Chapter 1207, The Might of a Dragon King

In an instant, the two Dragon Carcasses, which had been thrashing and snarling a heartbeat before, went rigid.

Before Tao Xiaoman and the others had even fully registered what had happened, a series of cracks spread across the surfaces of both Dragon Carcasses, and their bodies began to crumble. They broke apart into fragments that tumbled to the ground, only to dissolve once more into rotten mud, sinking back into the earth, as though they had never existed at all.

This display left every person present thoroughly stunned.

The Two Headed Dragon and the Flame Dragon were perhaps the most dumbfounded of all, and that was saying something.

Although they had spent all this time following the Life Dragon King, she was, after all, not a Giant Dragon made for combat. Thus, they had never truly known what a Combat Specialised Dragon King was capable of.

Even so, they had heard the Life Dragon King warn them, on more than one occasion and over many years, that in the Dragon Domain, one must absolutely never provoke a Dragon King.

To do so was to invite catastrophic disaster upon the Valley of Life, or worse, annihilation.

That conviction had taken root firmly in their minds.

And alongside it, they had spent many a quiet moment imagining just how terrifying an existence capable of obliterating the Valley of Life must truly be.

However, many times they had run those imaginings through their heads, not once had they conceived of something this terrifying. This was something that far exceeded anything they had pictured.

These Dragon Carcasses were not weak. Both the Two Headed Dragon and the Flame Dragon were capable of dealing with them without much difficulty.

But watching the Bronze Dragon King and the Shadow Dragon King dispatch one or two Dragon Carcasses apiece in a single, perfectly casual strike, as though the whole thing were mildly beneath their notice, was something that still surpassed their wildest imaginations.

There was no room for doubt. If it ever came to a genuine confrontation, the Bronze Dragon King and the Shadow Dragon King could kill them both in under a minute.

This gulf in strength left the two Giant Dragons feeling deeply humbled, and simultaneously very, very uneasy.

In their years within the Dragon Domain, they had passed through a Dragon King’s territory on more than one occasion.

Dragon Kings’ territories were extraordinarily rich in resources. They had, more than once, felt the stirring of a thought, that they might slip inside, help themselves to a few things, and quietly leave without anyone being the wiser.

Surely the Dragon King within would not trouble itself over something so minor.

But because of the Life Dragon King’s repeated and emphatic warnings, every time that thought arose, they had smothered it and stepped back from the boundary without daring to set so much as a claw inside.

Looking back on it now, that had been, without question, one of the wisest decisions they had ever made.

Had they stepped foot inside a Dragon King’s territory, how in the world would they have lived long enough to see with their own eyes just how terrifying a Dragon King could truly be?

*Clap clap clap…*

The sound of applause rang out.

Lu Fan pressed his palms together with genuine appreciation. “So that is the power of a Dragon King. Amazing. Both of you are far stronger than I had imagined.”

The Shadow Dragon King slid a glance in Lu Fan’s direction, looking rather smugly pleased with himself.

The Bronze Dragon King was more gracious about it, smiling as she replied, “We are both Adult Dragon Kings, and were Combat Specialised Dragons at that. Being this strong is only to be expected. Honestly, if I had not come to know of the Ancient Gods, I would always have assumed that I was the strongest being in existence, and that anything calling itself a Divine Being was nothing but empty clouds, something I could flatten with a single swat of my palm.”

At that, the Shadow Dragon King released a cold snort and added, “Naturally. Giant Dragons are the most powerful existences in this world. Dragon Kings are the sovereigns of the Giant Dragons. Once fully grown, we are, by nature, beings that stand above the billions upon billions of beings in this world. Dragon Kings such as ourselves need not fight a single battle to the death in our entire lives. Simply growing normally to adulthood makes us the strongest things in existence.”

“Should one choose to pursue dedicated combat training as well, the result would be something without equal. That is what talent means. That is the potential the Heavens bestow upon us. Whatever Level those so-called Divine Beings reach through decades of bitter cultivation and selection process of ten thousand to one, that is merely where our starting point lies.”

It was an extraordinarily self-satisfied way of putting things. And yet, was it not also the simple truth?

No one understood better than Lu Fan just how formidable Giant Dragons truly were.

When Xiao Ye had hatched from her egg, barely out of the shell, she had been capable of killing Monsters many Levels above herself in a single strike.

That was Racial talent. There was simply no substitute for it.

Other Divine Beings, or Players for that matter, might spend an entire lifetime grinding Levels, reaching the very highest height achievable, and then, from all those people, one might select one in ten thousand, and that one would perhaps, barely, be able to exchange a few simple blows with an adult Giant Dragon.

As for a Dragon King-level existence…

Truthfully speaking, they were beings that no ordinary living creature or Player could match. Between the two lay a gulf as vast as heaven and earth, not the sort of thing that could simply be crossed.

Though to say it absolutely could not be crossed was perhaps not entirely accurate either.

Lu Fan himself, for instance, had Changed Profession to Dragon Tamer, and by drawing upon the strength of Giant Dragons, ought to be able to hold his own against them.

Alternatively, by attaining a Divine Seat and wielding the Power of Principle that transcended the current era, one might take a different path entirely and overcome a Giant Dragon that way.

Short of those approaches, however, who could possibly stand against a Giant Dragon?

“Having the two of you along, I feel genuinely confident about hunting down the Desolate Ancient God this time.” Lu Fan offered a quiet smile. “I truly cannot imagine, if we do manage to locate the Desolate Ancient God’s True Body, just what it could possibly do to contend with us.”

*Hmph!* The Bronze Dragon King let out a cold snort of her own, cracking her knuckles with a series of sharp snapping sounds. “Even thinking about it is exciting.”

“This Desolate Ancient God, all it ever does is send Dragon Carcasses to fight us.”

“Every single time, I can blow them apart with one punch. But I know perfectly well that knocking over these Dragon Carcasses is not actually solving the problem.”

“The mastermind behind all this rotten mud is probably watching from somewhere while I fight those Dragon Carcasses and having a good laugh at our expense.”

“Now that is going to change. Since you all are able to lead me directly to the Desolate Ancient God, this strength of mine can finally go somewhere useful.”

“This time, I am going to give it every punch that should have landed on it from the very beginning. Let us see where it tries to hide then.”

Lu Fan could only laugh helplessly, and thinking back on that punch from a moment ago, he felt a distinct pang of sympathy for the Desolate Ancient God.

A punch like that, landing on the Desolate Ancient God, would have sent that one shaking as well.

The Desolate Ancient God really had brought this upon itself. Of all the Maps in the world to encroach upon, it had to choose the Dragon Domain.

Now it has managed to draw the attention of two Dragon Kings. If they did track it down, the outcome was going to be…

Lu Fan was still turning this over in his mind when the rotten mud ahead stirred once more, and three more Dragon Carcasses began to rise.

The Bronze Dragon King glanced toward the Two Headed Dragon, as though silently enquiring whether these three Dragon Carcasses ought to be handed over to the Two Headed Dragon and the Flame Dragon to deal with.
