Zombie Apocalypse: I Have Safe Zone Superpower

Chapter 741: Past Self

Chapter 741: Chapter 741: Past Self

The moment the dream began, the younger Ivy suddenly opened her eyes.

She found herself lying inside an unfamiliar room. But since she was blind, she couldn’t see anything anyway.

Confusion immediately appeared on her face. “Where am I?”

The younger Ivy climbed out of bed and hurried toward the door. Before she could leave, however, someone entered the room.

It was Jade. The moment Jade saw her standing, he immediately rushed forward.

“You shouldn’t move.”

Concern filled his voice. “You are still very weak.”

Hearing those words, Ivy shook her head frantically. Her breathing became uneven. “Where are my parents?”

Panic appeared in her eyes. “I swear they were with me.”

She looked around desperately. “They must be looking for me.”

Then another thought entered her mind. “Oh, right!”

She grabbed Jade’s arm. “Silas should be here too.”

As she spoke, her voice became increasingly disoriented. Her memories were tangled together.

This version of Ivy had forgotten an important truth. Six months had already passed since her parents’ deaths. Even worse, nearly five or six years had passed since Silas had died.

Jade looked at her quietly. Finally, he spoke with heartbreaking gentleness. “Ivy…”

His voice was soft. “They are gone.”

The room suddenly felt silent. “They died a long time ago.”

The moment those words reached her ears, Ivy looked as though her entire world had shattered.

Her lips trembled violently. Tears immediately gathered in her eyes. “No. They were all here…”

The moment those words left her lips, Ivy suddenly stumbled to her feet.

It was as though her mind had completely broken.

“No… no, they were here. I know they were here.”

Her hands reached desperately into the empty air around her.

She moved from one side of the room to another, searching frantically for people who no longer existed.

Her bare feet scraped against the cold floor as she wandered aimlessly, calling out names that would never answer.

“They cannot be gone.”

Her voice cracked. “They were just here.”

Seeing her like this, Jade felt his heart shatter.

A painful lump formed in his throat.

Without hesitation, he stepped forward and pulled her into his arms. “It’s okay.”

His voice trembled slightly. “It’s okay, Ivy.”

He gently patted her back as though comforting a frightened child.

The current Ivy was blind. The world around her was nothing but endless darkness.

She could not see Jade’s face. She could not see the tears gathering in his eyes.

For her, there was only darkness.

As a result, she instinctively shrank back before asking softly, “Who are you?”

Jade’s hand froze. A bitter smile appeared on his face. After a long pause, he replied softly, “I am your soulmate.”

The moment those words reached her ears, Ivy immediately pushed him away. “No!”

Her voice rose sharply. “You are not my soulmate.”

She shook her head repeatedly. “My soulmate is Silas.”

With that, she began shouting his name.

“Silas! Silas! Silas, where are you?!”

Her desperate cries echoed throughout the room. Yet no matter how loudly she shouted, no answer came.

Eventually, her strength left her body. She collapsed onto the floor. Her shoulders trembled violently.

“Why?”

She hugged herself tightly. “Why did things turn out like this?”

Tears soaked her cheeks. A strange feeling surfaced inside her heart. “I feel…”

Her voice became distant. “I feel like things were never supposed to end this way.”

Jade’s breathing became heavy.

Slowly, he crouched in front of her. Looking at her lifeless expression, he finally spoke. “Ivy.”

His voice was gentle. “Do you want to take everything back?”

The room fell silent. “What if I told you…”

He clenched his fists. “…that this was never how things were supposed to happen?”

The moment he spoke those words, Ivy froze.

Her ears twitched slightly. Unable to see him, she instinctively reached forward as if searching for his presence.

“What do you mean?”

Jade sat down in front of her. His voice remained calm. “From what I know, everything you suffered was caused by interference.”

He lowered his head. “But your original future…”

A sad smile appeared on his face. “…was supposed to be a happy one.”

Ivy’s entire body stiffened. “What do you mean?”

Jade finally told her everything.

He revealed how the superior being Ferrero had tampered with her fate.

He explained how her luck had been continuously stolen. How tragedy after tragedy had been forced upon her life.

How every important person around her had gradually been taken away. The more she listened, the more tears flowed from her eyes.

By the time he finished speaking, she was crying uncontrollably. The pain that had been buried deep inside her heart erupted all at once.

At some point, she even lost the desire to continue living. “There is no point anymore.”

Her voice sounded hollow. “I do not want to continue.”

She lowered her head. “I have nobody left.”

Jade immediately interrupted her. “No.”

His tone became firm. “You cannot give up.”

Ivy laughed bitterly. “Why not?”

Her trembling voice filled the room. “I don’t want to live without them.”

Fresh tears rolled down her cheeks. At least Ivy thought they were tears.

However, Jade saw something entirely different. Blood.

Thin streams of blood were flowing from her eyes. The sight caused his heart to ache.

At that moment, Jade regretted everything.

He regretted using his power to see in future and killing Silas’s uncle.

He had helped his father build a powerful business empire. His actions had caused many people to suffer.

Even the Blackthorn Family had suffered because of the chain reactions he had created.

Although some deaths appeared accidental, Jade knew better than anyone how much responsibility rested upon his shoulders.

Closing his eyes, he whispered, “Ivy…”

His voice cracked. “Do not think about anything right now.”

Before she could respond, he gently knocked her unconscious.

For the next several days, Ivy remained in a fragile state.

Jade personally took care of her.

He stayed beside her whenever she woke up in the middle of the night.
