Chapter 838: Chapter 374: Continuing Cultivation_2
"But where is the source of the cold wave?" Reina frowned and asked.
David’s gaze was fixed deep into the Far North: "The source of the cold wave lies at the heart of the ice field. There stands an ancient Frost Altar, sealing the power of the Ice World. If we can destroy the altar, we can prevent the arrival of the cold wave."
"Then let’s move quickly." Amy tightened her grip on her Magic Staff, a glimmer of determination in her eyes.
David nodded, then led Amy and Reina into the depths of the Far North.
As the three ventured further, the temperature around them dropped lower and lower, the air filled with biting cold.
A thick layer of ice covered the ground, and beneath it, plants and animals, sealed in ice, could be vaguely seen. The surroundings were deathly silent, broken only by the howling wind.
"The Ice Power here... it’s too strong."
Reina whispered, her body trembling slightly, obviously struggling against the chill.
David waved his hand, and a warm Energy Barrier enveloped the three, isolating them from the cold outside.
"Hold on, we’re almost there." David muttered softly, his eyes fixed forward.
The closer they got to the center, the more he could feel the World Origin Power of the Ice World.
This was also why he had been suppressing his own power, fearing that his strength might attract the attention of the world origin.
After a long journey, the three finally arrived at the deepest part of the ice field.
There stood a gigantic Frost Altar, engraved with ancient runes, which glowed with a cold blue light.
In the center of the altar hovered a massive ice-blue crystal, emitting a powerful Ice Power, which was the force behind the cold wave.
"There it is, the source of the cold wave." David whispered, his gaze serious.
"How do we destroy it?" Amy asked, a hint of confusion in her eyes.
David pondered for a moment, then softly said, "The runes on the altar are key to sealing the power of the Ice World. If we can destroy these runes, we can sever the connection between the Ice World and the Bright Continent."
"But the power of these runes is too strong," Reina frowned. "How do we destroy them?"
Determination flickered in David’s eyes: "We need to simultaneously attack the four corners of the altar and disrupt the runic structures. Only then can we completely destroy the altar."
"Then let’s do it." Amy nodded, gripping her Magic Staff tightly.
David and Reina also moved to the other two corners of the altar, and the three began to converge their Magic Power simultaneously.
"Ready... start!" David shouted softly.
With his words, the three released a powerful surge of Magic Power, which transformed into three dazzling beams of light, striking the four corners of the altar directly.
The runes on the altar began to flicker violently, and the ice-blue crystal started trembling intensely.
"Hold on!" David shouted, his forehead beading with sweat.
Amy and Reina gritted their teeth, their Magic Power flowing ceaselessly, trying to obliterate the altar’s runes completely.
However, just as the runes were about to collapse, the ice-blue crystal at the altar’s center suddenly burst forth with a powerful Ice Power, instantly freezing their attacks.
"Not good!" David’s face changed as he hurriedly shouted, "Retreat quickly!"
But the Ice Power moved too swiftly; the three were encased in ice before they could escape.
At the moment they were about to be completely frozen, a powerful Power of Bloodline surged from within David.
The Power of Bloodline erupted into a searing Flame, melting the surrounding ice in an instant.
"David!" Amy and Reina exclaimed, their eyes filled with surprise and joy.
A determined glint shone in David’s eyes: "We can’t give up!"
He gathered Magic Power once more, fusing the Power of Bloodline with his Magic Power, transforming it into a blazing Flame, striking the ice-blue crystal at the altar’s center directly.
"Boom!"
With a thunderous crash, the ice-blue crystal shattered completely, and the runes on the altar collapsed accordingly.
The Ice Power gradually dissipated, and the temperature around them began to rise.
"We... succeeded." Amy exhaled a long breath, a satisfied yet weary smile on her face.
Reina also nodded, a touch of relief in her eyes: "The cold wave has finally been stopped."
David’s eyes carried a hint of complexity: "Though the power of the Ice World has been temporarily halted, its threat has not entirely disappeared. We must find a complete solution swiftly."
Amy and Reina nodded, a glimmer of resolve in their eyes.
"No matter what, we’ll face it together with you," Amy whispered.
David smiled faintly, warmth in his eyes: "Alright, we’ll work together."
He stood before the ruins of the Frost Altar, his gaze deep as it stretched into the distance.
Though the cold wave had been temporarily halted, he knew this was merely a fleeting victory.
The power of the Ice World still stirred restlessly, likely to descend upon the Bright Continent once more.
"We must find a thorough solution," David murmured, a note of determination in his voice.
Amy and Reina exchanged a glance, a hint of concern in their eyes.
"You mean... entering the Ice World?" Amy asked, her voice laced with hesitation.
David nodded, his gaze unwavering: "Only by entering the Ice World and finding the source of the Ice Power can we fully resolve this issue."
"But the Ice World is filled with unknown dangers," Reina frowned, "We don’t even know its rules and power system."
"I know it’s dangerous," David said softly, "but it’s our only choice. If the power of the Ice World descends again, the Bright Continent won’t withstand it."
Amy and Reina were silent for a moment, then nodded simultaneously.
In the days to follow, David, Amy, and Reina began preparing for their venture into the Ice World.
They researched countless ancient texts, trying to find clues about the Ice World.
However, the Ice World was an extremely mysterious existence, with minimal records about it.
"According to these ancient texts, the Ice World is a realm entirely composed of Frost Power," David murmured, "The creatures and power systems there are completely different from ours."
"How do we enter it then?" Amy asked.
David pondered for a moment before replying softly, "The Ice World’s power once descended through the Frost Altar to the Bright Continent. If we can find the altar’s lingering power, we may open a portal to the Ice World."
"But we already destroyed the altar," Reina frowned.
David nodded, "While the altar is destroyed, its power hasn’t fully dissipated. We might be able to harness the residual power to open a temporary portal."
"Let’s take action now," Amy said, her grip on her Magic Staff firm, a glimmer of determination in her eyes.
David and Reina nodded as well, and the three returned to the ruins of the Frost Altar.
Standing in the altar’s center, his hands rose slowly, the Power of Bloodline within him merging with Magic Power, transforming into a blazing Flame.
The Flame swirled in the air, gradually forming into a complex rune.
"Ready... start!" David shouted softly.
As his voice faded, the rune descended slowly, fusing with the residual power of the altar.
A frigid energy began to permeate the air, and the temperature around them plummeted sharply.
"The portal is forming!" Amy exclaimed, a hint of tension in her eyes.
A hint of solemnity flashed in David’s eyes: "The portal is unstable, I must enter quickly. I’ll leave things here to you."
Amy and Reina nodded seriously, watching as David stepped into the portal.
As he entered the portal, David felt a piercing cold engulf him.
