Chapter 954: Cleaving, Shooting And Crushing The Bugs
I stabbed my halberd into the first bug before swinging it to slice through the other bugs beside it.
One of them tried to jump at me so I fired my shotgun to blast it back while crushing another bug with my telekinesis.
The dogs then charged into the fray, tearing them apart and ripping all the bugs at the front to shreds.
I then jumped into the air and crashed down deeper in the horde of bugs, smashing a group of them into the ground as I used my telekinesis to create a Psionic bubble around me that would crush the bugs that I landed on.
My halberd swung in an arc, cleaving through the crowd of bugs that were immediately in front of me and I squeezed the trigger on my shotgun, blasting one at the side through its head.
I brought my halberd back up again and swung it down in an overhead slash, cleaving another bug into half.
Before the two halves of the bug could even split apart, I spun around and swung my halberd in a circle, letting the axe head fly and cleaving through more of the bugs and cutting them into half.
One of them tried to leap at me from behind me, only to have me lift up my shotgun and blow its head out without looking at it.
The axe head attached back to my halberd pole again, allowing me to brace it before charging deeper into the horde, skewering another bug that had tried to attack me and using it as a shield to bowl my way through them.
Bugs were sent flying left and right as I charged through them, the unfortunate bug being skewered on my halberd being crushed by its own comrades until it was nothing more than half of a corpse still dangling at the tip of my polearm.
I stepped back and shook the corpse off, dislodging it from the spear tip while shooting another bug down with a slug round and reloading it with my telekinesis almost immediately.
I fired a few more shots from my shotgun, blowing three more bows through their heads with the slug rounds before spinning myself to deliver a few quick slashes that sliced through several bugs that tried to rush at me.
The dogs then caught up with me as they charged through the horde, turning all of the bugs they came across into nothing but corpses that joined the growing pile on the ground.
I leapt into the air once again, this time floating there for a moment as I concentrated my senses at an area in front of me before pressing my Psionic force down.
All the bugs in that area got crushed underneath my telekinetic force and I used that as my landing zone, this time having a bigger area to work with.
One of those big armoured bugs crawled its way out of the crowd and tried to advance its way towards me while being flanked by a few of its smaller brethren.
I spun my halberd in my hand and did three quick slashes, slicing through the three bugs that were sent out in an attempt to flank me before doing one more slash to send the axe flying forward in an arc towards the armoured bug.
I was honestly only testing this out since I’ve seen this bug deflect lasers and kinetic projectiles with its carapace so I wasn’t really expecting to do much damage to it.
But unexpectedly, I watched my axe slice through the hard carapace like it was made of paper, cutting through it and leaving a slash through the upper half of its body.
The bug let out a pained screech and curled itself back, already regretting its decision of trying to attack me.
Huh... So this halberd can cleave through that?
I guess this is why Yumiko insisted that her swords only be made by that specific Zwerger smith and not anyone else. This weapon is awesome~
I lifted up the pole and swung the axehead up into the air before swinging it back down, slicing the bug’s head to split it into two and killing it with a loud squelch.
Right then, I heard something wet being spit towards me from behind and I instinctively turned around to focus my telekinesis to form a wall in front of me meant to suspend anything shot at me in the air.
Sure enough, I found the blue acid spit from the red cockroach bug frozen in midair a few feet away from me.
I decided to test something by tossing the acid spit back towards the bugs, splashing some of it on the red cockroach and the other bugs that were around it.
While the red cockroach was obviously not affected by it, the other normal bugs ended up getting melted by the acid and had their chitin eaten away by the corrosive liquid.
The cockroach bug tried to rear up its head to shoot another of its acid spit at me but a quick shot from my shotgun stopped it as the slug round blasted its head apart.
As though reacting to that, a larger bug suddenly flew down from the ceiling, this one with scythes for arms as it pulled it back in an attempt to slash at me.
I attempted to parry it with my halberd, my axe blade slicing through the air and aiming at its bladed arm.
But when my axe clashed against its arm, there were no sparks or even much of an impact as my halberd sliced through its organic blade cleanly.
The bug landed behind me while swinging its now cut off scythe arm forward, expecting it to slice through me but stopping when it realised that it did not feel any resistance either.
It then looked down at its arm quizzically as it was not missing, turning back to look at me as though to check what happened only to have a slug pellet blast its head off.
Its headless corpse wobbled for a moment before crashing down on the ground while I slid in another slug round into my shotgun with my telekinesis.
I raised up my head and narrowed my eyes at the still unending horde of bugs that were still spilling out of the tunnels and skittering towards me.
Still can’t rest yet I see...
In that case...
"Renata..."
"Ehehehe! I thought you would never ask, Daddy! Let’s go!!"
I released my tentacles and used them to smash against the ground to propel me into the air.
I slashed through a few of the bugs before Renata sent a mass of her black tentacles flying out from me, turning me into some kind of porcupine as her tentacles pierced through a large number of those bugs and consumed them.
Gravity pulled me back to the ground and I slammed my foot down on a bug, using my Psionic force to crush it under my foot as Renata shot out a blob from my heel to consume it.
I lashed out my tentacles as well, smashing the bugs near my away while shooting and slicing the ones in front of me with my shotgun and halberd.
Renata reared up her tentacles again and crushed even more of them and consumed them rapidly, including another of those red cockroaches and one of those armoured bugs.
The dogs charged around her tentacles, not even bothered that there were eldritch appendages currently swinging all around them and continued their slaughter of the bugs and acting like this was just something they saw on a daily basis.
As if that was the trigger, a loud roar filled the cavern and I looked ahead to see a humanoid looking bug that was standing on two legs and at least two metres tall with four arms staring at me with its compound eyes.
It looked like some kind of rhinoceros beetle except that it was standing on two legs and had really muscular arms.
It jumped towards me, smashing into the ground in front of me and shaking the earth before it lifted its gaze slowly like it was trying to threaten me with its stature.
I had no reason to let it try and do anything so I just reached out my senses towards its head and crushed it with a pop.
Its head exploded from my telekinesis and its body straightened itself for a moment before toppling backwards, as if the body needed a moment to realise it was already dead.
As though that wasn’t a warning enough, even more of them started jumping out of the tunnels to start rushing at me, clearly intending to stop me by any means necessary.
I’m going to assume these things are like the elite guards of these bugs so if they’re sending these things out to fight me... I must be getting close to something important, aren’t I?
Well in that case, you guys better make way then, because I’m not stopping here~
