Chapter 645: Testing
Chapter 645: Chapter 645: Testing
Sure enough, Ivy leaned forward slightly, her voice calm yet filled with intent. "If what I am saying is true," she said, "then you might become one of our strongest assets against them."
Bella hesitated before shaking her head. "We can’t be sure without testing," she replied honestly.
"I agree," Ivy said immediately.
Then, as if struck by a sudden idea, she tilted her head slightly, her expression turning almost playful. "Well... if I were a superior being," she said lightly, "you could try testing it on me first."
Bella’s eyes widened instantly. "What?"
Ivy simply looked at her with an innocent expression, as if she had suggested nothing unusual.
Taking a deep breath, Bella closed her eyes, gathering her focus. When she opened her eyes again, there was a sharpness within them.
"Stand up," she commanded.
Ivy didn’t move. She simply stared at Bella, completely unaffected.
A few seconds passed before Bella sighed softly, the tension leaving her shoulders. "See? It doesn’t work."
Ivy shook her head immediately. "No," she said. "We need more tests. Let’s try on Moona and Maxi."
Bella frowned slightly before replying, "They’ve been turned into zombies once. If my theory is correct, my ability should work on them without resistance."
Even so, they proceeded. When Bella stood before Moona and Maxi, she repeated the command. "Sit down."
Almost instantly, both of them complied without hesitation, their movements smooth and natural, as if the command had been their own thought.
Ivy’s eyes lit up, and she gave Bella a thumbs-up, a faint smile forming on her lips.
But behind that smile, her mind was already racing. ’Another method... to deal with superior beings...’
Until now, she had identified four weaknesses.
Milk, vegetables, and red items. And finally... the zombie virus.
’If a superior being is infected with the virus... and Bella can control them...’
Her thoughts immediately drifted to one person. Silas.
But almost instantly, she dismissed the idea. ’I don’t want him to feel like he’s being controlled...’
Instead, she chose someone else. Jade.
When Ivy went to meet him, she noticed the change immediately.
He had become quieter, more reserved, his presence calmer than before.
When he saw Ivy, a small, genuine smile appeared on his face.
’I’ve let go...’ his expression seemed to say.
Ivy did not waste time. She explained everything to him in detail.
When she finished, Jade nodded without hesitation. "I’ll participate," he said calmly.
Soon, Bella stood before him. She closed her eyes, focusing once more, then opened them sharply.
"Stand up."
For a split second Jade’s body twitched. He almost moved. But then he stopped himself, remaining seated.
Ivy’s eyes narrowed slightly as she observed carefully.
Jade blinked, confusion flickering across his face. "That was... strange," he muttered.
Bella turned toward Ivy with a small smile. "See? It doesn’t work on real superior beings."
But Ivy shook her head and stepped closer to Jade. "Tell me exactly what you felt," she said.
Jade frowned slightly, thinking. "It felt like... something was trying to command me," he said slowly. "And for a moment, I almost obeyed it. But I stopped myself."
Hearing this, Ivy turned toward Bella.
Bella’s eyes narrowed, a spark of interest igniting within them. "Now that... is interesting," she murmured.
’So he resisted because he was aware...? Or was it something else entirely...?’
They decided to test again. Bella gave the same command.
"Stand up." This time nothing happened.
Jade remained completely still, unaffected, as if the influence no longer existed.
Bella sighed softly, crossing her arms. "Looks like we won’t get results this way."
Ivy nodded slowly.
"If only Silas could be included in the experiment." Bella murmured.
Meanwhile, Jade casually took out his phone.
Communication had recently been restored within Ivy’s base thanks to a group of skilled individuals who had reconstructed electrical systems using available materials, iron, wiring, and salvaged components.
Makeshift electric poles now stood across the area, humming faintly with power.
He typed a short message to Silas, explaining what Ivy needed.
After about ten minutes, Silas arrived.
When Ivy saw him at the doorway, she blinked in surprise. "You’re already here?"
Silas shrugged lightly, a faint smile playing on his lips. "Sounded urgent," he replied.
Then his gaze shifted toward her, his tone turning slightly amused. "I heard you need my cooperation for some kind of experiment."
Ivy glanced briefly at Jade, who simply closed his eyes as if uninvolved.
Taking a quiet breath, Ivy turned back to Silas and explained everything in detail.
When she finished, Silas nodded without hesitation. "Alright," he said calmly. "Let’s do it."
He walked over and sat down on the sofa, leaning back comfortably. Since he already knew a command would be used on him, he appeared completely relaxed, as if he were merely waiting for instructions rather than preparing for a test that could reveal something far more dangerous.
Bella commanded him however Silas remained unmoved.
’I knew it...’ Bella thought to herself, her lashes trembling faintly. ’Commands like that were never going to work on him...’
A faint silence lingered in the room, broken only by the soft rustle of clothing and the distant hum of activity within the base.
Bella let out a small breath before smiling lightly, though there was still curiosity in her eyes.
She tilted her head and looked at Ivy. "So... what do we do now?" she asked, her tone gentle but probing.
Ivy opened her eyes again, her gaze thoughtful as she leaned back slightly. "Maybe," she began slowly, choosing her words carefully, "it’s because you haven’t fully awakened your power as a superhuman yet."
Bella blinked, clearly intrigued. "What do you mean?"
Ivy folded her arms loosely, her voice steady as she explained.
"Even hybrids... need to activate their abilities properly," she said. "And the best way to do so is control."
As she spoke, Jade, who had been quietly listening, lifted his head slightly, interest flickering across his otherwise calm face.
"That sounds interesting," he said. "Does that mean... I can awaken something like that too?"
