The moment those words reached Tammy’s ears, her face instantly turned deathly pale.
The anger that had filled her eyes only moments ago was now mixed with unmistakable fear. She slowly turned around.
“You… you wouldn’t dare.”
Nanami simply laughed. “There are very few things in this universe that I wouldn’t dare to do.”
His calm confidence completely shattered Tammy’s composure. She collapsed onto the cold stone floor with a dull thud.
A look of utter defeat covered her face. She had nowhere left to go. She couldn’t attack Earth anymore.
The promise itself prevented her from harming it. Yet she also couldn’t report everything to Princess Rayami.
It was only a matter of time before Rayami discovered that Tammy had concealed the truth. If she reported now, she would die.
If she delayed, she would still die. No matter which path she chose, only death awaited her. She was completely trapped.
After taking several shaky breaths, Tammy slowly lifted her head. She stared silently at Nanami for a long time. Finally, she asked in a voice filled with confusion,
“I genuinely can’t understand you. Why are you helping that girl? Is she some kind of important figure? What exactly are you planning, Nanami?”
She clenched both fists. “With this single move, you’ve practically destroyed the future of the superior beings. And instead you’ve placed that future into the hands of a hybrid. Is that really what you wanted?”
Nanami quietly chuckled. “As long as no one interferes with my research, I’ll support them until the very end.”
Tammy suddenly burst into mocking laughter. “Your research? What if that girl changes her mind at the very last moment? What if she betrays you?”
Nanami remained silent for several seconds. Then, a mysterious smile slowly appeared across his face. “Well, I suppose that’s something I’ll simply have to wait and see.”
His gaze became sharp once again. “But until then… I want you to keep your mouth shut. Pretend you don’t know anything.”
Tammy lowered her head. After remaining silent for a long while, she finally spoke through clenched teeth.
“Fine. I’ll listen to you. But remember this. The day the truth finally comes out, I won’t shoulder all the blame alone.”
She slowly raised her head. “I’ll tell everyone that you manipulated me. That you were the one who influenced every decision I made.”
Nanami merely smiled. “So that’s the excuse you’ve already prepared. But remember this. If I get punished, you won’t escape either.”
His meaning couldn’t have been any clearer. If Tammy truly tried to shift all the blame onto him…then he would expose every secret she had desperately tried to hide.
Tammy’s body trembled with rage. “You’ve gone too far!”
She practically screamed. Nanami calmly shrugged. “You started this first.”
Just as the atmosphere reached its breaking point, slow applause echoed through the room. Both Tammy and Nanami immediately turned toward the entrance.
Standing there, with an amused smile on her face, was Coco. “Well…”
She slowly walked inside. “I never imagined so many interesting things were happening behind my back.”
Nanami’s brows subtly knitted together. He distinctly remembered sealing the room before beginning the conversation.
Then, his gaze briefly landed on Tammy. ‘She must’ve opened the door without closing it again. That allowed Coco to overhear everything. What an idiot!’
Meanwhile, Coco leisurely folded her arms. She looked directly at Nanami. “Since you like those Earthlings so much, why don’t you simply return to Earth? You can become one of them.”
She laughed softly. “Why continue pretending to be a superior being?”
Although her tone sounded playful, the hatred burning within her eyes was impossible to ignore.
Then, she shifted her attention toward Tammy. “Perhaps this is the real reason you never received the Temporal Storage.”
The instant those words left Coco’s mouth, Tammy froze.
‘Temporal Storage? No… I did receive it. But according to Nanami… Ivy had already tricked everyone. Then… how could I possibly have obtained the real Temporal Storage?’
Her expression gradually became uncertain. ‘Unless… The Temporal Storage I received is fake.’
Another possibility suddenly surfaced inside her mind. ‘Or, perhaps, by sheer coincidence, I actually stole Ivy’s real Temporal Storage.’
The more she thought about it, the more plausible it sounded. After all, the punishment imposed by the promise had already begun affecting her authority.
By the time she finished thinking everything through, her expression had completely settled. She slowly nodded. “Indeed. No temporal storage ever appeared. Which can only mean that you’ve been lying to us all along.”
Hearing that, Coco silently stared at Tammy. Her eyes flickered repeatedly. ‘Liar.’
She had personally witnessed Tammy taking away the seeds from the spaceship’s hybrid seeds section. She knew with absolute certainty that Tammy had obtained the temporal storage.
Yet now, Tammy was denying it. Countless thoughts rapidly flashed through Coco’s mind.
‘Perhaps the temporal storage was somehow separated. Or… Maybe Ivy discovered a method to transfer her soul into another human body but not the temporal storage.’
The more she analysed it, the more everything seemed to make sense.
When that realisation settled in, she looked toward Tammy with even greater hostility.
‘That greedy woman, she obtained the Temporal Storage and didn’t even think about sharing it with me.’
Suppressing the murderous thoughts inside her heart, Coco suddenly smiled sweetly.
“However, Tammy, there’s one thing I genuinely don’t understand. You should’ve realised it before anyone else. If you truly failed to obtain the Temporal Storage, then wouldn’t that mean you made a losing deal?”
Her smile widened. “After all… I clearly remember someone desperately wanting the blueprints for all those specialised artefacts on Earth. For someone who took so much risk… you are indeed unlucky.”
Tammy’s eyes instantly turned cold. She slowly looked toward Coco. “Coco. How dare you speak to me in that tone? Have you forgotten our hierarchy?”
The instant those words fell, Tammy activated her bloodline. An overwhelming pressure instantly spread throughout the room.
Coco’s aura was completely suppressed by hers. She gritted her teeth. “I’m sorry. I realise my mistake.”
Seeing that Coco had admitted defeat, Tammy finally withdrew the pressure. “Good.”
Without sparing Coco another glance, she turned toward Nanami. “Anyway, I’ll be leaving first.”
Without waiting for anyone’s response, she immediately walked away. Coco clenched her teeth in frustration.
Before leaving, she shot Nanami one final meaningful glance. Then, she silently disappeared as well.
Nanami frowned deeply. An uneasy feeling settled inside his chest. Without wasting another second, he immediately activated his communication link and contacted Silas.
His message was extremely brief. “Tammy isn’t the biggest threat anymore. The person you all need to watch is Coco.”
The moment Nanami sent the message, he slowly closed his eyes. His instincts had been warning him ever since Coco appeared.
Something about her was wrong.
She behaved like an ordinary superior being, acting carefree and occasionally foolish, yet every action she took seemed strangely calculated.
It was as though she was deliberately pretending to be an ordinary person. ‘Coco… you’re definitely hiding something.’
Far away, Silas received Nanami’s message. He calmly read through every word before replying. “When will you be returning?”
The moment the message was sent, he quietly waited for Nanami’s response. After all… the two of them had already reached an agreement.
Nanami would secretly help the earthlings to prepare for the impending war. He would support them from the shadows, providing knowledge, resources, and everything necessary for their growth.
