Chapter 748: Aura
Chapter 748: Chapter 748: Aura
Her eyes narrowed slightly. “Or perhaps I should call him your soulmate.”
She smirked. “Your husband.”
Ivy calmly walked forward. She sat down without showing the slightest nervousness. “Well, I considered bringing him.”
Her voice remained indifferent. “But then I realized something.”
She glanced toward Tammy. “I am only dealing with a few stray dogs.”
A faint smile appeared on her face. “Calling my husband for something this insignificant would be an overestimation of the current situation.”
In reality, Silas was busy dealing with the mutated humans.
Hearing Ivy’s response, Coco immediately laughed. “Still pretending to be fearless?”
The confidence she had lost earlier had gradually returned. Especially after witnessing governments’ panic.
In her mind, humanity was still nothing more than a group of frightened rabbits. Compared to superior beings, they were insignificant.
Meanwhile, Ivy completely ignored her. She looked directly at Tammy. “Let’s stop wasting time.”
Her tone was straightforward.
“State your condition. If it is acceptable, I will consider it. Otherwise, we can end this discussion immediately and go back to the war. Anyways, I am not the only one losing.”
Tammy’s expression froze slightly. For a brief moment, she shot a glance toward Nanami. ‘Did you tell her the truth?’
Nanami merely shrugged. His expression practically screamed, ‘You are overthinking things.’
Tammy suppressed her irritation. Then she turned toward Ivy once more. “This is not the attitude a representative should have. The other government would not like it.”
Ivy immediately replied, “The opinions of governments are irrelevant here.”
Her eyes remained fixed on Tammy. “The only thing that matters is your condition.”
For a moment, nobody spoke. Finally, Tammy smiled. “Very well. My condition is simple. You will allow me to take over your body. Your soul will become my servant.”
Her voice sounded frighteningly casual. “In exchange, I promise that no superior being will attack Earth.”
She deliberately stopped there. A clever omission.
Unfortunately for her, Ivy noticed it immediately. “Interesting.”
Ivy leaned back slightly. “You forgot to mention something.”
Tammy raised an eyebrow. “What exactly?”
“For how long?”
The smile on Tammy’s face stiffened.
Ivy calmly continued.
“You never specified how long the superior beings would leave humanity alone.”
For several seconds, Tammy simply stared at her. Then she laughed. “Very perceptive.”
She nodded. “Fine.”
Her voice became slightly colder. “For the next one hundred years, superior beings will not attack Earth.”
She spread her arms. “Is that satisfactory?”
Tammy confidently waited for Ivy’s answer.
However, Ivy remained silent, and several moments passed. Then she shook her head. “No.”
Tammy’s smile disappeared. “No?”
“My life is precious.” Ivy’s voice was calm.
“More importantly, I already reached an agreement with the governments. I am under no obligation to sacrifice myself.”
Tammy’s expression darkened.
Meanwhile, Ivy stood up and turned around. “If that is all, this negotiation is over.”
Without hesitation, she began walking away.
Tammy remained seated, hoping for Ivy to turn around.
She expected Ivy to stop. She expected her to hesitate. She expected some sign of uncertainty. Yet none came.
Ivy continued walking. As though the negotiation genuinely meant nothing. As though she had already made up her mind.
The realization infuriated Tammy. After everything she had done. Ivy still refused to sacrifice herself.
Eventually, Tammy could not endure it anymore. She abruptly stood up.
“Stop!”
Her voice echoed through the ruined building.
Ivy looked at her with an arched brow. Slowly, Tammy marched toward her. A vicious smile appeared on her face. “Oh my.”
Her voice dripped with mockery. “I never realized Ivy could be so heartless. You do not care about the thousands of people dying every day?”
For a moment, complete silence filled the room.
Then Ivy turned around. To everyone’s surprise, she smiled.
“Actually…”
Her eyes met Tammy’s directly. “I do care about them.”
The smile on her face never disappeared. “But caring about them does not mean I am obligated to die for them.”
Tammy’s eyes narrowed.
Because for the first time during the negotiation, she realized that emotional manipulation was not going to work against Ivy.
“I would not even be standing here listening to your nonsense if I did not care about humanity.”
Before Tammy could interrupt, Ivy continued in a calm voice.
“I can offer resources. I can offer weapons. I can offer protection.”
Her gaze became cold. “But Tammy… Forget about my death.”
Her tone left no room for negotiation. Ivy had already made up her mind.
She had lived through unimaginable suffering once before. She had watched her loved ones die. She had experienced betrayal, loneliness, despair, and loss.
And now that she has everything, superior beings want her life, so she would do exactly what she had done in her previous life.
She would kill them. One after another. A frightening ruthlessness appeared deep within her eyes.
At the same time, an invisible pressure spread outward. An indescribable sense of oppression descended upon everyone present.
Tammy froze. Coco’s breathing stopped. Even Nanami’s pupils contracted.
For a brief moment, all three of them felt as though an enormous mountain had been placed upon their shoulders.
Moving even a finger felt difficult.
Meanwhile, Ivy noticed their strange expressions.
She frowned slightly. The moment she did, the pressure vanished. Tammy immediately took a deep breath.
Coco instinctively stepped backward. Both of them glared at Ivy. “How dare you!”
Tammy’s face was pale with anger. “How dare you use your aura to suppress us!”
Coco nodded furiously. “Do you not know that it is against the rules to intentionally suppress lower-ranked beings using your aura?”
Hearing those accusations, Ivy blinked. “Aura?”
Her expression genuinely looked confused. Seeing that reaction, both Tammy and Coco became speechless.
Meanwhile, Nanami looked thoroughly amused. The corners of his lips twitched upward.
‘This girl really has no idea what she just did.’
The thought almost made him laugh.
After all, if Ivy truly understood what had happened, she would never have allowed these two to continue acting so arrogantly.
Eventually, Nanami decided to explain. “Just now, you became emotional.”
