Chapter 623: Vow
Chapter 623: Chapter 623: Vow
’Is there still something inside her...?’
Her answer came the next day. A scream tore through the room.
Ember clutched her leg, her body trembling violently as if something inside were twisting, clawing, and tearing her apart.
When Ivy saw it, her heart shattered. Rage surged through her, hot and uncontrollable, while tears burned in her eyes.
’I did this... Because I rushed... because I wasn’t careful enough... if I catch the mastermind, I will make him pay!’
Whoever was behind this... They weren’t just attacking. They were playing with her. Torturing Ember... just to torment Ivy.
"Prepare for another surgery."
Her voice trembled, but her resolve didn’t. The doctor sighed, exhaustion evident in his eyes.
Soon, the clairvoyant arrived again. He scanned Ember’s body carefully. Then...he pointed.
"There’s another medium... a lump... in her leg."
The room went deathly silent.
"And if I’m not wrong... her entire leg will need to be amputated."
Those words shattered whatever hope remained. Everyone froze. Ember closed her eyes. Defeated.
Ivy stood there, her fists clenched so tightly her nails dug into her palms.
"No..."
Her voice broke. "No... this isn’t how it’s supposed to happen ..."
The next moment, she rushed forward, collapsing beside Ember as tears streamed uncontrollably down her face.
"I’m sorry... this is my fault... all of it ..."
Ember slowly shook her head, her lips forming a faint, fragile smile despite the pain.
"Ivy... you shouldn’t blame yourself ..."
As Ember spoke those words, her trembling fingers reached out, trying to hold Ivy’s hand, her touch weak and unsteady. But before she could even grip properly, her strength gave out.
Her eyes rolled back. Her body went limp. " Ivy..."
Her voice faded into nothingness as she lost consciousness.
For a split second, everything froze. Then chaos erupted.
"Doctor!"
"Call the doctor, quick!"
Footsteps echoed frantically, the sharp scent of antiseptic growing stronger as people rushed in every direction. The air turned suffocating, heavy with fear.
But Ivy...she didn’t move. She just stood there.
Her mind was blank, her ears ringing faintly as if the world had been pushed far away.
’... This shouldn’t have happened ...’
Time passed, minutes, maybe hours, until finally night fell. The night before Ember’s surgery.
Silently, like a shadow, Ivy slipped into Ember’s room. The dim light cast soft shadows across Ember’s pale face, making her look even more fragile.
Ivy stepped closer. Slowly...she reached out and held Ember’s hand. Cold. Too cold.
Her chest tightened. ’I have to end this... no matter what.’
She closed her eyes. And the moment darkness consumed her vision, the dream world formed.
A familiar cloaked figure stood before her, his presence suffocating, his aura twisted and unsettling.
He smiled. "Well... you’re finally here."
His voice echoed, smooth yet mocking. "Looks like you’ve realized... there’s no end to this."
Ivy’s fists clenched tightly. "I’m ready."
Her voice was steady, despite the storm raging inside her. "I’ll give you 500 milliliters of my blood."
She took a step forward, her gaze sharp.
"But in return... You swear on the God of superior beings that you will never harm Ember... or my family... from now on."
For a moment, silence ensued. Then, the cloaked figure chuckled.
A low, mocking laugh that sent chills crawling down her spine.
"You think you’re in a position to negotiate?"
His tone turned cold. "If I wanted... I could keep tormenting her endlessly."
Ivy didn’t flinch. "Then do it."
Her voice hardened. "But even if you continue... I won’t make any deal with you again."
Her eyes burned with quiet fury. "If Ember had already lost her leg. Your mercy won’t matter anymore."
She stepped closer. "And I will remember."
A pause. "I’ll hunt you down... to the end of the world."
Her voice dropped into something dark, something terrifyingly calm.
"And when I find you... I’ll cut off your limbs... and make sure you live forever."
The air grew heavy. For the first time, the cloaked figure fell silent.
Ivy exhaled slowly. "I’m offering you a chance."
Her tone softened slightly, but the firmness remained. "You have a plan, don’t you? Something bigger."
Her eyes narrowed. "So be smart... and take the deal."
A long pause followed. Then, the cloaked figure laughed again, though this time... It was different.
"You’re quite the manipulator."
Ivy said nothing. "Fine," he continued. "I’ll take the blood."
He tilted his head slightly.
"I would even knock Ember unconscious. Just feed her your blood... and everything will be solved."
Ivy frowned slightly. Something felt off. Her eyes narrowed, a flicker of suspicion crossing her face.
"What’s wrong?" the figure asked, his tone curious.
"I need assurance."
Her voice was calm but unyielding. "That you won’t harm my family... ever again."
The cloaked figure smirked. "I already said I wouldn’t. Swear it."
A pause. Then...
"I swear... I won’t harm Ember... or any member of your family if you give me your blood."
Ivy didn’t relax. Instead, she spoke again, her voice steady.
"I trust... that this moment is being witnessed."
For the first time, the cloaked figure’s expression shifted.
The next second, a faint green shimmer appeared beside Ivy, glowing softly in the darkness.
A presence. Cold. Authoritative. "I will bear witness."
The voice echoed, ancient and absolute.
"If the superior being known as Ferrero breaks this oath... I will personally eliminate him."
The air froze. Ferrero. The cloaked figure.
For a brief moment, his composure cracked. ’...Damn it. I thought I could fake it ...’
But now, there was no escape. Clenching his fists beneath his cloak, he forced a smile.
"Now that the oath is made... let’s begin."
Ivy nodded slowly. She closed her eyes again. And when she opened them...the dream shifted.
..............
Ferrero sat within a glowing circle, symbols flickering beneath him. The atmosphere pulsed with energy.
A container appeared in his hand. The next second...blood began to fill it. Dark red. Thick.
His smile widened. Meanwhile, another figure stood nearby. Jeff.
He watched the entire process, a grin spreading across his face.
"Well... now the real problem begins."
