What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company?

Chapter 953: Bug Exterminators Here

Chapter 953: Bug Exterminators Here

I strolled into the darkness of the tunnel, my only source of light being the flashlight from my Codex that barely chased away the darkness of the tunnel.

I wondered if the dogs would have any problems seeing in the dark like this since I don’t think their night vision is that great... At least I don’t think so...

Then I looked back at them to see that they were following after me without any problems even though the only source of light was shone in front of me and not anywhere near them so I think they can function perfectly well in the dark.

As I dove deeper, I heard a few screeches at the edge of where the light stopped right before a few of those bugs started crawling its way towards me.

Before this, I had seen them from the view of my Exo-Knight so these things looked relatively small for me but now that I was in my human body... These bugs were actually rather big with each of them being slightly bigger than a human in height.

They rushed towards me and I was worried the dogs would also rush forward to attack them in front of me without my order but surprisingly, they stayed where they were as though waiting for my command.

They were, however, hunched up and ready to pounce at the approaching bugs at any time.

I stepped forward and swung my halberd, watching as the head detached itself and letting me control its flight path with my telekinesis and cleaving through the first two bugs like they were made of paper.

I then blasted the third bug with my shotgun, the slug round punching through the centre of its body and leaving a hole which spurted out green blood as it let out a shrill cry before toppling over to bleed out on the floor.

The last two bugs tried to jump at me so I concentrated my will on them and sent them flying back with my telekinesis, smashing them into the wall and crushing them flat.

I then tilted my shotgun to the side and slid another slug round into the tube with my telekinesis, not even needing to use my other hand to load it.

My advancement continued as the dogs followed after me as well, all of them wagging their tails like we were here for an adventure instead of an extermination.

Can’t fault them either since I was having a hard time imagining this to be an extermination mission while being accompanied by a small army of dogs.

The burrow seemed to go down pretty deep as we continued our dive, sometimes hearing the screeches of bugs coming from the distance but never really seeing any of them.

I had a thought about this mission while we were moving here since this was just one of the many burrows that were scattered around... What’s stopping the bugs from running out of the other burrows once we start attacking their nest? Or are they the type of creature that will fight to the death to defend its nest no matter what?

Either way, too late to think about it now since we’re already here and I’m only down here to accompany the dogs and kill bugs, not to think about some grand strategy or something..

I frowned slightly when I realised that the tunnel remained looking the same even after walking for a while, making me wonder just how deep these tunnels were supposed to go.

I looked behind me, seeing that the only ones that could see me were the dogs and there was no one else around me...

I then grinned at the dogs, "Keep up."

I levitated into the air and shot myself forward, prompting the dogs to let out happy barks as they start running after me like I just gave them permission to play.

The walls of the tunnel sped past me and I quickly passed through a few junctions where other tunnels leading up to the surface joined up with this one like they were merging lanes to a highway.

Even then, I still did not see any other bugs around aside from the small group that we met earlier.

The tunnel then started to enlarge as even more tunnels merged into this one, making me realise that this was a main tunnel that most likely led deep inside their nest so I accelerated myself to move faster, the dogs still managing to keep up despite my increase in speed.

Then, abruptly, the tunnel suddenly ended at the edge of a deep cavern.

I stopped at the edge and looked down, finding what appeared to be glowing crystals jutting out from the walls all around the cavern to illuminate the area which would have been pitch black otherwise.

Those crystals must be the Prisma that the government is after and honestly... There’s really a shitload of them... And this was just in a single random cavern under the ground... The whole planet could be filled with this which would make sense why they didn’t mind using so much resources just to reclaim it.

And occupying almost every visible spot around the cavern... Were the reasons why we have yet to claim this planet for humanity.

The bugs crawled around the walls, ceiling and ground, the sound of their feet skittering around echoing off the walls of the cavern.

I have already seen an entire sea of bugs on the surface but seeing an entire cavern of them filled to the brim was a different experience altogether.

I am so glad that I don’t have a phobia of bugs because if I did... This place would probably be worse than hell for me.

The dogs around me growled at the sight of the bugs, though their growls were barely audible over the cacophony of skittering sounds that the bugs were making.

Alright... Before we start here... I wanted to try something since we’re all the way down here with no witnesses anyway... And the bugs seemed to not have noticed our presence either...

I slung my rifle behind me and let my halberd float beside me, freeing my hands to stretch them out in front of me as I concentrated my senses outwards to reach it as far as I could into the cavern.

A shudder went up my spine slightly as I could feel the thousands of crawling insects all around the cavern like they were crawling around my skin but I managed to suppress the urge to slap them away as I focused on exerting my will over the area.

I felt a calm settle over my mind and the world seemed to come to a stop as I sucked in a deep breath to focus on what I wanted to do over the entire area.

My hands lowered down slightly.

The effect was almost instantaneous as all the bugs in a large area within the cavern suddenly fell towards the ground, even the ones on the ceiling found themselves being forced to drop down and crash onto the ground like something had pulled them down.

There was a moment of silence before the entire cavern was filled with the sound of thousands of bugs suddenly going ’squish’.

In an instant, all those bugs here were completely squashed dead.

But even with that, there were even more of them deeper in the caverns and the death of their comrades had triggered them.

The cavern shook as the wave of bugs from the deeper caverns started flooding out, all of them rushing towards my direction like a flood pouring out from the other tunnels.

I snatched my halberd and unslung my shotgun again, watching them skitter towards me while clacking their mandibles angrily at me.

Even though I was faced with such a horde, I don’t know why I didn’t feel scared at all.

Maybe...

I turned to the side, looking at the dogs that were all hunched up and ready, their low growls filling the air as they readied themselves for a fight. None of them even showed any signs of being afraid despite the overwhelming number of enemies in front of us.

Not only that, I also felt my clothes tighten around me slightly as Renata was also with me, clearly also eager to help me if she had to.

My lips curled up in a slight smile and I could almost hear the sound of an electric guitar riff starting up in the distance.

I’m not fighting demons here but... I guess I do have a shotgun in one hand and something like a blade in my other.

I tightened my grip on my weapons and grinned at the dogs, "Let’s rip... And tear!"

I jumped down into the cavern with the sound of five hundred dogs barking and running after me, all of them charging alongside me towards the horde of bugs while running on top of the carcasses of crushed bugs.
