What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company?

Chapter 1034: The Situation At The Camp

Chapter 1034: The Situation At The Camp

I watched as the cages holding the dogs were loaded up into the holding bay of Drow of Dawn, all of them adding up to a hundred dogs in total.

Nerissa stepped beside me to watch the loading with me, "You’re going huh?"

"Well who else can go aside from me? You?"

She snorted, "No thanks... I will just remain here instead... But you know that this basically reveals that you’re a Biotamer, right?"

I shrugged, "I guess it’s still better than being revealed as a... You know?"

"I suppose so... Biotamer families don’t have as much influence as the Noble families, but they will still most likely try and recruit you or breed with you."

Wow... She really said ’breed’ huh?

Then again, that was what almost happened to Mara so I can’t even say anything about it because it’s most likely true...

She turned to face me, "I would say good luck to you but... I don’t think you need luck since you have the power to overcome anything that could be thrown at you at this point."

"Oh come now... I could still end up getting screwed over by a stroke of bad luck if I’m not careful you know?"

"I doubt it... But I suppose... Good luck then. I believe once you clear that nest, you would have another legendary achievement under you that will be talked about for decades."

I chuckled at that thought, "I don’t think it’s that big of a deal but I’ll do my best."

She gave me a weird look but chose not to say anything as she turned back to see the last of the cage loaded up in my ship.

"Good luck, Captain Tera."

I gave her a nod and stepped out to board my ship, leaving Renata to control the ship as the loading ramp slid closed and the ship engines roared to life.

It was just a short flight towards the nest as I watched the ground speed past us from within the cargo hold through the window.

I was alone in the ship but my girls should be waiting there for me, more because they didn’t really want to be in close proximity with the dogs.

Well... I can’t blame them because the moment I got on the ship, I opened up the cages and the dogs basically flooded out and started letting out cute barks and yelps as they pounced all over me to get me to pat them.

We reached the location of the nest in less than ten minutes of flight time where a small camp had been set up, though it was mostly using landed ships as their ’buildings’ instead of constructing new buildings outside the nest.

Even before we landed, I could tell that the atmosphere around the camp was not good with how the people within were trudging around and most of them sporting wounds on their bodies.

I waited for the ship to land and the ramp to extend out before stepping off the ship.

Of course, with my small army of one hundred and one dogs following me.

You can tell how bad the situation was by the fact that the camp didn’t go into panic mode when I stepped off the ship.

Most of the people in the camp didn’t even realise I was walking along with all those dogs until I got closer and only then did they either scream, faint or just sprint away in a panic.

It would have been hilarious if it wasn’t for the fact that most of these people were quite badly hurt, no doubt from the bugs.

I saw the entrance of the nest a good distance away with the open ground between the camp and the nest entrance littered with remains of bugs and craters that came from the ships hovering above with their guns trained down at the entrance.

I guess that’s the only reason why the bugs were only able to push them out of the tunnels but they could not go any further than that or else they would just be bombarded from above.

I found my girls gathered at the edge of the camp where my Verlandi was parked, all of them eyeing my small army of dogs and... Oops... I think Patricia fainted again... Yep, she just fell over...

Maybe I shouldn’t have just walked up to them with a hundred and one dogs trailing after me...

"Hey girls," I greeted them casually, idly reaching out my hands to pat Freyja and another dog that was beside me on the head. "What’s the situation here?"

They had to tear their gazes off the dogs behind me to look at me.

"Ahem... Well..." Amber muttered, still peeking at the dogs from time to time. "They just ordered a full retreat earlier and... As you can see, they’re here nursing their wounds."

I looked back at the camp.

There were way more people inside and the gear and vehicles they had were definitely more impressive looking than the ones I saw with the Reapers.

Yet many of them were damaged and had what looked like claw marks scratches on their armour plating.

"What’s the plan then?" I asked, turning back to my girls.

Yumiko answered, her hands resting on her swords, "The general is in the command centre... Which is set up in that ship over there, Mistress."

She pointed towards one of the dropships where several people in crisp uniforms that looked out of place in a battlefield like this were moving in and out of.

I got my dogs to move towards the edge of the camp to wait there for me while I proceeded to the dropship with my girls.

There were a few guards standing outside acting as security and they quickly stopped me when I got close. I fully expected them to say things like not allowing Mercs to go there or whatever but...

An officer quickly pulled the guards aside, "What are you doing?! Don’t you recognise them?! That’s the Teran Mercenary Company! They’re sent here by the Admiral to help us deal with this nest! They’ve already cleared five nests on their own!"

The soldiers quickly stepped aside, looking at us like we were monsters.

Ok... So first of all... Technically it’s only three nests since the first one was done with the army of dogs so I don’t think that counts... And secondly... The second last nest was done with the Reapers so we didn’t actually clear it on our own.

Whatever, I’m not going to bother correcting him.

We stepped past the guards to enter the drop ship itself, realising that they had transformed the interior to be a war room of sorts with tables and chairs scattered around and clerks working on terminals while officers moved around carrying orders.

Standing in the middle of the room looking at a war map projection was a rather large, middle aged man with a greying beard wearing a general’s uniform that had several medals pinned on his chest.

He had a scar on his cheek and it looked like his left eye was also cybernetic which was surprising since I would have thought people like him would be using gene mods instead of cyware mods.

I stepped towards the table and the officers surrounding him paused in their talks to look at me, prompting the middle aged man to look up at me as well.

"Captain Tera, I presume?" He asked in a gruff voice.

"Yes. I have been requested by Admiral--"

He raised his hand, "We can dispense with the needless chatter. I am General Rourke, the one in charge of the operation involving this nest. Normally, I should be overseeing the land operations throughout the surface and this was meant to be our place to set up our new base of operations but as you can see, we’re not having a good time. I am aware that you have more experience than anyone else in this godforsaken place on how to deal with these bugs... So I just want to know one thing... Can you deal with this nest?"

I nodded.

He smirked, "Then that’s all I need to know. Tell me what you need to clear out the nest and eradicate these vermin that are crawling beneath our feet."

Woah, wait, wait... Is he really handing me the reins of this operation to me? I’m just going to say that I have no experience leading a campaign, ok?

Oh wait... I think he just wants to know information about the bugs and what I need him to do to command his troops to deal with the nest.

Ok, good, I was about to have a panic attack over there, thinking I might really get dumped with the responsibility of the lives of thousands of soldiers without warning.

Anyway... I guess the first thing I would need to see are your maps and also what equipment you currently have.

Do you... Hehe... Maybe... Have even bigger mechs or tanks? Hehehe... Can I ride one?
