Chapter 1006: It’s My Power Armour Now
Chapter 1006: It’s My Power Armour Now
I looked at the guy in Power Armour who spun up the miniguns under his arms and started blasting away, shredding through the lobby with a hail of bullets and eviscerating the players that were unfortunate enough to be in his line of fire.
I hid myself behind the debris as bullets shredded through the space above my head, the high pitched whine of the bullets passing over me muting out any sound I could hear for a brief moment as the Power Armour guy swung his miniguns line of fire above me.
"Patricia?! You ok?!" I called out through the comms.
"I’m here~ I’m here~" She confirmed cheerfully, not even remotely fazed by the appearance of our new enemy.
I looked in her direction to see her reloading her guns casually, using the pillar as her cover and her avatar completely composed.
"Wanna take that thing down? I think we could use the Power Armour ourselves~" She suggested just as casually.
"We can take it down?"
She cocked her marksman rifle, "Of course~ I just need to get close to it. Cover me?"
She did not even wait for my answer before she was already dashing out of her cover, running along the edge of the hall to get towards the Power Armour guy.
There were still a few other players that were also hiding behind their own cover to hide from the Power Armour guy.
Unfortunately for them, that left them open to Patricia as she came rushing from behind to eliminate them with her shotgun and marksman rifle combo.
I quickly realised she was clearing the way for me and vaulted over the debris to run towards the Power Armour guy, moving closer towards him while carrying my machinegun to get into position.
I watched as Patricia slid behind a half collapsed pillar right as the minigun on the Power Armour started sweeping back in her direction, slowly shredding away at the column she was hiding behind.
"Firing!" I warned her over the comms, resting my machinegun on top of a fallen pillar to hold down the trigger with the barrel of my gun pointed at the Power Armour guy.
My bullets pinged off the armour on the Power Armour, prompting the guy piloting it to turn his head in my direction as he stopped shooting at Patricia to swivel over to point his guns at me.
I quickly ducked behind the cover before the space I had been occupying was blasted with high calibre minigun rounds.
I did not stay still though, as I started crawling away from the position I had shot the guy from to move further towards the left of the lobby.
Someone actually thought he was being smart as he tried to attack me while I was crawling away, seeing me as an easy kill that they could take advantage of as the jumped over their cover to prone at the position I just vacated.
They did not even get to open fire before a mortar shell fired from the launcher on that Power Armour guy’s shoulder landed right on top of him, blasting him and killing him instantly.
The shockwave ended up throwing me off as well, but I was kind of prepared for that as I tucked myself into a ball and allowed myself to roll away.
With that explosion, I managed to roll quite a distance away to move away from the blast zone.
I pushed myself up into a half crouch and propped up my machinegun against another pile of fallen rocks to continue shooting at the Power Armour guy.
Even with his avatar hidden behind the armour, I could tell he was quite pissed at me harassing him with my machinegun despite it doing minimal damage to him.
Just as he turned to face me again, Patricia suddenly appeared from behind and jumped on his back.
He stumbled a step forward before he caught himself, only for Patricia to shove a grenade looking object between the armour’s neck and shoulder plates before she jumped away.
The pilot of the suit tried to spin around to attack her but the grenade went off, revealing it to be some kind of thermite grenade which started burning into the armour.
I guess the pilot panicked and decided to abandon it, the back of the armour opening up for him to jump out before the thermite could eat its way inside.
No... Since this was a game, I’m assuming his avatar was taking damage as well which might have killed his character if he had stayed inside the armour instead.
Well... When the pilot was trying to turn towards Patricia, the back of the Power Armour was facing towards me so when the pilot jumped out, he was standing right in my line of fire.
There was no reason for me to just wait so I squeezed the trigger, turning him into Swiss cheese immediately.
Despite the fact that it just got burned at the neck with a thermite grenade, the Power Armour seemed to still be functional so I quickly rushed forward to jump inside the suit.
I felt the back close in and my HUD changed colour as the suit came online, showing me the stats of the suit and the ammunition left on the guns attached to the suit.
The moment I had control over the suit, I immediately swung myself around, raising my arms just in time to see a few players running up towards me.
All of them were also holding the same type of grenade that Patricia had used to get the guy out of the suit, no doubt they were thinking they had time to attach that grenade on me while I was still getting the suit to start up.
One of them would have actually managed to reach me, if Patricia hadn’t been covering me that is.
He got blasted by a shotgun and marksman rifle combo that quickly downed him, his team mates valiantly jumping over his downed form to try and get to me.
For these people however... The revving of the minigun under my arm was all they got to hear before they got vaporised into particles of light.
The Power Armour groaned as the hydraulics worked overtime to absorb the recoil from the miniguns, enough for me to bring them down to shred through the other players who were also trying to achieve the same thing as the first three.
I watched as the entire group turned into light particles and the hall that had been filled with the sound of battle suddenly descended into silence.
There was one final gunshot which came from Patricia, the bunnygirl casually sniping down one of the players that had been trying to sneak past us to make a run for the door but ended up just short of it.
I turned towards my duo team mate, watching as she slaps in another magazine into her marksman rifle and looking like the silent, cool character with how she was walking over to me.
Over the comms though...
"Hnnnggg!! That was so awesooooome!! Ahhhhhh~ I’m gonna... Mnnnggghhhh!! Nnngghh!! Finally I have a duo partner who can make me feel so good playing with them!! Pubs can’t even compare!! Ngggghhh!! I’m gonna get so addicted to this!"
Yeah... If her fans could hear what she was saying right now... I think...
Hmm... Actually... I think she would gain more fans instead of losing them... Forget I said anything then.
I lifted up my arm and brought out the map, frowning when I realised a problem.
"Patricia, we’re quite far from the next safe zone, we got to move soon," I informed her.
She sobered up almost immediately, "Ah? Oh! Right! Of course! Let’s go! There should be a vehicle or something that we can use! Let’s go!"
We stepped out of the broken tower and into the streets of the ruined city.
In the distance, we could still see explosions and bullets flying from other firefights. And behind us, I could see the wall of energy that was slowly closing in on us that would shrink the playable area.
"Here! There’s always a heli spawn at the back!" Patricia informed me, already running down a path in between two ruined buildings.
I stomped after her, the Power Armour slowing me down slightly but thankfully not so much that I was left in the dust behind her.
We reached what looked like a carpark behind that ruined building and two players seemed to be trying to get to the heli as well.
Patricia did not even hesitate as she reacted the fastest out of all of us, her rifle snapping up to dump several bullets straight into the head of one of the players while I sprayed the other one with my minigun.
Both of them disappeared into light particles and I might have gone to loot them if it wasn’t for the approaching energy wall that would damage us if we stayed inside it.
This particular heli could seat three people with one being the pilot and two in the carriage area which I occupied, letting Patricia pilot it for us.
The rotors came to life and we quickly lifted off the ground right as the energy wall closed in on the city’s outskirts.
Hmm... What’s the chances of us getting shot out of the sky?
