Zombie Apocalypse: I Have Safe Zone Superpower

Chapter 513: Grace’s Move

Chapter 513: Chapter 513: Grace’s Move

Hope had spread among the people like wildfire.

For the first time, many believed their lives were not doomed. As long as the antidote succeeded, their loved ones might return to normal.

Those words struck Greta deeply.

’Then my brother... he could come back too.’

The thought ignited something fierce inside her.

She suddenly felt an overwhelming urge to find him.

If she could locate him, she could request that he be secured somewhere safe, preserved until the antidote trials began.

He would be among the first to receive it.

The more she thought about it, the more this job felt like a blessing sent from above.

After finishing work, Greta headed toward the entrance, already planning where to begin her search.

As she walked through the crowded streets, she noticed a man.

Something about him was off.

His steps were stiff, unnatural, as if each movement required deliberate effort.

He looked around in confusion, his gaze unfocused, like someone trying to remember a forgotten world.

Compassion stirred within her before caution could stop it.

She approached slowly.

"Are you alright? Do you need help?"

The man turned toward her. His teeth showed in what might have been a smile, perfectly white and oddly pristine.

A sudden chill ran down Greta’s spine.

Danger.

Her instincts screamed it.

She took a step back.

The man tried to follow, but abruptly stopped as if blocked by an invisible barrier exactly two meters away.

Greta frowned, watching as his fingers twisted unnaturally, joints bending in a way that made her stomach churn.

Then, without another motion, he turned and walked away.

Greta stood there, unsettled.

’Why did he act like that?’

Yet she forced herself not to dwell on it. She had something far more important to do.

She needed to find her brother.

Meanwhile, Grace was facing a completely different crisis.

Her life felt like it had collapsed into chaos.

All she wanted now was either revenge or a way to revoke that unbearable command placed upon her.

She wandered around, searching for somewhere she could offer help, hoping to regain even a fragment of control over her situation.

But hardly anyone needed assistance.

And those who did required skills she simply did not possess.

Three days passed in frustration and fruitless waiting.

Finally, she came across a woman.

The woman stood at the side of the street, clutching a wrinkled banner so tightly that her knuckles had turned pale.

The cloth fluttered weakly in the dusty wind, the words painted in bold, uneven strokes:

Justice for My Son and My Husband.

The moment Grace saw it, her eyes lit up.

’Ah, this looks interesting. There must be something big behind this.’

She hurried over, curiosity burning stronger than caution.

"What happened here? Why are you protesting?"

The woman did not even glance at her.

Her gaze remained fixed ahead as she continued shouting hoarsely, her voice already cracked from hours of use.

"I demand justice! Ivy! Silas! The Nightbane family must give me an answer!"

Her voice trembled with both rage and exhaustion.

She had personally witnessed Jade being taken away.

She had also seen General Frank escorted under guard. To her, everything pointed to one conclusion.

The Nightbane family wanted to destroy her family.

Grace tilted her head, listening, and soon realized what the situation was.

A slow smile crept across her face.

’Perfect. This is exactly the kind of chaos I need.’

Without hesitation, she suddenly raised her own voice and began shouting alongside the woman.

"This is unfair! You cannot just take people away without giving an explanation!"

Her sudden participation startled passersby. Heads began to turn.

Curious murmurs rose in the air.

Within minutes, people who had ignored the lone woman for nearly ten hours started to gather.

Jade’s mother felt a surge of gratitude. Her tired eyes even grew moist.

’This young woman is helping me... after all this time, someone finally cares.’

From her perspective, Grace had helped her draw attention that she had desperately failed to gain alone.

Grace, meanwhile, felt a completely different emotion.

Excitement.

As more eyes focused on her, she felt an almost intoxicating thrill.

’Good. Let everyone look. Let Ivy’s reputation suffer. Even if I was kicked out, this will be worth it. And if I can blackmail Ivy with this mess... she will have to endure everything I went through.’

Lost in her own scheming fantasies, Grace barely noticed when two figures stepped out of the building.

Ivy and Silas.

Jade’s mother immediately pointed at them, her voice rising sharply.

"You should feel ashamed! You stole someone’s husband and son without reason!"

The crowd stirred.

However, instead of anger, confusion spread through their expressions.

Several people stared, not at Ivy, not at Silas, but at Grace.

One person muttered,

"Is that not the same woman who tried to scam Mia and Ava with that spoiled food incident?"

Another nodded.

"Yes, it is her."

Soon whispers turned into open condemnation.

"Shameless."

"She is here again to trick people."

"Does she think we are fools?"

The tone of the crowd shifted entirely.

What had begun as curiosity became hostility, and their harsh words rained down indiscriminately, not only on Grace, but on Jade’s mother as well.

Jade’s mother froze, stunned.

’This is not how this was supposed to go. I was supposed to gain sympathy.’

Instead, everything spiraled out of control.

A trace of resentment flickered in her eyes as she glanced at Grace.

’This woman is nothing but trouble.’

Still, she suppressed her frustration and forced herself to continue.

"I do not care about rumors. You must give me an explanation, or I will not leave!"

Ivy looked at her calmly, her expression unreadable.

"What kind of explanation does a woman need when her own husband plotted against the general of the base, and her own son attempted to harm the base’s representative?"

Silence fell.

The crowd stiffened, stunned by the revelation.

Ivy continued, her voice steady though faint exhaustion lingered beneath it, recounting how she had fallen gravely ill because of what had happened, how everything was connected to the incident.
