Chapter 301 – Travel Abroad
I wrote today’s information in my notebook and spent several minutes staring at it and humming to myself.
Of course, there’s a lot I won’t know until I try it out.
However, by adding my own interpretations based on experience and knowledge, I can see what I should prioritize acquiring next.
“Skill Seeds.”
These are probably rare items that I should secure as soon as I find them.
They undoubtedly grant skill points, but the real question is how many points one seed grants.
If it costs 100 million Beeke per seed and only increases skill points by one, that would be a brutal design.
However, if you’re dealing with wealthy people, this seems entirely plausible, and I’m already worried sick about my wallet.
Next is the “Growth Seed.”
This one has a much lower acquisition priority. I probably won’t bother bidding on it at auction.
The old man mentioned “children,” but it’s more effective the closer you are to level 1 — someone who hasn’t defeated a monster yet. In other words, it’s likely this is a seed that grants a fixed amount of experience points.
Even if I gained that minuscule amount of EXP, my EXP bar wouldn’t budge 0.01%. Therefore, pouring money into this item would contribute almost nothing to my growth.
To be fair, though, the required EXP is fixed regardless of your level.
It’s not unheard of for EXP gained from monsters to approach zero the farther you are from the optimal level range. If I get one in the future, I might try using it.
As for the “Special-Infused Weapons & Accessories”… well, that depends on the appraisal result.
I’d like to know what special infusions exist and their patterns, but the old man seemed to have seen very few, so he couldn’t give me a clear answer.
Still, he hinted at effects like increased EXP and skill EXP gain. If I could get one of these rare items, I’d likely keep it, even if it’s a low-tier material.
In terms of how hard they are to obtain, these special enhancements seem to be the toughest of the common rare items.
As for the “books” for skills and jobs, it depends on what’s inside.
The job ones are just a matter of personal preference, so I’ll try an inexpensive one first.
Skill books are thicker and guarantee skill acquisition from zero. In my experience, that’s roughly equivalent to defeating one monster with skill level 3.
Normally, I wouldn’t need to buy them. In fact, I’d probably sell them for cash.
Even if I had thousands of them, the best I could hope for is around skill level 7.
However, it’s different if the skill is rare with unlock conditions, such as Spirit Magic or Curse Magic.
For skills that I have no hope of getting from monsters, I’d use skill books to force-learn them, getting them to level 1 first and then grinding them up steadily.
This seems like the natural progression, and I suspect wealthy folks probably use them similarly.
Now, the final item: “Fragments of Wisdom.”
For this one, I’ll just have to grind steadily.
The old man doesn’t seem to know the details, but he does know that each page is composed of 25 fragments and that adjacent fragments naturally connect when they touch.
Lower-numbered fragments tend to appear at auctions, so wealthy individuals could probably gather the first ten pages or so. But that’s usually the limit.
After page 20, he said, it’s collective entities like nations that pile up money to collect them.
It’s a world where fragments costing hundreds of millions or billions are commonplace.
Furthermore, in beginner dungeons, the old man has only seen a fragment from page 30 or beyond once, so aiming for anything beyond special enhancements here isn’t realistic.
If I want to collect them, I should hurry and head to the intermediate or advanced dungeons.
Bam, bam, bam…
There’s a dream.
There’s excitement, too.
It connects to my own growth, too.
But choosing it as a “hunting ground” would probably be my last resort.
It’s just a vague feeling.
It’s only after maxing out the “Luck” stat, whose purpose I never quite understood until now.
Even when thinking about the most efficient way to get stronger, this feels like the best approach.
Roam the “field” to gain gold and skills, and pour that gold into self-improvement.
When I reach a point where the field can’t solve it and gold can’t easily fix it, I’ll hole up in a dungeon, aim for the pinnacle, and take down a weird existence, like the rotting dragon.
Just imagining that scenario makes me grin involuntarily, but that’s incredibly far off.
The problem right in front of me is more important right now.
How do I handle this beginner dungeon that I could easily clear just by traversing it?
(Hmm… I wonder if they’re still awake.)
Glancing at the clock, I see that it’s past 9 p.m.
If they’re up while I’m taking a bath, I’ll ask them. I teleported down to the lower plateau.

“Good morning! Is May-chan here?”
“Oh, Loki-kun, good morning! I think May’s still asleep.”
The next morning, I ended up staying at Bezart’s.
The reason was…well, how should I put it? Zeo and the others rejected me.
In the end, we all took a bath together and held a meeting about the dungeon. First, Zeo knew much more about dungeons than I’d imagined.
In the beginner dungeon, the “Treasure-Saving Labyrinth,” the monsters near the deepest part were apparently only around D-rank. Clearly, with me, Carla, who is extremely strong, and Lodge, who is surprisingly tough for a blacksmith, thanks to power leveling, it would be overkill to bring them along.
Zeo pointed out that we’d essentially be taking a leisurely stroll through the dungeon, one-shotting everything. Everyone agreed that he was absolutely right.
It might have made sense if it had helped Zeo’s recovery or debuff removal, but we had already done the basic experiment of letting him absorb experience from A-rank monsters near our base.
Ultimately, no debuff removal conditions were found. His strength is gradually returning through moderate exercise and proper meals. Forcing a four-person party would be pointless.
Therefore, we decided to aim for the advanced dungeon, the Astoll of Creation, which Zeo used to frequent. It consists of 100 floors, and S-rank monsters also appear there.
Lodge is a blacksmith, so I assume he’ll stay behind.
If the three of us have trouble, I’ll dash through the dungeon alone and finish quickly.
As I was thinking this and talking with May-chan’s parents, she finally appeared with her wild, unkempt hair.
When I shared my “travel plan,” May-chan and her parents widened their eyes, but the person in question immediately broke into a huge smile.
“Zink and Potta will totally be fine!”
She was so confident that I figured, well, maybe it’ll be okay. We set the date for two days later. In the meantime, I decided to focus solely on clearing the dungeon and disregard mapping, just in case.
Then, two days later…
“Gyaaaaaah! It’s so amazing!”
Guided by May-chan, who was holding on to my back, we flew through the sky to Potta-kun’s house first.
After greeting Potta-kun’s mother, who looked just like him and whom I already knew, I lifted Potta-kun onto my back, too. Then, we headed to Zink-kun’s house.
“I’m Loki. I’ll take full responsibility for looking after him.”
“Fufu, I’m not worried at all. Zink, don’t cause any trouble for Loki-kun, okay?”
“It’ll be fine! Just go inside already, Mom!”
(Such a teenager…)
Pushed from behind, I bowed deeply to Zink-kun’s mother as she entered the house, smiling wryly.
What an incredibly beautiful mother.
She’s stunningly beautiful. He should be proud to show her off.
Zink-kun seemed restless.
May-chan’s face practically burst with excitement.
Potta-kun’s eyes were wide open today, unlike usual.
Facing these three, I opened my mouth dramatically.
“Did you bring a change of underwear?”
“””We did!”””
“Did you bring money for souvenirs?”
“””Yes!”””
The children’s lively voices echoed along the morning path.
They were already wearing their equipment, so there shouldn’t be any problems.
If they forgot something, they could just buy it in the next town.
“All right, then. Let’s go! A two-day, one-night trip abroad!”
