Zombie Apocalypse: I Have Safe Zone Superpower

Chapter 477: Fever?

Chapter 477: Chapter 477: Fever?

With this half-antidote, they were already halfway to the solution.

Ember hesitated, her gaze shifting briefly as if weighing her words, then she spoke again, her voice lower.

"There’s another piece of news."

Silas lifted his eyes and motioned for her to continue.

"The members of the Ravencroft family is dead."

Silas frowned slightly.

Ember continued, "Just like every other day, they were beaten. But this time, it seems they lost their luck. Even though their injuries healed, all of them still died."

Silas nodded slowly. "I will tell everything to Ivy once she wakes up," he said, then paused, a thought crossing his mind.

"Burn them into ashes. I want to do something with what remains."

Ember understood immediately and nodded before leaving.

Silas turned back toward the bed.

Morning light had already begun to seep in through the curtains, soft and pale.

Ivy slept peacefully, her breathing even.

He leaned down and pressed a gentle kiss against her forehead.

’Life really is good,’ he thought. ’As long as I can stay by her side, I want nothing else.’

Far away from them, General Frank stood in line with Jade and his wife.

Frank repeatedly lowered his head, careful to hide his face, afraid someone might recognize him.

More than that, he feared Ivy would impose restrictions on him.

Honestly, he regretted making an enemy out of her.

Only now did he realize that controlling the military force was not something he could manage alone.

From the moment mutated flies began attacking the city, combined with the relentless extreme heat, humanity’s chances of survival had dropped close to zero.

He had heard how nearby bases had slowly emptied out, while the SiIvy Base continued to expand.

What he could not understand was why, even though his son could see the future, the SiIvy Base never appeared in those visions.

’Will it be annihilated?’ he wondered.

But if that were the case, how could it withstand such extreme heat when other bases were losing their citizens by the day?

In the end, he decided to join the SiIvy Base. The military, after all, was already collapsing.

After SiIvy Base’s last intervention, most civilians had left the military.

Only family members of soldiers remained, staying because their loved ones stayed. But when half the soldiers left, the military was practically hollow, empty as if it had never existed.

As Frank prepared to leave, his wife suggested, "We should go to the SiIvy Base."

He agreed. When he left, the remaining people left as well, throwing him dark, resentful glances.

The line was filled with former military citizens, and one by one, they began whispering.

"Under General Frank’s rule, we were blinded by greed."

"We almost went against the Black Front family."

"We shouldn’t have listened to his provocation."

Some spoke openly about how Frank had been playing dirty for years.

The murmurs grew louder, harsher, until someone muttered that people like General Frank deserved to be left behind in the very isolation he created.

As long as no one spoke to him directly, Frank planned to stay silent. He believed that silence would keep the peace.

That illusion was shattered when someone suddenly rushed forward and shouted,

"It’s because of you that we were held back! Otherwise, we’d already be inside the base!"

Others nodded, rage flashing in their eyes. A few even stepped toward Frank.

Frank panicked.

’I can handle ten at most,’ he calculated quickly. ’Any more than that... I’m finished’.

Just as fear tightened his chest, Jade, who had been silent all this time, stepped forward. His voice was calm as he looked at the man leading the crowd.

"Are you looking for your daughter?"

The leader froze, eyes narrowing sharply. "How do you know that?"

Jade smiled faintly. "I can divine. Your daughter is already inside SiIvy Base. Building twenty. Fifth floor."

The man stiffened, then clenched his fists before slowly relaxing. "If you’re telling the truth," he said hoarsely, "and I really find her there, I swear my loyalty to you."

Jade merely waved his hand, unconcerned.

His frail yet elegant appearance drew attention.

Some girls in line began whispering excitedly, calling him prince-like, while others sighed, wishing they were strong enough to have someone like him as a husband.

Jade ignored it all.

Aside from the vision he had just shared, there was another one haunting his mind.

He had finally found Layla. Now he knew her true name was Ivy.

Only after nearing the self-placed city did he realize that the pink-haired woman from his dreams was her.

He clenched his fist lightly. "We’re finally close," he murmured.

At that very moment, Ivy, sleeping peacefully on the bed, suddenly opened her eyes and sat upright.

A chill ran down her spine, goosebumps spreading across her skin.

She rubbed her arms, feeling strangely warm despite the shiver.

"...Did I catch a fever?" she murmured softly.

As she sat up straight, Ivy decided to take some fever medicine.

Her entire body felt unbearably heavy, as if lead had been poured into her limbs.

Just as that thought crossed her mind, Silas entered the room.

When Ivy saw him, she forced a weak smile. Silas, however, froze. The sight of her pale face and dull eyes startled him.

"What happened to you?" he blurted out. "You were perfectly fine just a moment ago."

’How did she change this fast?’

Ivy, unaware that Silas had only stepped away briefly, tilted her head slightly.

"I’m really craving soup dumplings," she murmured. "Can you make some for me?"

Silas snapped back to his senses and walked over. His palm pressed against her forehead, lingering there for a moment. His brows furrowed. "You have a fever. You need to rest."

Ivy pouted faintly. "But I really want your spicy soup dumpling soup."

Silas chuckled despite himself. "You can’t eat spicy food with a high fever," he replied gently.

"I’ll make porridge instead."

With that, he turned and left.

Watching his retreating figure, Ivy shook her head and slowly lay back down.
