Chapter 796 - 12: Domain vs. Rules
Chapter 796: Chapter 12: Domain vs. Rules
Erodion stopped speaking further. He seemingly casually raised his right hand, lightly pointing forward with his slender index finger.
In an instant, a glimmer of light suddenly burst forth in the deathly silent dark void! Initially as weak as a spark, the light began to rapidly expand and magnify the moment it appeared!
As it crossed the void and approached Lynch, it had already transformed into an immensely large, burning fireball with destructive energy, resembling a miniature sun falling from above, aiming to completely engulf and incinerate Lynch along with the space he occupied!
The scorching heat wave rushed forward, and the light was so glaring it was blinding.
As Lynch’s figure seemed about to be completely engulfed by the raging flames, he merely raised one hand calmly and pressed down gently.
"Buzz——!"
The space laws beneath his feet were silently rewritten at this moment. The space itself began to stretch and extend infinitely in a way that defied logic!
Even though the destructive fireball was nearly inches away, so close that its surface’s flaming patterns were clearly visible, the actual "distance" between it and Lynch was being infinitely elongated. No matter how fiercely it advanced, it seemed to be separated by an invisible chasm and could never truly land on Lynch’s head.
Simultaneously, a dark green energy, imbued with the essence of dead silence and decay, spread from the void beneath Lynch’s feet, swiftly entwining around his arm and finally converging at his raised fingertip.
That was the manifestation of the Decaying Domain’s rules!
Facing the brilliant "sun" so close yet unreachable, Lynch combined his fingers like a sword, lightly pointing forward.
"Sizzle——!"
The dark green Power of Decay climbed up like a vine finding its perfect host, instantly winding around the massive fireball. Instead of a world-shattering explosion, there was only a teeth-gritting sound, as if everything was accelerating toward its end, a constant "pfft" echoing.
Under the erosion of the Decaying Domain, the originally dazzling, energy-laden fireball began to rapidly dull and char, like rotten wood losing all moisture and vitality, beginning to decay and wither extensively!
One by one, huge, irregular cracks spread across its surface. Finally, the entire fireball silently crumbled and disintegrated into countless dim energy fragments, dissipating into the void’s darkness.
For the first time, Erodion’s previously calm and expressionless face showed a clear astonishment. His white eyebrows arched, and a hint of inquisitive light brightened in his eyes as he softly questioned:
"Hmm? This is... Space Stretching, coupled with such pure Power of Decay... dual domains?"
His gaze refocused on Lynch, the curiosity and investigative look in his eyes suddenly intensifying, as if he was observing a rare treasure. He spoke slowly, with a tone of realization:
"In the rumors, it’s said that the new Lord of Emerald has mastered at least three different domains... I always thought that was just the old guys from the Supreme Council making baseless boasts in their ’God Creation’ movement to set a benchmark and boost morale."
He paused, his voice carrying an uncontainable interest: "Now it appears... these rumors aren’t entirely baseless after all!"
"Impressive! Truly impressive!"
Erodion uttered words of admiration, yet his offensive did not halt in the slightest; instead, it became even more fierce. In this "Ritual Sea" commanded by him, his will seemed to be the law of the world.
Suddenly, the vast Spiritual Field behind him seethed and condensed, transforming into a colossal phantom reaching to the heavens, its visage indiscernible but emanating a divine-like majesty. With one hand pressing down, countless purple-white thunders, thick as giant trees, ripped through the darkness with a destructive aura, striking straight down at Lynch!
Lynch’s eyes narrowed, and he exerted his Space Domain to its fullest, his figure flickering continuously within inches, narrowly brushing past the raging thunder light each time. Simultaneously, the Decaying Domain turned into a gray-green mist barrier, constantly eroding and nullifying the approaching Thunder Energy, turning it into nothingness.
However, Erodion’s attacks were ceaseless, wave after wave like relentless tides. The massive phantom flipped its hand, and a torrential downpour began!
But this was no ordinary rain; each drop solidified and stretched in its descent, transforming into spears of ice crystals glistening with ghostly blue light, imbued with piercing coldness and the sharpness of penetrating laws, overwhelming the space, sealing off every possible escape for Lynch!
Facing this all-encompassing, unrelenting saturation attack, Lynch utilized Space Folding and the Power of Decay and Deterioration to the extreme. The space around him continuously twisted and folded, forming layer upon layer of defensive barriers. The ice lances that broke through the spatial defenses quickly corroded and disintegrated upon contact with the decaying mist.
The situation was extremely perilous, with Lynch’s figure appearing like a canoe in a storm, always on the brink of being swallowed amidst the thunder and ice lances. He barely managed to block and evade this round of ferocious attacks, his aura inevitably somewhat chaotic.
But just as he stabilized himself, old strength exhausted and new strength not yet born, he was astonished to discover that a giant hand, made purely of spiritual power and vast enough to cover the sky, had already silently closed around him, its palm securely imprisoning him!
Erodion’s immense phantom slowly drew the hand close, scrutinizing Lynch as if examining the creature in his palm, his voice carrying an absolute sense of control: "A remarkable use of domains, the combination of Space and Decay is exquisite. But against true Rule Power, all this is meaningless."
He asked, with a hint of interest: "I recall the rumors saying you mastered three domains. Besides Space and Decay, there should be one more. Why haven’t you used it?"
Imprisoned in the giant hand of spiritual power, seemingly on the verge of being crushed, Lynch’s face showed no trace of panic. He even shrugged indifferently, candidly admitting, "You’re right, before the Rules, any Domain is meaningless."
Seeing Lynch remain so calm despite his dire situation, a sliver of doubt arose in Erodion’s mind.
However, just at this moment——
"Tick... tick... tick..."
A clear and rhythmic sound, like a clock ticking, abruptly resounded in this void space supposedly filled only with Erodion’s will!
Erodion’s expression abruptly changed, he looked up sharply.
Only to see a colossal, complexly structured clock phantom manifesting out of nowhere above the void, emitting an ancient air of time, with its hands exuding a dim glow of time.
Then, under Erodion’s incredulous gaze, the hands of the clock... started moving in reverse!
"Buzz——!"
An irresistible Rule Power, surpassing all, instantly enveloped the entire "Ritual Sea"! Time began to reverse at this moment!
The fierce battle that just happened played out in reverse like a rewinding image: the closing giant hand reopened, Lynch’s figure retreated out of control; the scattered ice spears reconsolidated, flying back into the sky and turning into raindrops; the thunder tearing through space reeled back, merging into the phantom’s hand... everything was rewinding at an astonishing speed!
In mere breaths, the surrounding scene stabilized completely.
Erodion found himself still standing in place, the giant phantom yet to condense, while Lynch was standing calmly at his original spot, as if that heart-stopping skirmish between them had never occurred.
Time had accurately reversed to the moment their initial conversation ended.
