Zombie Apocalypse: I Have Safe Zone Superpower

Chapter 501: Death

Chapter 501: Chapter 501: Death

Vlad looked at her calmly, his eyes steady and unreadable. After a moment of silence, he spoke quietly,

"Even if I don’t know how you did it, I know one thing. You are behind this."

Raya’s heart stopped.

"So I cannot stay behind and pretend nothing is happening," he continued. "To some extent, I share responsibility for this."

He turned and walked toward the door.

Raya’s eyes widened in disbelief.

When she had thought of harming Ivy and Silas, she had never imagined her own brother would willingly step onto the battlefield.

What made her even more surprised was... her brother knew... he knew that she was one who had brought this chaos.

’If he knows... then why didn’t he stop me... was he so disappointed that he didn’t even think of stopping me?’ Raya’s heart sank.

Everything was spiraling far beyond her control.

She rushed forward and grabbed his arm desperately. "You can’t leave!"

Genuine fear filled her eyes.

Vlad looked at his younger sister, seeing clearly the terror and regret she could no longer hide.

His voice remained calm, yet carried an unyielding firmness. "Move."

When Raya refused, he clenched his fists.

"I already know you’ve been meeting someone behind all of this. If you truly want this disaster to end, then go to that person and make them stop."

His gaze hardened. "Otherwise, I will either die or become a zombie, but I will not abandon this base."

With that, he pushed past her.

Raya tried to hold him back, but her strength was far weaker.

She stumbled and fell hard onto the ground, pain shooting through her limbs.

Tears streamed down her face as she shouted, "You don’t understand me at all!"

But Vlad never turned back.

He walked straight toward the battlefield and began fighting the zombies outside the base.

Raya felt as if her entire world was collapsing.

The thought of watching her own brother die, or worse, become a zombie, was unbearable.

She knew that even if Vlad fought with all his strength, he couldn’t end the war alone.

He would either fall or lose himself to the infection.

A sudden thought struck her mind.

’What’s the point of revenge if the people I love are destined to die?’

With that realization, she made her decision.

Leaving the base was difficult, but with the orb given to her by the superior being, she passed through the zombie-infested paths unnoticed.

The creatures ignored her presence entirely as she moved through the ruined landscape, the ground damp with decay and the air thick with the scent of death.

Soon, she reached the location.

It was hidden underground, near Ivy’s base.

The entrance was dark and suffocating, the silence inside heavy and unnatural.

The moment she entered, she saw the superior being, his entire form concealed beneath layers of cloth, only his eyes visible through the shadows.

Raya rushed toward him desperately. "I want to take back my decision," she pleaded, her voice trembling.

"I don’t want revenge anymore. Undo everything. Make the zombies leave the base."

As the words left her lips, the crushing weight inside her chest seemed to vanish.

She suddenly realized that what she had been chasing all this time was not revenge, but an obsession born from rejection.

Now that she had chosen to let go, she felt strangely light.

The cloaked figure, who had been waiting for her confirmation, slowly turned toward her.

Then he laughed.

The sound was cold and mocking, echoing eerily through the underground chamber.

His narrowed eyes fixed on her, the only visible part of his face. Raya shivered under his gaze.

A chilling voice emerged from beneath the cloth.

"When you were granted various superpowers, you were given a chance to withdraw. You chose not to. Instead, you accepted them eagerly."

His tone grew sharper. "And now you act innocent. Do you not find yourself disgusting?"

Raya clenched her fists.

"I am disgusting," she admitted, her voice shaking. "But I cannot become the reason innocent people die. I made a mistake, and I want to correct it."

Before she could say more, an invisible force suddenly wrapped around her neck.

Her breath was cut off instantly.

She clawed desperately at the unseen grip, her eyes widening in terror as she struggled to breathe.

The superior being spoke coldly,

"You have already made your choice. There is no turning back. What has begun cannot be undone."

His voice dripped with disdain.

"You should be grateful. You were allowed to act as a pawn in my game. If not for your usefulness, I would never have contacted someone as foolish as you."

Raya’s eyes widened in horror as she fought against the crushing pressure.

She had never imagined that one day she would die at the hands of such a monster.

As she felt the suffocating pressure tightening around her throat, her vision blurred, and countless faces flashed before her fading eyes.

She saw the worried gaze of her brother, the concerned expressions of those who had once cared for her, and the silent warmth of the people who had always stood beside her.

A painful realization struck her heart.

’Maybe I was wrong all along.’

She was never alone. She had never been unloved.

The betrayal she felt had not come from the world; it had come from her own misguided expectations.

Tears streamed down her cheeks as regret consumed her.

With great effort, she forced herself to look at the superior being who was calmly watching her suffocate.

His cold eyes showed no trace of mercy. ’I want to remember this face,’ she thought desperately. ’Even if I die, I want to remember this regret forever.’

Her consciousness began to slip away, darkness creeping in from the edges of her vision.

Suddenly, her body was violently released and slammed onto the ground.

Pain shot through her limbs as air rushed back into her lungs.

The next instant, a familiar voice rang out, filled with fury.

"Stop!"
