm their own child regardless of how that child acts.
But this only put me in opposition with Lilith, since my goal is to kill Andros. This meant she would get in my way.
"I intend to protect all my children, and I want to gather them all and have them with me."
"So then what are you doing here with me?" I asked. "Shouldn't you be gathering the rest of your children?"
Lilith shook her head.
"If I left, you would be instantly killed. Astrid is on a warpath. As cold as she may act, she loved her brothers and sisters. She was often cold to Theon because she wanted him to grow. Now that he is dead, she wants revenge, which means killing you. I'm the only thing standing in her way."
Hearing that, I couldn't help but sigh again. I suspected this was the case. Seeing my reaction, Lilith quickly spoke up.
"I would've spoken to her and dragged her here against her will if I had to, but she was smart. She fled back to my brother."
"Your brother?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
Lilith nodded.
"Yes, my brother is Conquest."
Hearing that, it felt as if I was hit with another blow to the head.
Conquest was her brother?!
"Conquest and I are from a race of conquerors known as dragons. When my brother lost to Lucifer, our entire race became the slaves of the demons. Eventually, I got married to Lucifer, and he turned me into a demon, making me the first dragon with a demonic bloodline. From that day on, my brother has hated me. He says that I have forsaken my lineage."
So that is why Astrid must've retreated to Conquest, because he knew that her mother and Conquest were on bad terms. This also explains a lot about myself. Suddenly, Lilith climbed to her feet before kneeling in front of me with her hands cupping my cheek.
She displayed a warm smile on her face as her eyes were filled with tears.
"I can't leave you to them. You are my son too. The least I can do is make sure you're strong enough to take care of yourself." Lilith paused and bit her lip before continuing, "Let me train you."
