Zombie Apocalypse: I Have Safe Zone Superpower

Chapter 480: Upgrade

Chapter 480: Chapter 480: Upgrade

That single moment had changed everything.

She had fallen straight into the hands of criminals and from there into the grasp of experimental researchers.

If not for that forced teleportation, her fate might have been entirely different.

’Someone moved me,’ she thought grimly. ’And it was too precise to be an accident.’

This time around, she wanted answers.

She needed to know who had thrown, or teleported, her away back then. And among everyone she knew, Grace stood out the most.

’After all,’ Ivy thought, her eyes darkening slightly, ’Grace possesses the power of teleportation.’

Martha looked at Ivy with obvious worry clouding her face. Her eyes lingered on Ivy’s frame a little too long before she finally spoke.

"You look like you’ve lost a lot of weight."

Ivy instinctively glanced down at herself, brushing her hands over her clothes as if checking.

"That’s not true," she replied calmly. "I’ve actually gained weight."

Even as she said it, a flicker of doubt crossed her mind.

’Have I?’ She thought about it for a moment before realization struck.

"Ah... it must be the clothes." The loose fabric did make her look thinner than she really was.

"I’ve gained three pounds," Ivy added, flashing a small smile as if to reassure her.

Martha returned a weak smile, though concern still lingered in her eyes.

From her perspective, Ivy still looked fragile, almost too light for someone carrying so much responsibility.

But compared to what she had feared earlier, Ivy did seem a little better. ’Maybe I’m just overthinking,’ Martha told herself, finally nodding.

Ivy stood up and headed back to her room.

Once inside, she closed the door and took a slow look around. The room was quiet, the air still. Even though she missed Silas, she knew that he had gone out because of base matters.

After all, though Silas took a resignation from his duty, he was protecting the base with his utmost sincerity since it belonged to Ivy.

Thinking about his promise of spending an entire week with her later on, Ivy felt her heart brimming with joy.

’This is perfect,’ she thought. ’I should cultivate.’

She sat down and began to cultivate, her breathing gradually steadying as energy flowed through her body.

Before long, she felt it, the familiar pressure, the invisible wall pressing against her power.

’A bottleneck,’ she thought calmly. ’I assumed it would take at least another month.’

But to her surprise, her energy surged faster than expected, rushing through her meridians like a raging tide. Her heart pounded as the pressure intensified, and then... something snapped.

She broke through.

Reaching Level 3, Ivy felt her power expand outward, warm and overwhelming, until her vision brightened slightly.

’Wow... this amazing,’ she thought, awe stirring in her chest. She was rapidly approaching the peak she had reached in her previous life.

This time, she had achieved her Safe Zone superpower’s Level 3 within just eight months of the apocalypse.

’At this rate,’ she calculated, ’I could reach Level 6 within a year.’

The thought made her smile.

Just as she began checking her surroundings, a mechanical voice echoed in her mind.

[Temporal storage update condition detected. Condition fulfilled. Would you like to upgrade?]

Ivy’s eyes widened. "Upgrade!"

[Beginning the upgrade, temporal storage will be inaccessible during the upgrade.]

Curiosity bubbled inside her. ’What kind of enhancement will it be this time?’

Suddenly, an intense itch spread across her palm. Ivy frowned, staring at her hand.

’Now?’ The sensation grew sharper, almost irritating.

’This is bad,’ she thought. ’If I’d known activation would begin immediately, I would’ve waited.’

There was no stopping it now.

She closed her eyes, trying to think of a location, but her mind remained blank. No images surfaced, no familiar places appeared. It felt as if the power itself was forcing her to decide.

’So it’s like this,’ she mused. ’Then I should give it a try, what if my instincts are indeed true?Then... I choose the location I am standing now...’

The moment that thought formed, a translucent timer appeared in midair.

When Ivy opened her eyes, the numbers were already counting down, forty minutes.

Her breath hitched in excitement.

She looked down and froze.

On the ground lay a massive spread of meat.

Thick, marbled steaks glistened under the light, fresh and tempting.

There was beef with rich red fibers, tender mutton, juicy lamb cuts, slabs of pork, strips of venison, and even neatly packed poultry.

The faint scent of raw meat filled the air, clean and mouthwatering.

Ivy didn’t hesitate.

She immediately began collecting everything, touching each piece and mentally commanding the temporal storage.

One by one, the meats vanished the moment her fingers brushed them.

The fact that she could still access the storage space during the upgrade filled her with relief.

She worked quickly, storing as much as she could, her movements efficient and precise.

By the time she finally stopped, the timer had already run out, and every remaining item on the floor disappeared.

She exhaled slowly.

’I can’t check the storage yet,’ she thought, mentally counting instead. When she finished estimating, her eyes widened in surprise. ’This is at least twice the harvest compared to the vegetables.’

It finally clicked.

’Because I’m only touching and storing,’ she realized. ’No extra movements.’

As long as she placed her hand on an object and thought of the temporal storage, it would be absorbed instantly.

In a single second, she could touch more than ten items, allowing her to store massive quantities at incredible speed.

Taking a deep breath, Ivy narrowed her eyes. ’Let’s test something else.’

She wanted to see how much her physical strength had improved.

Earlier, she hadn’t noticed much change and had assumed her body hadn’t progressed much. But now she understood... each rise in her superpower also enhanced her physical strength.

She exited her room and entered the training hall.

Bricks and gym equipment filled the space, items she had salvaged over time. Looking around, Ivy felt a surge of gratitude toward her past self. ’Exchanging food for resources was the right decision.’

She walked toward a pile of bricks without hesitation.
