Chapter 76 – Disclosing the Secret of A Trick

To help organize things, let’s start with the concept of sub-skills.

Some skills have a single function, while others have multiple functions.

For example, Plunder has the single function of stealing items from enemies while physically attacking them.

Ninjutsu, on the other hand, has a variety of functions, such as Ice Floor, Purple Lightning Ground Running, and Kunai Throwing.

This is easily understood by looking at the skill descriptions.

Yes… how about this one?

Skill──────────────────

Interference Magic 1

A system of magic that inflicts various state abnormalities on the target.

────────────────────

Skills that contain several “child” skills are often expressed as “XX system” in this way.

In Hobijinkai Sumo, there are also multiple skills within a single skill, such as Harite, Shiko, and Shiranui no Kata.

These skills that are children of the parent skills, or intra-skill skills, are called sub-skills.

Some of them are more famous than their parent skills.

It is like Yokohama being more popular than Kanagawa or Nagoya being more popular than Aichi for those who live far away.

As can be seen from the fact that each of these skills has a deliberate name, the sub-skills are often the core elements of the parent skill.

For example, Slash is a sub-skill of Sword Technique.

Even though it is a simple Slash, which is not really a technique, it is a sub-skill that serves as the axis of Sword Technique combat.

Since it has no quirks, it is versatile, easy to use, and can deal a fair amount of damage.

It is also capable of making an opponent bow down if it hits well.

Sword Technique is the main skill of the explorer, focusing on how to hit the opponent with a Slash and how to hit the opponent after they stagger after hitting the target.

The most efficient of the Sword Technique sub-skills is the Slash, so the usual way of fighting is to follow up a Slash with another Slash.

However, this Slash is only slightly above average in terms of attack power compared to the other weapon sub-skills.

If you increase your Sword Technique level to 4 or 5, you should be able to learn another sub-skill, but this information is only available to high-level explorers and high-level guilds and is not available on wikis and the like.

As a result, most explorers who primarily use the Sword Technique tend to use Slash to create an opening and then Slash again, which is a rather powerful way to fight.

However, once they have created an opening with a Slash, wouldn’t it be better to use an attack with more power than a Sword Technique?

This is a natural question to ask.

There have been many other explorers besides me who have asked this question.

The answer they came up with was, “In the gap created by the Slash, another explorer’s more powerful attack should be timed to strike at the right moment.”

Of course, timing is critical.

Only a very well-coordinated party would be able to pull it off on a practical level.

But… What would I do?

For better or worse, I’m fighting alone.

I don’t have to coordinate my timing with my allies.

The enemy is right in front of me, exposed by the Slash, and it’s easier to slam it with another skill than it would be to coordinate with a party.

After some trial and error, I settled on the Two-Handed Sword skill.

The Two-Handed Sword has a sub-skill called Full Force Slash that can do a lot of damage.

The problem is that the Sword Technique and the Two-Handed Sword are different weapons.

While the Sword Technique is applicable to swords in general, the Two-Handed Sword, as the name implies, is only applicable to larger swords that require two hands to hold the hilt.

However, it is not the case that the applicable weapons for Sword Technique are completely different from those for Two-Handed Swords.

Rather, they overlap to a reasonable degree.

If a sword has a long blade and can be held with both hands, it can be used with Two-Handed Swords.

Conversely, any weapon that can be used with Two-Handed Swords is basically within the scope of the Sword Technique.

However, since the Sword Technique is a skill designed for light to medium swords, its effect will be reduced if a heavy sword is equipped.

The same is true when using Two-Handed Swords with a light sword.

So, I came up with the idea of holding a medium-weight broadsword with one hand to use the Sword Technique and then holding the hilt with both hands only when I want to use Two-Handed Sword sub-skills.

This way, I could use the Sword Technique, which allows me to move relatively easily, and use the powerful attacks of the Two-Handed Sword only when the occasion calls for it.

Two-Handed Sword is powerful but slow to return attacks and not very good at blocking enemy attacks.

In a normal explorer party, the attacker is likely to use the attacker’s Two-Handed Sword after placing a shield in the middle of the party.

Now, up to this point, I have explained how to use different skills with overlapping areas of coverage while equipping the same Sword.

As some of you may remember, I also used the technique of switching weapons in the middle of the fight and hitting different types of weapon skills one after the other.

I couldn’t switch weapons and hit with a series of skills using the backhand method of grabbing the handle with both hands.

Then how did I do it? …It’s a simple trick.

The trick was to use the Item Box skill to switch weapons quickly.

This may sound simple, but there is a slight delay when the Item Box is activated.

It also takes a little time to find and retrieve the items in the crate.

I used to have to find a gap in my standing to make up the time, but I think there is still room for improvement in this area.

When the battle gets to a higher level than it is now, that small amount of time could be a fatal gap.

Anyway, with this hand, I used the Archery skill to check the enemy at long range, the Spear Barrage, which is a sub-skill of the Spearmanship skill, to block the enemy’s weapon at medium range, the Slash skill of the Sword Technique to make the enemy flinch when it showed an opening, and the Full Force Slash skill of the Two-Handed Sword with both hands to re-grip the hilt with both hands. That’s the combination I decided to use.

I am proud to say that it was a beautifully executed combo.

After that, I kicked the enemy’s body before he disappeared, and the Knife Throw and Spear Throw need to be explained separately.

Kicking away the enemy’s body with Martial Arts.

This alone makes it sound like Martial Arts is the only skill being used, but in fact, the Throw skill is also being used.

The Throw does not necessarily require you to throw with your arms as long as you fulfill the part of throwing an object with your own strength.

If it were a monster that had this skill, there would be many variations, such as throwing with the legs, throwing with the horns, throwing with a special mechanical device, and so on.

Even kicking things would be considered a Throw.

Damage calculations are not always accurate, but according to the Appraisal, this alone nearly doubled the damage.

I moved behind the Karakuri Soldier, who had stopped moving due to the body (wreckage) of its kicked comrade, and this time, I destroyed the Karakuri Soldier’s heart with a strike consisting of overlapping Dagger Technique and Assassination Technique.

At this point, Backstab and Fatal Crit would have worked as well, but I’m not sure if I killed it with damage or an Instant Death effect. If it was a living thing, I could tell by the way it died, but in the case of the Karakuri Soldier, I’m not sure.

I threw the knife at the Karakuri Soldier, who was at a distance from me.

In addition to Throw, the skills used in this case were Knife Throw, which is a knife-only skill; Bull’s Eye, which applies to ranged attacks in general (a support skill that allows the user to aim at a single point); and Kunai Throw, which is a sub-skill of Ninjutsu.

The Kunai Throw does not require a special kunai, but a small knife will do.

The synergy of the skills was so great that it was even used to stand on a shield held up by a Karakuri Soldier and create a radial crack.

Then I took out the Karakuri Lance I got from a previous drop, and in addition to Throw and Bull’s Eye, I threw Spear Throw and Weapon Throw on top of it.

Spear Throw is a spear-specific throwing skill.

Weapon Throw is a skill that can throw any weapon, but instead of doing a lot of damage, the weapon thrown is broken.

Of all the skills that were activated simultaneously, Weapon Throw was probably the most powerful.

The Karakuri Lance released by Weapon Throw, amplified by other skills, pierced the Karakuri Soldier’s chest with a single strike.

If I hadn’t used Knockout, it would have died instantly.

So, this is the fighting style I have developed.

I study a variety of weapon skills, combine their strengths, and follow their weaknesses with other weapons.

It’s a good skill combination that takes full advantage of the abundance of skills available to me.

Considering that the level of each skill is still low, the firepower will increase even more in the future.

However, if the skill level is increased too quickly, it is easy to lose track of the power of each skill and its sub-skills.

I will increase the skill level sequentially as I progress through the Kururi Castle dungeon once I feel that I have mastered the combo flow to some extent.

Also, if I raise all the skill levels at once, I might end up getting ability bonuses to my stats, which would mean that no matter what I did, the Karakuri Soldiers would be defeated with a single blow.

Most weapon skills have an attack power bonus.

Even if a skill has an acquired SP of 100, the required SP increases from 100-400-1600-6400-25600.

Even if several weapon skills reach level 3, the attack power parameter will increase by thousands.

This would be excessive against the monsters in this dungeon.

It would also be a waste not to increase skills that can be increased forever.

If this skill combination is useful, I will try to fight the bosses in the Kururi Castle dungeon by using Summon Secret Monster to level up the bosses and give them a certain level of stats.

Before that boss battle, I’m planning to increase the skills that need to be increased.

On the other hand, I would like to keep the skill level at 2 or 3 on the road and proceed in such a way that I can properly compete with the monsters on the road.

If there is enough SP, I would like to increase Gain SP Up and Trump Card, but I would also like to train defensive skills such as Magic Barrier, Magic Cancel, and Solid Barrier.

Also, if I increase Attack Power Enhancement, Agility Enhancement, and Luck Enhancement all the way up, there is a possibility that the ability value enhancement skills will become comps, and unknown skills may be obtained under special conditions.

Depending on the skills obtained there, the training policy for other skills may change.

“Hmm… I shouldn’t hesitate.”

However, there is no need to rush to become stronger.

Clovis approaches Haruka-san.

Seiji Tozaki says he is looking for the Black Tengu.

God said the dungeon has been unsettled lately.

There is no reason to let my guard down, but it is unlikely to come under fire anytime soon.

Haruka-san is being protected by the A-class guild Yakukokaku, which is based at Tengumine Shrine.

Seiji Tozaki says he is looking for the Black Tengu, but at the moment, he is a councilman, not a member of the police or the Explorers’ Association.

The explorer guild Rakan, which was supposed to be his limb, is in shambles, and I don’t think it functions properly.

Even if there were a flood in the dungeon, the Explorers’ Association would be the first to act.

Of course, if they can’t, they’ll probably send a request to me through the Paladin Knights, but in that situation, I’m just one of them.

I’m not going to suddenly get into a situation like the last Double Flood――

――I was still thinking that at the time.
