Chapter 795 - 11: Conversation
Chapter 795: Chapter 11: Conversation
The surrounding space suddenly darkened, as if all light had been instantly withdrawn. Lynch felt his consciousness being forcibly dragged by an irresistible power, plunging into a completely dark, void-like strange space.
Here, there was no sense of up or down, no gravity, no sound, not even a tangible feeling of time passing, as if standing in a dead silent, uncivilized cosmic abyss.
Lynch furrowed his brow, alarm bells ringing in his heart. He immediately attempted to unfold his own Space Domain, with powerful spiritual power spreading outward like invisible ripples, trying to analyze, locate, and even tear apart the constraints of this bizarre space.
However, what made his heart sink slightly was that no matter how far he extended the Space Domain, wherever the spiritual power reached, it was still a void, unable to touch any boundary at all.
This dark space truly seemed like the external universe, vast and boundless.
Just as Lynch focused his mind, ready to engage the Time Law and that sliver of Rule Power for deeper probing, a calm yet commanding voice cleaving the absolute silence of the space emerged clearly, as if echoing directly in the depth of his soul:
"Do not engage in futile struggles. This is my ’Ritual Sea,’ a realm intertwined with faith and will. With your Domain Level spiritual power, it’s impossible to find the boundaries here, let alone forcefully leave."
As the voice faded, a distortion rippled like water waves in the darkness ahead. A figure slowly materialized, solidifying from the void.
It was Erodion!
The appearance he displayed now was not like the monstrous form seen in the underground cave of the Water Capital, but a return to the image from the Shadow Tower years ago: a simple pure white robe, pristine and clean, the soft material contouring his upright figure.
The collar bore a mysterious symbol radiating faint golden light, adding a transcendent aura to him. He held a long white magic wand matching his height, with a gentle and profound magical halo flowing at its tip.
At first glance, he still seemed like the wise, awe-inspiring "Wise Man," possibly the most traditional wizard-like figure among the group, exuding a perceptive aura of worldly insight.
However, a careful look into his eyes would reveal a stark difference from before. Former profound wisdom was now replaced by a sharp gaze like a raptor’s, whereas submerged within that sharpness lay an undisguisable, potentially eruptive twist and madness, forming an eerie contrast with his wise elder’s image.
Erodion stood quietly in the void, with his gaze falling upon Lynch, scanning him from head to toe, his mouth emitting clicks of wonder, his tone carrying a trace of sentiment, a hint of playfulness, and an almost imperceptible loftiness:
"Unexpected indeed... That cautious and inconspicuous little apprentice from the Tower has grown to such an extent in just a few hundred years."
He lightly shook his head, seemingly reminiscing, continuing, "Back then, when Reo mentioned that you might be harboring some unusual secrets, possibly linked with ancient beings, I was skeptical, dismissing it as his over-sensitivity and suspicion... Now it seems his intuition is probably sharper than I imagined."
As the former Witch Master of the Shadow Tower, he seldom showed himself, yet the entire Shadow Tower and even the Dark Forest remained under his spiritual command, from apprentices to secret skills, none could escape his gaze.
And Lynch, being a uniquely special apprentice, was gifted the Undying Bird’s Feather by him, leaving a deep impression indeed.
Lynch, situated within this bizarre ’Ritual Sea,’ facing the former controller of the Shadow Tower, maintained basic courtesy, bowing slightly with a Wizard’s greeting: "Master of the Witch."
Erodion waved dismissively, his tone calm yet distanced: "Master of the Witch? No need to use that title anymore. The present me no longer is the Shadow Tower’s master, and the Shadow Tower itself has become a bygone cloud, no longer exists."
Lynch’s expression remained unchanged, responding humbly: "Regardless of the Shadow Tower’s existence, when I first arrived in the Wizard World with weak abilities, it was indeed thanks to you and the protection from the Wizard Tower that I experienced a comparatively peaceful growth period. This grace, I have always remembered."
"Oh?" Erodion’s white eyebrows twitched slightly, finding it interesting, he straightforwardly said, "Since you still remember this ’grace,’ it’s perfect. Join the Freemasonry Church, continue to serve me."
"Under the new order, the position and power you could attain will be no less than anywhere else."
Lynch shook his head decisively, rejecting firmly: "Sorry, I appreciate your good intentions, but this matter, I’m afraid I must decline."
Erodion did not immediately get angry, instead coaxed as though gently persuading: "I remember clearly, you are Muggle-born, carrying none of the wizard family’s ’noble’ bloodline."
"From stance and origin, you naturally ought to be on our Freemasonry Church’s side. Those who regard you as inferior, oppressing you for countless years, the Purebloods, shouldn’t they be your enemies?"
Lynch raised his eyes, his gray eyes meeting Erodion’s gaze, seemingly wise yet concealing madness, posed no stance-related answer but queried: "Then, did you sacrifice so much effort to create this Freemasonry Church, ignite the warfare sweeping across the Ancient Ruins, truly..."
"Is it for the ’absolute fairness and justice’ world you advocate? Is it really merely to overthrow the oppression of Muggles by the Wizard Families?"
"Ha ha... Hahahaha..."
Upon hearing this, Erodion first paused slightly before, as if amused by something extremely ridiculous, burst out laughing unexpectedly. The laughter echoed through the void space of consciousness, tinged with unconcealed mockery and some kind of frenzy.
Though he did not provide any direct answer, the mocking and disdainful laughter had made the answer glaringly apparent.
After a bout of laughter, Erodion slowly stopped, his gaze toward Lynch turned icy and oppressive, like observing an interesting collectible. He slowly spoke, his voice bearing undeniable decisiveness:
"Since that’s the case... Then, you shall remain here."
"It’s just fitting that I take this chance to thoroughly ’understand’...those unusual ’secrets’ Reo swore to me existed in you."
