Zombie Apocalypse: I Have Safe Zone Superpower

Chapter 388: 1 Million Kbs

Chapter 388: Chapter 388: 1 Million Kbs

If Ivy discovered their true identity at this moment, there was a high chance they would never be allowed to enter the base at all.

Sure enough, Ivy walked up to them.

Her footsteps were light, but every step felt like a hammer striking Moona’s chest.

The air around Ivy felt cool and steady, sharply contrasting the chaos pounding inside Moona and Maxi’s hearts.

They didn’t know if it was their illusion, but the coolness spread even to them, and they felt much better.

Maxi even suspected that Ivy had an ice superpower.

"Both of you, follow me," Ivy spoke calmly. "We’ll talk somewhere private."

Moona’s fingers trembled.

’This is it...’

’We’re exposed.’

Two hours earlier, Ivy had been in her bedroom, handling routine matters, when she suddenly felt a strange tug in her chest.

The sensation was sharp and unmistakable. In the next second, she stepped into her temporal storage.

Inside, the familiar vast space greeted her.

She waited quietly, already accustomed to how supplies manifested themselves. As expected, food began to fall from above.

This time, packets of instant noodles poured down like rain.

The moment Ivy saw them, a smile curved on her lips.

There were countless flavors, Italian herbs, spicy Chinese blends, seafood, and plain broth. She did not even need to move; the noodles kept falling until the space was nearly filled.

Once the drop ended, Ivy calmly multiplied them.

When she finished, she realized she had more than enough to sell to the citizens and still keep a generous supply for herself.

Her heart lifted with relief.

’This will ease the pressure,’ she thought. ’People won’t suffer as much.’

She was about to leave the temporal storage when a familiar, calm mechanical voice echoed through the space.

[Two anomalies have been detected within the base perimeter. Do you wish to process them?]

Ivy froze.

"What anomalies?"

[Two female entities infected with the Skyli Virus have entered the base,] the voice replied. [Options available: expel, eliminate, or process for one million KBs.]

Ivy’s pupils shrank.

’One million KBs?’

She had never received such a notification before. Zombies usually triggered warnings about contamination. Mutated animals were worth no more than ten or twenty KBs at best.

But one million KBs?

Her expression darkened.

’Half-zombies...’

In her previous life, half-zombies had only begun appearing after five years. Now, it had only been seven months.

Suppressing the urge to curse her luck, Ivy immediately exited the temporal storage and headed straight for the entrance.

At this point, if an extraordinarily evolved creature suddenly popped up in her base, she wouldn’t be surprised at all!

The moment she arrived, her heart nearly leapt out of her throat.

Two women stood there, their features ravaged as if scorched by extreme heat.

To others, they looked like survivors on the brink of collapse. To Ivy, however, the truth was painfully clear.

They were half-zombies.

How can she miss the obvious signs?

She was blind in her previous life, but she often heard the symptoms and had a picture of it in her mind.

’How did my investigation team miss this? This is a serious flaw.’

She took a deep breath and raised her hand, signaling for the guards to halt the process.

Moona and Maxi looked at her in terror, their fear raw and unmistakable.

Ivy frowned slightly. ’That’s strange...’

Half-zombies, from everything she knew, were supposed to be cunning, violent, and driven by hatred toward humanity.

Yet these two looked terrified.

Nervous. Almost... human.

Nothing like the cunning creatures others had talked about. Did she miss out something in her previous life?

She decided not to act rashly.

Instead, Ivy turned to her staff.

"Move them to the private room near the entrance."

The assistants stiffened immediately. Their gazes sharpened, scrutinizing Moona and Maxi as if trying to peel them apart layer by layer.

If the representative of the base ordered such a command, then there were high chances that something was wrong with this pair of sisters.

Moona and Maxi swallowed hard but followed without resistance.

They were worried that Ivy would expose their identity or use her superpowers.

The room Ivy chose was small and isolated, originally built for confidential discussions with staff.

Once inside, Ivy positioned herself at a distance and studied them carefully.

"I need to conduct a security verification," Ivy said evenly. "For that, I need your cooperation."

She paused.

"You may handcuff yourselves, or I’ll have my guards do it."

Moona and Maxi’s faces drained of color.

Fear surged violently.

’Are we going to be experimented on?’

Before panic could spiral out of control, Ivy’s tone softened slightly.

"I know what you are," she continued. "But I want to see whether you’re willing to communicate. If not, I’ll have no choice but to expel you."

Those words settled like a lifeline.

Moona and Maxi exchanged a glance.

At least... she wasn’t planning to dissect them.

Moona spoke first, her voice trembling.

"We can’t wear cuffs," she said softly. "But we’ll cooperate."

Maxi nodded quickly.

"We only ask for one thing," she added. "Please don’t put us in danger. For your safety, we won’t move from our seats."

Ivy listened silently.

’Words mean nothing in the apocalypse,’ she thought coldly.

Still, she decided to add another layer of protection.

Without another word, she left the room.

Moona turned to Maxi, her voice barely above a whisper.

"What’s happening...? Are we going to be killed?"

Maxi shook her head slowly.

"No," she replied. "She only cares about the base’s safety. If she wanted us dead, she would’ve exposed us immediately."

Moona clenched her fists.

"I’m scared. I really want to run."

Maxi squeezed her hand.

"If she wanted to harm us, we wouldn’t be sitting here. She called us privately. That means she wants negotiation."

Hope flickered weakly in Moona’s chest.

She nodded.

Just then, the door opened.

Ivy stepped back in, this time wearing a protective suit. Her presence felt heavier, more authoritative, as her sharp gaze settled on Moona and Maxi.

The room fell into tense silence.
