Chapter 537: Planned Misfortune
Chapter 537: Chapter 537: Planned Misfortune
Every misfortune, every betrayal, every cruel twist of fate, none of it had been random.
Her power had existed all along.
But it had been manipulated, siphoned away, and disguised as "luck" while being continuously transferred to demons.
No wonder disaster followed her relentlessly.
Hatred flared inside her chest like wildfire.
’What kind of grudge did you hold against me?’ she thought fiercely. ’Why destroy me so thoroughly?’
Her breathing grew heavy as she relived the moment of her murder.
The temporal storage sighed.
[As I have told you, such beings do not care about emotions. They care only about themselves. They are selfish to the bone.]
Ivy clenched her fists so tightly that her nails dug into her palms.
"I will not take this lying down," she muttered through gritted teeth. "Since that entity dared to steal my luck and talent in my previous life, I will kill him with my own hands in this life."
Silence followed.
Then the temporal storage spoke again.
[You are no match for them.]
The words hit her like ice water.
[If the apocalypse continues for at least a decade,] it went on, [your cultivation may reach a level sufficient to confront even an average individual from their original planet.]
A bitter pause lingered in the air.
[This may surprise you, but the truth is harsh. You are insufficient. Your abilities are insufficient. Compared to those superior beings, you are no more than an ant.]
The words stung deeply, but they were not cruel. They were factual.
[If you wish to make a difference,] the temporal storage continued, [you must find a way to elevate your cultivation quickly. Otherwise, when that demonic entity returns, you will be eliminated before you even have the opportunity to defend yourself.]
Ivy’s jaw tightened.
"I understand," she murmured.
The temporal storage seemed to release a breath of relief.
After a moment, Ivy lifted her head slightly.
"Is there any other weakness of those superior beings," she asked carefully, "besides milk?"
The space fell silent for several long seconds.
Then, at last, the temporal storage replied.
[There is one.]
Ivy waited for the Temporal Storage to produce an answer. After a brief pause, the temporal storage responded without hesitation.
[Food.]
The single word echoed in the quiet space.
Ivy frowned, her brows knitting together. "How can it be food?" she demanded, folding her arms as a chill crawled along her spine. "You mean to tell me that’s the answer?"
[On that planet, no one eats food.]
The statement hung in the air like a crack in reality itself.
Ivy’s breath hitched. A strange unease tightened her chest. "Then what about energy?" she pressed urgently.
"How do they even function without food? A human would collapse within days. Even superior beings must have some medium to consume energy, right?"
The temporal storage’s mellow voice echoed in the empty space.
[Indeed. They require food to survive. However, they possess none. Only a few tons remain, preserved from their ancestors. At present, those superior beings are nearly out of food.]
Ivy’s eyes sparkled despite the gravity of the situation. A flicker of calculation ignited within her. ’So that’s the weakness...’
"There must be a reason," she insisted.
"Why can they consume the food left by previous generations, yet not the food currently available on their planet? Is something missing from the current produce? Can’t they just grow it on their own? Or maybe they are missing something?"
A low chuckle resonated through the void.
[You are very intelligent, Ivy. Yes, something is missing. But that is for you to uncover. I cannot reveal more. Excessive disclosure would cause you backlash.]
Ivy’s lips pressed into a thin line. The faint smell of damp soil from distant farmland drifted toward her senses, grounding her thoughts.
She did not continue questioning. Sometimes silence yielded more answers than impatience ever could.
’Rushing blindly will only trap me,’ she reminded herself.
After a while, she made a decision. The Temporal Storage had already informed her that vegetables could be cultivated here and animals raised within this dimension. If that was the case, she would use it properly.
"Where is the farming land?" she asked.
The temporal storage guided her forward.
The Storage had expanded significantly; now it required a full ten minutes of walking before she could reach the agricultural zone. Her boots pressed against the cool ground, each step echoing faintly.
She groaned dramatically.
"Don’t you have some kind of teleportation system? If I have to walk ten minutes every day just to reach the farming space, I might as well die from exhaustion."
[That feature will unlock in the next upgrade,] the temporal storage replied with a hint of smugness.
Ivy sighed, resisting the urge to argue. ’Completely useless upgrade pacing,’ she grumbled internally.
When she finally arrived, she halted in surprise.
The farmland within the Temporal Storage was unlike any field she had seen outside.
The soil was deep black, rich and velvety, almost glistening under the dim light. It carried a heavy, fertile scent, earthy and powerful.
"Is the soil infertile?" she asked skeptically. "Why is it black?"
[It is not black due to inefficiency. It is black because it is filled with power. Anything grown here will possess magical effects.]
Ivy’s eyes widened, gleaming with excitement.
"Magical effects? As in enhanced nutrition? Or fruits that act like potions? Proteins vital for the human body?"
[Not only that. Whoever consumes vegetables grown here will have greatly reduced risk of disease. The produce will be exceptional.]
"Why?" Ivy demanded, unable to mask her curiosity.
[Because this land has been nourished by kindness energy. The crops raised here will absorb that energy. They will grow with kindness as their foundation.]
For a moment, Ivy stood frozen, then laughter burst from her lips, light and incredulous.
[What is amusing?] the Storage inquired.
She wiped at the corner of her eye, still smiling. "You’re saying farmers on Earth also imprint energy onto their crops, aren’t you?"
