Chapter 1004: Good Team Work
We appeared in the same plane though this time it was flying over the island from a different direction.
The plane was packed as usual and everyone got ready to jump.
I was a little worried I would have a hard time identifying which player avatar was Patricia until I noticed her avatar had a blue glow around it, making her stand out amongst the crowd.
She walked over to me, her voice being sent through an external application that allowed us to communicate without being recorded by our stream.
"Tera! Do you have a favorite spot to jump?!"
I shook my head, "I’m not very familiar with the game so I’ll just follow you."
She giggled at me, despite the fact that her avatar looked completely serious, "Then we’ll just do a hot drop. That’s fine with you, right?"
That means we’re just going to jump to the closest point of interest alongside everyone else to get into the thick of battle as soon as we can.
Well... That was what I did the first time so I don’t see any reason why we shouldn’t do that again, especially since I wasn’t on my own this time and had her as my backup.
Honestly, I’m still having trouble coming to terms with the fact that this person in front of me is the top gaming streamer in the galaxy...
We headed to the door of the plane as the lights turned green, prompting a large number of people to jump out almost immediately.
I followed them as well, keeping my eye on Patricia as she dove ahead of me, her figure being the only one that was wrapped in that blue glow.
The area below us seemed to be the remains of a city that had been bombarded into ruins with the destroyed remains of the buildings left in crumbled heaps of stone and metal.
The most striking aspect of the city was the giant tower that had been broken at the base and collapsed onto the ground with the remains of the tower smashing half the city block to flatten it with what used to be the body of the tower itself.
Patricia was aiming straight towards the base of the tower’s remains, which also seemed to be where a number of the teams were diving towards.
I followed behind her, the bunnygirl turning out to be quite chatty despite how her avatar looked.
"Over here! Over here! There’s this spot that is quite good for first contact fights especially in this case when everyone would be scrambling to find a weapon! Once we land, just grab whatever you can find and start blasting!"
"Is there any weapon you might prefer to use?" I asked, knowing that most people in these types of games would most likely prefer one weapon over the other.
She chuckled through our call, "Hehehe~ I’m ok with using any weapon, Tera! I’ve memorised all the weapons and their recoil patterns so I can use anything I want! No need to worry about me! Do you have any specific weapon you prefer?"
"Well... I don’t really know what weapons there are in the game so I’m just going to go with anything I can find that I think is good."
"Ehehe~ If I find any good guns I’ll point them out for you!"
She sped towards a corner of the destroyed base of the building and I followed right behind her.
Peeking behind me, I realised that there were several other players that seemed to be following after us as well, though it doesn’t look like they were specifically aiming for us but more because they also knew this was a good location for a firefight.
Patricia touched down on the ground first and dashed through a door, ramming it open with her shoulder to disappear inside.
I chased after her but another player landed in front of me to block the way to the door and the two people that landed behind me seemed to be his team mates too.
Really? Another case of players who just want to use melee to try and take out the early competition instead of looking for weapons? Sure, you might be able to get a quick kill by ganging up on a single opponent but you leave yourself open for other players who might have taken the time to arm themselves, you know?
I ignored the ones behind me in favour of rushing the lone guy that was standing in my way.
He stood with his arms out like he was attempting to grab me so I went ahead to stop right in front of him, causing him to swing his arms forward early to grab empty air.
I then kicked him in between the legs which, unfortunately, did not have my desired effect where he would be incapacitated by the blow. Since this was a game, the player didn’t feel the pain of his balls being kicked in and only had the effect where his health dropped a little from the blow before he was already recovered and ready again.
Fortunately, I managed to recover just as quickly as I jumped back, kicking against the chest of one of my pursuers and using him as a springboard to launch myself flying over the first guy’s head, landing behind him.
I was just about to roll back onto my feet when I heard Patricia’s voice coming from the comms.
"I’m coming!! Get down!!"
I chose not to question her and just did as she asked, laying myself flat on the ground.
The three guys behind me were letting out confused sounds before Patricia reappeared at the doorway, tossing a pineapple shaped object into the air.
I immediately covered my head right as the grenade exploded in the air, having already been cooked ahead of time by the bunnygirl so that it exploded right in those guys’ faces.
Since they were all fresh spawns, they had no shields or anything that might have protected them from that blast so all three of them were taken out by that single grenade.
"Come on, Tera!! Let’s go!" Patricia cried out chirpily, her enthusiastic voice completely out of place given that her avatar was looking all serious and deadpan as she tossed me the same energy sword I had stabbed her with the last time.
I snatched it out of the air and ran after her, noting that she only had a pistol as her weapon right now.
She led me up a flight of stairs which ended up causing us to bump into a solo player who had a rifle in his hands.
He looked surprised to see us but Patricia recovered instantly as she kneed him to slam him against the wall, giving her space to fire a few rounds from her pistol at him.
Despite the guy not having a shield, I already knew from experience that a few shots wasn’t enough to take a player down so I rushed in and stabbed the guy with the energy sword.
That seemed to be enough to kill him as his avatar disappeared into particles of light and his loot dropped onto the ground.
"Take them! I’m going to look for more stuff upstairs!" She instructed, already dashing past me to head to the next floor.
I went ahead to pick up the rifle the guy dropped and the ammunition which materialised as spare magazines on my hip right as I heard more gunshots coming from where Patricia had gone off to.
No doubt, this guy who we met was running away from other players that were also upstairs which was why he barely had time to gather any loot before he ran into us.
I sprinted up the steps, clearing three steps at a time until I reached the top floor landing.
I’m guessing this used to be an office space of sorts with the office desks that were scattered around the room which acted as improvised barricades which players could use as cover.
Right now, I was looking at Patricia jumping in between those desks like an acrobat and shooting at the other players that were hiding behind the desks to render their cover useless.
Somehow... She’s reminding me of how Amber would fight with her dual pistols...
One of the players managed to find a machinegun and started laying down fire in her direction, forcing her to dash behind a pillar for cover as the bullets cut through the air around her.
With the machinegunner distracted by her, it was a simple thing for me to take aim at that guy and fire a few quick bursts that nailed the guy in the head a few times.
I watched in satisfaction as the guy dropped to the ground but another player had come rushing out from behind another overturned desk to try and stab me with a combat dagger.
He didn’t get to move very far as Patricia came rushing out from the side to kick him in the side, sending him crashing towards the wall before the both of us pointed our guns at him to gun him down.
Hey... We’re actually having pretty good teamwork eh?
