Chapter 300 – Souvenir

It was after 8 p.m.

“Yahoo!”

“Yahoo!”

“Good evening.”

“Mm, do you want some, too, Loki?”

It was late, but the goddesses who had finished their work on the plateau had descended. Around the house were just three of them: Alicia, Ril, and Felin.

They were eating some kind of charred meat, but I gracefully ignored it and got straight to the point.

“Somehow—today—”

“””Somehow—?”””

“I went to the dungeon! Sorry to keep you waiting! I brought back tons of seeds!”

“Ooh! Thanks! That’s a huge amount!”

I knew it.

I don’t know how many I killed, but I picked up every seed and nut they dropped.

I packed them into a medium-sized leather bag until it was stuffed to the brim. Then I dumped them all onto the large stone table I made.

“There are many different kinds mixed together, aren’t there?”

“Yeah, exactly. It’s probably because so many different kinds of seeds drop. It’s a pain that they inevitably end up like this when you bring them back.”

“I can help sort them if you want.”

“I want to eat what I make, too. I’ll help.”

“Hmm…”

Felin was troubled over the huge pile of seeds spread out on the table.

If sorting was too much trouble, she’d consider selling them all at once to a seed vendor.

“Hey, what if I use Spatial Magic to store them all, and then pull them out selectively? That way, they can be sorted automatically, right?”

“Hoho.”

“I see.”

“Felin, what’s the matter?”

“?”

Alicia’s last remark seemed meaningful.

It’s true that if you know the varieties, you could probably pull them out by type.

Felin-san seems much sharper than usual today.

“I’ll go get the Spatial Magic! Wait a sec!”

She said that and left for a moment.

She returned with a smile, stowing away the seeds one by one and then calling them out one after another.

“Cucumber seeds!”

“Cabbage seeds!”

“Popoloi seeds!”

“Corn seeds!”

“Kobukuro seeds!”

(What are Popoloi… and Kobukuro?)

Unfamiliar names kept popping up.

Still, small handfuls of seeds kept appearing in Felin’s hands, so I just kept producing stone plates and sorting the seeds.

But then, something occurred to me. I remembered one crucial thing.

“Felin, hold on.”

“Huh?”

How could I not prioritize this one thing above all else?

“Rice seeds…or is it called seed rice? Could you sort the rice for me?”

“The stuff Loki wanted?”

“Okaaay! Rice seeds!”

Flutter, flutter…

Then, about five grains appeared.

Even so, they were unmistakably recognizable as rice.

“Woohoo!! Finally, ‘rice’ is hereeeee!”

“Wh-what kind of amazing food is this?”

“I don’t know… B-but judging by Loki’s face, it might be something to look forward to.”

“This feels like a huge responsibility, though!”

Felin was worrying unnecessarily, but since the rice came from a dungeon, it could be bought somewhere.

So he wasn’t overly concerned.

Of course, growing conditions would matter, too. But if things went well, Felin might produce rice so delicious that it would be beyond imagination.

All I’m doing is puffing out my chest and nostrils with anticipation.

While the three of them were sorting seeds using their divine knowledge, I had another errand to run.

When I asked about Feeril’s whereabouts, I learned that she was strolling deep in the forest. Using Flight, I spotted her standing by the riverbank with her arms spread wide.

Standing alone in the pitch-black forest in her usual white dress, she looked like a ghost, taking a deep breath, to anyone who saw her.

“Um… Is that you, Feeril-san?”

“Ara~, Loki-kun, what’s the matter?”

“I was looking for you because I have something to give you. What are you doing here?”

“I was talking with the forest.”

“…?”

Oh no, Feeril is starting to sound like a spirit.

She was a world-class NEET until now. Suddenly, she started working. Maybe the stress is messing with her head.

“Feeril. When you’re tired, let this heal you, okay?”

With that, I handed her a small turtle.

I was most worried about its survival, but after regularly sprinkling it with water, it became surprisingly lively and started wriggling.

For now, though, I’m using Taming to keep it calm for transport.

“Oh my!”

“I went to the dungeon today, so I figured I’d leave all the creatures to you for now.”

Then came the other two species.

I handed the rabbit and chick to Feeril, too. I guess even common creatures make her happy.

Her face lit up as she gently cradled them.

“Thank you so much! I’ll take good care of them!”

“I plan to keep going to the beginner dungeon until I clear it, so I should be able to get more creatures. If it gets too tough, just say the word, okay? They buy things back over there, too.”

“No worries! It’s so spacious here, and I want to try raising all kinds of creatures!”

Hmm… If she says so, maybe I can just bring them along without worrying.

I’m a bit worried about invasive species, but if it’s a good company, they’ll probably handle that skillfully.

So, the issue of wanting to grow Felin seeds and Feeril creatures is mostly sorted.

Ril seemed to want minerals, but I can always drop those off at Lodge’s place.

Yeah, for now, this should be fine.

Well, I’d better get organized before I forget!

I flew back to the secret base immediately to compile the information I’d heard from the appraisal shop owner today.
