Chapter 924: Squad, Assemble!
I flew the Exo-Knight back to the hangar and disengaged the controls from it, powering it down and letting my senses return to my normal body.
I blinked a few times to orient myself as I had to get used to controlling a body of flesh instead of machine again.
I looked around to make sure I was actually in the cockpit and let the feeling of disorientation slip away from me before I stood up from the seat.
The cockpit doors then opened up, allowing me to step outside and back onto the boarding platform that I then used to descend back down towards the ground.
As the platform touched the ground, I realised my girls were all gathered there, having arrived here some time during my test of the Exo-Knight.
All of them were looking at me with awe on their faces and they started clapping as soon as I stepped off the platform.
"That was so cool, Tera!!"
"You were piloting it like a natural, Mistress."
"I believe this machine is finally good enough to showcase your true capabilities."
"Nyaaa!! Boss! You were so awesome!"
"Indeed, Mistress... I... Umm... Got a little wet..."
"Daddy so cool!!"
"Mmm... As expected of Tera."
I blinked at them, "You girls were watching?"
Amber nodded, "Yep~ There’s a console right over there that showed us what you were doing there~" Amber told me merrily, pointing to a giant screen at the side.
The engineer girl that led me here quickly hopped forward, "Mi... Miss Tera!! Thank you for allowing me to see the capabilities of the new generation Exo-Knights!! I knew they were supposed to be revolutionary, but I never expected that they would be advanced to this level!! It truly is awe inspiring to witness!!"
Ah... I was actually worried that they would see me moving the stuff around Psionically, but it seems like people will believe it’s just part of what the machine can do and not because of the pilot.
I guess that would make more sense than just immediately concluding that the pilot was a Psionic.
Works for me I guess.
I then gestured towards my girls, "So... Are you girls going to try yours out as well?"
The girls quickly nodded their heads, clearly also looking forward to trying them out.
I then nodded at them, "Go ahead then. We might as well just pilot them out of the station and then fly back to the ship from here. Vier can ride with me, the cockpit is spacious enough for two of us. Ah... Do we need to confirm the delivery or something?"
The head engineer quickly brought out her personal terminal, "Ah!! Thank you for reminding me!! Yer, please confirm the delivery right here!"
She then flipped her personal terminal over so that I could see the screen and I went ahead to just sign my name on it to confirm the receipt.
She then bowed, "Thank you for purchasing from us, Miss Tera! We hope to serve you again!"
My girls then went to each of their Exo-Knights which they already knew which ones belonged to them since they played a role in designing them as well.
Amber’s was gold in colour, and it honestly looked like a faceless woman with the head covered with a smooth, featureless helmet and it looked like it was built primarily for speed. Its main armaments seemed to be the autocannons that were attached to its hips though I’m sure there’s other weapon components hidden inside the armour itself.
Lea’s was a red Exo-Knight with green accents and a very eye-catching rifle locked onto its back, clearly meant as some kind of long ranged weapon. The wings jutting out from its back should probably be thrusters that allow the machine to perform accurate shots with that giant rifle without suffering from the recoil.
Ries’s was brown in colour and it looked the heaviest amongst everyone’s with its heavy armour design and it looked like it would function as an artillery platform since it had giant cannons and launchers mounted on not only its arms but shoulders and hips as well. It reminded me of a rugby player with how big its upper body was.
Mara’s Exo-Knight was the smallest with its white armour and red accents and no noticeable armaments aside from a gun mounted on its right arm and a rather distinctive looking backpack strapped behind it. I don’t know why... But something tells me this Exo-Knight’s purpose was meant primarily as a support role instead of a combat role.
Then there was Yumiko’s which I have to say looked the coolest amongst everyone. She made it black with red accents and it kind of looked like a ballerina if the ballerina did not wear a skirt and the design was also crossed with a samurai’s armour. Its primary weapons were obviously the four giant blades on its hips and it had four arms with two jutting out from behind its shoulder blades which made the machine look both beautiful and dangerous at the same time.
Seriously, Yumiko’s was cool as heck.
As for Renata... She went for a standard modular type model which was just a basic humanoid shape Exo-Knight made in her purple colour with basic armaments that included an autocannon, a shield and a shoulder mounted laser cannon.
It was pretty generic but that was the purpose anyway, since she would be eating that thing and then replicating it afterwards to serve as our backup in the event we need them.
Besides... She literally ate a Destroyer the other day so she could technically put Destroyer type weapons on the Exo-Knight as well. I wonder what would happen if she ended up swallowing an entire Battleship?
My girls went to board their Exo-Knights and I went back to mine, stepping into the cockpit with Vier following behind me.
She looked around the unexpectedly spacious cockpit in wonder before her gaze settled on the single seat that lacked any physical controls in the very centre.
"Ah... Of course. I keep forgetting that you are a Psionic, Tera. Fufufu~ Should I stand somewhere?"
I took a seat on the chair and focused my thoughts, prompting another seat to pop up from the ground diagonally behind mine and Vier needed no instruction before she sat on it and strapped herself in.
I went ahead to power up the machine again and closed my eyes right as the ’crown’ descended on my head, allowing me to shift my senses to the titan that I now control.
I rolled my shoulders and detached myself from the Exo-Knight bay, taking a step towards the still open hangar bay doors before looking back at my girls.
Both Amber and Mara were already moving their Exo-Knights like they had been piloting them all their lives, though I guess it would make sense if they were controlling them the same way I was. They should also be using the same control methods since Freiderike and Rosalia knew we were all Psionics.
Lea didn’t seem to have a problem with hers either as she easily detached herself from the dock and took a few careful steps forward, looking like a dancer taking their first steps.
Satisfied with the steps, she spun towards me and followed after Amber and Mara to join me at the hangar bay doors.
Ries seemed to have a little trouble with hers as she had to move a huge, lumbering giant without falling over and needed a moment to figure out its centre of mass.
Still, a moment was all she needed before she was already stomping her way towards me to join us.
Yumiko did not have a problem with hers as well since she also had prior experience with controlling Exo-Knights.
She stepped out of the dock gracefully and turned, her arms making a motion of cracking their knuckles despite not being organic before she started walking with a menacing aura of some high level game boss that you might see in a RPG game.
All she needed was some boss music and it would have been perfect.
Out of all of us... Renata seemed to have the most trouble with hers as her machine seemed to detach itself from the dock before it started spasming all over like it was malfunctioning.
Despite that, it still continued moving towards us before it suddenly straightened itself to walk normally the rest of the way.
Yep... Renata definitely finished consuming the entire machine from the inside out and the entire Exo-Knight was basically just her now.
As soon as everyone was gathered, I connected our comms together and saw screens with each of my lovers’ faces appear in my peripheral vision.
"Ready to go girls? There’s a testing ground near here so you girls can test out your Exo-Knights first. Shall we head there?" I asked.
Everyone voiced their agreement so I turned back to face the void of space again before jumping out, this time with all my girls following behind me.
This feels so awesome~
