Zombie Apocalypse: I Have Safe Zone Superpower

Chapter 467: Exposed Arnold-2

Chapter 467: Chapter 467: Exposed Arnold-2

"As long as you act like the victim he wants you to be," Ivy replied calmly, "he’ll show his true colors."

The next day, Martha did exactly as Ivy instructed.

And she saw it.

The pattern. Arnold always painted her as the victim, always pushed her toward leaving or causing trouble.

Never once did he try to confront Ivy. Never once did he show real concern. Whenever she said that he needed to confront Ivy... he only avoided, as if he were afraid.

’So that’s it,’ she thought coldly. ’Ivy was right all along.’

Elsewhere, Arnold clenched his purse tightly. Since Martha wasn’t listening to his words anymore, it was time.

Plan B.

With that thought lingering heavily in his mind, Arnold soon arrived outside Ivy’s building, his breathing uneven, palms damp with sweat.

His eyes darted around nervously, as if the concrete walls themselves were judging him.

When Ivy stepped out of the building, the sunlight catching briefly in her sharp eyes, she immediately noticed Arnold standing there.

Her brows lifted slightly. "What are you doing here?"

The moment Arnold saw her, he dropped to his knees with a dull thud, dust puffing up around him.

"I need justice. I truly need justice. If you refuse to give it to me, then I have no choice but to hang myself and die."

Ivy stared at him for a long second, then crossed her arms slowly, her gaze cool and unreadable.

"What century do you think we’re living in?"

Arnold froze, the words sinking in slowly.

She continued, her voice edged with disbelief.

"This is the twenty-first century. We’re surrounded by zombies, civilization is barely holding together, and you’re pulling tactics like this to guilt me. Don’t you feel even a little ashamed?"

A cold realization crept into Arnold’s chest. ’This isn’t working.’

He tried to push harder, drawing on his influence, forcing it outward, but the power slipped uselessly into nothing.

It didn’t even graze Ivy. He had noticed it before too... none of the Black Vulture spies could influence her at all. It was as if her mind was wrapped in iron, untouchable and immovable.

Ivy tilted her head slightly.

"If kneeling is your kink, feel free to enjoy it somewhere else. Just don’t do it in front of my house. It’s unlucky."

Heat rushed to Arnold’s face. He finally became aware of the murmurs around him.

A small crowd had gathered, their eyes sharp and curious, yet not a single one stepped forward to defend him.

Swallowing his embarrassment, he stood up and brushed the dust from his clothes.

"Martha has been working herself to the bone for you," he said tightly. "She’s so exhausted she’s almost thinking of ending her life."

Ivy arched an eyebrow.

"If that’s true, why didn’t you just come and tell me directly? Why all this drama? You knelt down like I stole one of your kidneys."

Arnold nearly choked, pointing at her instinctively before forcing himself to breathe. Suppressing the anger bubbling in his chest, he spoke carefully.

"I’m not here to argue. I want you to compensate Martha. Increase her salary."

Ivy nodded without hesitation. "That part, at least, makes sense. I’ll do it right away."

Arnold blinked, stunned. "You’re not going to haggle at all?"

She looked at him sharply. "Why would I? Aren’t you on Martha’s side? Or do you see her as your enemy?"

The words hit too close. Arnold covered his mouth quickly.

"I didn’t mean it like that. I spoke in the heat of the moment. Don’t take it to heart. Since you’re increasing her salary anyway, you might as well add one thousand kilograms of rice."

Ivy nodded again. "Fine."

Encouraged, Arnold clenched his fists. "And two hundred kilograms of meat."

She nodded once more.

A strange regret flickered through Arnold’s chest. ’If only I hadn’t thought of doing good.’

If only he hadn’t tried framing Martha this way, she wouldn’t have gained so much, and she wouldn’t have dared to show him an attitude.

His eyes narrowed. Changing tactics, he continued boldly.

"She also wants ten permanent houses, ten kilograms of caviar, and lobsters."

The list grew more ridiculous with each item, absurd even in a zombie apocalypse. Yet Ivy continued to nod calmly.

A spark of excitement ignited in Arnold’s eyes. ’Maybe she’s pretending to agree,’ he thought. ’She’ll refuse later and look generous in front of everyone.’

Just then, footsteps echoed sharply.

Martha appeared.

Her expression was cold as she looked straight at Arnold. "When did I ever tell you I wanted all that?"

The crowd stirred instantly. Whispers turned sharp. Greedy. Shameless. Ridiculous.

Some even sneered her name, judging her without hesitation. How could she ask for so much when the world was dying?

But then they heard her clearly. "I never asked for any of that."

The murmurs shifted. Faces softened. Pity replaced scorn. Now they saw it clearly... Martha had been unlucky enough to encounter a scammer trying to steal everything in her name.

Before anyone could react, Martha rushed forward and slapped Arnold hard, the sound echoing through the street.

Fury exploded in Arnold’s eyes. He raised his hand to strike back.

Ivy moved instantly.

She grabbed his wrist midair, her grip firm. Shock rippled through her when she realized she was stronger than him. He was a superhuman with enhanced strength and yet she had stopped him effortlessly.

Arnold froze.

Martha glared at him, her voice shaking with restrained rage.

"You were really going to hit me? After all this, when all I wanted was justice?"

Arnold stared back. "I was on your side. Why would you slap me?"

He pulled his hand from Ivy’s grip, suddenly aware of how reckless he had been.

"I was fighting for you. I was seeking justice for you."

Martha laughed bitterly.

"What kind of justice is this? I never demanded those things. You made that list yourself. You were using my name to squeeze things out of Ivy."

Then came Ivy.

"Since you were acting on your own and were only using Martha as a shield, I will kick you out of the base."
