Zombie Apocalypse: I Have Safe Zone Superpower

Chapter 536: Clarity

Chapter 536: Chapter 536: Clarity

For a moment, she genuinely felt like hugging the invisible system.

The implications were enormous.

She could raise animals, cultivate crops, and create a stable food source unaffected by the chaotic climate outside.

Recently, her team had captured a batch of old-world chickens and several species of fish that had not mutated.

She had planned to breed them, but the unstable temperatures outside, swinging between scorching heat and freezing cold, made survival uncertain.

Even inside the base, the animals looked distressed.

She had feared they would die before reproduction was even possible.

Now, this space offered a perfect environment.

Excitement surged through her.

But just as she began planning layouts, the temporal storage issued a warning.

[Another superior being is currently moving near the perimeter of your base. He is accompanied by a young woman.]

Ivy frowned. "What kind of superior being?"

Then realization struck her.

’Damien.’

He must have been lingering nearby, probably trying to lure Angelina out. But who was the girl with him?

Angelina had never left the base after entering this time, so the chances of him speaking to her directly were almost zero.

As curiosity rose, the temporal storage spoke again.

"Do not underestimate that individual. Your current physical as a hybrid superior being state would not withstand confrontation."

Ivy frowned deeper. "I’m even human."

The system responded with something that sounded eerily like laughter.

"Impossible. You are a superior being. Otherwise, you would never have been able to access this temporal storage."

Ivy froze. "What do you mean?"

[This type of storage cannot be opened by ordinary humans. Even if they offered blood, it would remain sealed. Those with average aptitude cannot access it either. Only superior beings with exceptional genetic lineage, or those carrying royal blood, can activate such a space.]

The words left Ivy stunned.

She hesitated before asking quietly,

"Have you... lived where those superior beings come from? Somewhere beyond this planet?"

She already suspected that these beings originated from another world, perhaps a planet within some distant star system.

The temporal storage answered after a pause.

[I did exist in such a place. It was a world where kindness was nearly nonexistent.]

Its tone carried something heavy, almost weary.

[There, survival meant poisoning one another, plotting endlessly, and climbing over corpses just to advance. Schemes were not exceptions. They were the foundation of life.]

[There is no unity among them,] the temporal storage continued, its voice echoing across the bright artificial sky. [Yet they are still capable of making tremendous contributions to their civilization.]

A faint breeze moved through the grass at Ivy’s feet, warm and unsettling at the same time.

[What they fail to realize,] it went on, [is that those achievements were only possible because a few great minds temporarily set aside their differences and chose cooperation over pride.]

The air felt heavier as it spoke.

[But such alliances are fragile. They cannot survive every storm. Eventually, they crumble under the hollowness they hide within their own hearts.]

Ivy frowned slightly. ’Hollowness?’

"What do you mean?" she asked quietly.

The temporal storage paused, as if weighing its words carefully.

[I have accumulated sufficient energy,] it replied at last. [Instead of explaining further, it would be more beneficial if I assist you directly.]

Ivy blinked. "Assist me how?"

[Find a bed and lie down.]

She hesitated only for a second.

From the moment she had first encountered this space, she had sensed its nature.

It was strangely pure. It had never schemed against her, never manipulated her maliciously.

If anything, it always seemed to lean toward protecting her.

Trusting that instinct, she walked toward the simple white bed that had materialized earlier and lay down.

The sheets were cool against her skin, carrying the faint scent of sunlight.

[I will instill energy into you,] the temporal storage said gently. [Relax.]

Ivy closed her eyes and allowed her body to loosen.

Warmth spread from beneath her spine, seeping into her veins like liquid gold. Her consciousness blurred, and soon she drifted into sleep.

When she opened her eyes again, the world around her had changed.

She was standing inside a memory.

At first, she thought it was her previous life. She saw herself, thin, bruised, struggling under the oppression of the Ravencroft family.

She watched as they beat her repeatedly, their faces twisted with cruelty.

The sting of those memories returned vividly.

Then the scene shifted.

She saw herself discovering the ring.

Her breath caught.

Not far away, in a room only two doors down, Damien lay asleep.

Yet in his dream, his expression twisted with greed.

Ivy saw the vision inside his mind, he had dreamed that the ring would bring immense prosperity.

Without hesitation, he began pressuring his own mother, Seraphina.

"Get that ring from Ivy," he demanded coldly.

Seraphina complied.

But it was already too late.

Driven by curiosity, Ivy in that timeline had already worn the ring.

Watching the scene unfold from this detached perspective, Ivy felt her heartbeat thunder in her ears.

In her previous life, she had only admired the ring’s beauty. She had never noticed what surrounded it.

But now...

She saw it clearly.

A dark mistress-like shadow coiled around the ring, thick and viscous like black smoke given form.

The moment the ring slid onto her finger, the shadow seeped into her skin.

Ivy watched in horror as a silhouette appeared behind her past self, clinging to her like a parasite.

Even after the ring was removed, only half of the dark entity left. The remaining half stayed embedded within her.

It circled her constantly.

And then she saw it.

The dark presence was extracting something luminous from her body, thread by thread.

"That glowing substance is your luck," the temporal storage’s voice echoed softly.

Ivy’s entire body went cold.

"To be precise, it is not only your luck," it continued. "It is also your innate talent, the ability to locate and materialize supplies."

Ivy’s eyes widened in disbelief.

The scene continued, showing the entirety of her previous life until the moment of her death.
