Zombie Apocalypse: I Have Safe Zone Superpower

Chapter 499: Arrested

Chapter 499: Chapter 499: Arrested

Then she noticed a note on the table.

She hesitated. ’I don’t want to read it.’ Fear gnawed at her as dark possibilities crossed her mind.

’What if he wrote that he already took advantage of me... or took photos... or forced responsibility on me?’

Swallowing hard, she picked it up.

The note contained only a few simple lines.

The snacks were in the fridge if she felt hungry.

She should heat them before eating. She shouldn’t eat them cold, or her stomach would hurt.

That was all.

Angelina stood there silently, the note trembling in her hand.

Suddenly, the mission forced on her by her parents and Damien felt meaningless.

Sitting down slowly on the sofa, a suffocating feeling filled her chest.

After a long while, she stood up and left the house.

Once outside, she began to stroll aimlessly, her thoughts tangled and heavy, unsure of what she truly wanted anymore.

As she continued to stroll, something struck her so deeply that her steps gradually slowed.

The entire place felt like heaven.

Children were laughing and running freely, their voices ringing through the clean air.

Elderly people sat on benches, eyes half-closed as they enjoyed the gentle breeze brushing against their wrinkled faces.

Groups of aunties leaned together, gossiping animatedly, their laughter soft and familiar.

Some children were already on patrol duty, moving with a sense of responsibility far beyond their age, yet none of it felt forced.

It felt natural, like a living, breathing community.

For a moment, it was almost as if there were no apocalypse at all.

No scorching heat. No despair.

There was food, there was happiness, there was humanity.

The streets were clean, the living spaces were spacious, and no one was fighting over survival.

This place truly felt like a haven built for mankind.

Angelina’s chest tightened as another figure surfaced in her mind. Damien.

He wanted to take over everything. He craved power, and to gain it, he had consumed human meat without a second thought.

’He never cared about humans,’ she realized bitterly.

Compared to him, Ivy was completely different.

Ivy would protect humanity. Ivy would ensure people survived.

’Am I really doing the right thing?’ The question echoed relentlessly in her mind.

’If I tell Ivy the truth... could I change the outcome?’

The moment that thought took root, she clenched her fists tightly, her nails digging into her palms.

Without hesitation, she changed her direction and headed back toward Archie’s house.

’I’ll stay a few more days,’ she decided. ’I need time.’

Meanwhile, Ivy remained completely unaware of Angelina’s arrival.

She had deliberately ensured that her house gave off the impression that it has milky fragrance.

If only someone had used a proper perfume detector, they would have realized that the milky fragrance saturating the air was artificial.

Over the past few days, Raya and Vlad had been visiting Ivy and Silas’s house frequently.

Each time, Raya would discreetly sprinkle milky perfume around the rooms, hoping to trigger Ivy’s death wavelength.

The entity that had contacted Raya had been clear. "Fifteen days," it had said.

"Once triggered, Ivy’s death wavelength will either permanently damage the base or kill the people around her. Everything will be wiped."

Though it would be a massive loss, Raya had already planned the next step.

On the fourteenth day, she would evacuate the entire base under the excuse of an incoming zombie horde.

That way, no one would be harmed except Ivy.

Ivy would stay behind to protect the base, just as she always did.

As Raya glanced at her brother, she noticed how distant he had become.

She said nothing. ’Maybe he’s angry,’ she thought. ’Or maybe he already knows I’m about to do something wrong.’

Either way, there was no turning back now.

On the fourteenth day, she finally acted.

The milky particles had been dispersed consistently for fourteen days without issue.

With everything in place, Raya spread the news that a massive zombie horde was approaching the SiIvy Base.

At first, people dismissed it as a rumor.

But by nightfall, when zombies were spotted near the base perimeter leading toward the base, panic erupted.

Some people, overwhelmed by fear, chose to flee immediately.

Others gathered at the perimeter, weapons in hand, determined to fight.

Before long, the entire base was preparing for battle.

When General Frank learned that civilians were willingly preparing to fight, he was utterly stunned.

’When I was in command, no one wanted to risk their lives,’ he thought bitterly.

’And now these ungrateful people suddenly act loyal?’ His fists clenched tightly.

"Ungrateful," he muttered.

Just as he considered taking extreme measures, several officers arrived at his apartment.

When Frank saw them, his heart sank. ’Have they found out?’ But their words took him by surprise.

"General Frank," one officer said coldly, "you have been identified as the one who instigated others to take actions against General Dante."

Frank froze for a moment before masking his expression.

"I have no idea what you’re talking about."

The officers ignored his explanation and immediately escorted him away.

By the time Frank reacted, it was already too late. He was thrown into a prison cell.

Though worry flickered in his heart for his son outside, Frank remained confident.

’I’ll get out.’ But when he entered the cell, realization struck him hard.

So this was who they meant.

He had once suspected Dante of using Ivy to frame him. Who would have thought it was Nina instead?

She was locked in the same cell as him, bruised and battered, clearly beaten by female officers.

Frank glared at her. "I’ve seen stupid people," he scoffed, "but never someone as stupid as you."

Nina glared back, her voice shaking with rage.

"This is all your fault. If you hadn’t given me that stupid idea, I wouldn’t be here."

Frank ignored her completely, turning his attention outward, listening carefully for any useful information.

When he was summoned for investigation, an officer spoke neutrally.

"Did you instigate Nina to frame General Dante?"

Frank waved his hand dismissively. "It was just a prank. Who knew she’d take it this far?"
