Zombie Apocalypse: I Have Safe Zone Superpower

Chapter 783: Wonton Soup

Chapter 783: Chapter 783: Wonton Soup

At that moment, another message suddenly arrived. “Everything on my side has already been prepared. In one day, begin your plan.”

After reading those words, Silas finally let out a quiet sigh of relief. At least, everything was proceeding according to plan.

Meanwhile, inside the underground base, a pair of soft arms suddenly wrapped themselves around his waist.

Silas lowered his head. Ivy had buried her face against his chest. She looked incredibly sleepy, her half-open eyes still carrying traces of drowsiness.

The blanket covered both of them as they lazily remained in bed. Neither of them had gone to work that day.

For the first time in a long while, Silas had allowed himself a brief moment of peace. He simply wanted to stay beside Ivy.

Ivy rubbed her cheek against his chest before mumbling, “What are you doing?”

Her sleepy voice sounded especially adorable. Silas gently pinched her nose. “You don’t even let me finish a simple communication. Don’t you want Earth to win this battle?”

The moment she heard that, Ivy instantly became more awake. “Of course I do! I wanted it before anyone else. If Earth loses, won’t I be the first one to suffer?”

Silas couldn’t help but laugh. “Don’t worry. As long as I’m here, nothing will happen.”

Hearing his reassuring words, Ivy obediently nodded. Then another thought suddenly crossed her mind. “What about Ron? Is he alright now? I already asked Asher to examine him. He won’t have any serious complications for now.”

Then he paused. A hint of admiration appeared in his eyes.

“But that guy, he truly possesses an incredible superpower. If only he could evolve it faster, he’d become terrifying.”

Curiosity immediately appeared on Ivy’s face. “Really? So, how long did it take him just to stop time for one minute?”

Silas calmly answered, “Six months.”

The room instantly became quiet. Ivy’s eyes widened. “Six months?”

She couldn’t believe it. Only one minute. Yet it had required half a year of relentless training.

She immediately asked, “Did he train for… two hours every day?”

Silas slowly shook his head. “No. Almost eighteen hours. He barely slept. For the past several months, he practically pushed his body beyond its limits. He was constantly afraid.”

His gaze drifted toward the window. “He worried that when the decisive battle finally arrived, he’d fail everyone. So he trained. Until he nearly collapsed.”

A faint smile finally appeared on Silas’s lips. “But in the end, he succeeded. He did an excellent job.”

Hearing that, Ivy couldn’t help smiling warmly. “Then…Once we leave this place… I’m definitely going to reward him.”

Silas nodded in agreement. “He deserves it.”

He counted on his fingers. “Ron, Alana, Nora, Felix. They all deserve rewards. They helped us tremendously this time.”

Ivy quietly nodded. Then, she thought about her teacher. Despite being so old…her teacher had still worried about her every single day.

A feeling of guilt quietly spread through Ivy’s heart. ‘I’ve really caused everyone so much trouble…’

Just as she became lost in thought, Silas gently flicked her forehead. “Don’t think too much.”

He smiled softly. “I’ll make you something delicious.”

The gloomy expression on Ivy’s face instantly disappeared. “I want wonton soup.”

She raised one hand enthusiastically. Silas chuckled. “Wonton soup it is.”

He immediately walked toward the kitchen.

………………………………..

The aroma of fresh chicken broth slowly filled the underground base.

Silas first simmered chicken bones with ginger, garlic, spring onions, and a few white peppercorns for nearly an hour, creating a clear yet flavourful broth.

Meanwhile, he prepared the wonton filling by mixing finely minced chicken, chopped shrimp, grated ginger, garlic, spring onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, white pepper, and a small pinch of salt until everything became smooth and fragrant.

He carefully placed a spoonful of filling into each thin wonton wrapper, lightly moistened the edges with water, folded them into neat little parcels, and sealed them tightly.

Once the broth reached a gentle boil, he lowered the heat before adding the wontons one by one.

Within a few minutes, the delicate dumplings floated to the surface, their translucent wrappers revealing the juicy filling inside.

Finally, he added fresh bok choy, sliced mushrooms, and chopped spring onions before seasoning the soup with a little light soy sauce and a few drops of sesame oil.

After sprinkling freshly chopped coriander over the top, the steaming bowl of wonton soup was finally ready.

Silas carried the bowl back carefully. The rich aroma immediately drifted through the room. Ivy’s eyes sparkled. “It smells amazing.”

She eagerly accepted the bowl. The first spoonful entered her mouth. The warm broth spread across her tongue.

The wonton wrapper was silky smooth, while the juicy filling burst with savory flavors. Before she knew it, she had finished the entire bowl.

The warmth spreading through her stomach instantly improved her mood. She happily placed the empty bowl down. “I’m full.”

She stretched lazily before attempting to stand up. However, the moment she rose to her feet, a sudden wave of nausea struck her.

Her face immediately turned pale. She quickly covered her mouth. Without saying a word, she rushed toward the bathroom.

The sound of vomiting echoed from inside. Silas’s expression instantly changed.

He hurried after her. By the time he entered the bathroom, Ivy was already leaning over the sink, her slender body trembling slightly as she continued throwing up.

Panic immediately flashed across Silas’s face. He gently held her shoulders while rubbing her back with slow, comforting strokes. “Ivy!”

His voice carried obvious worry. “What happened?”

After several more moments, the nausea finally subsided. Ivy rinsed her mouth before splashing cool water onto her face.

She let out a tired sigh. “I think it’s just morning sickness.”

The moment Silas heard those words, his heart sank. An indescribable feeling of guilt overwhelmed him.

‘It must be because my condition wasn’t perfect when we conceived this baby… Otherwise… Why would she have to suffer like this?’

Seeing his guilty expression, Ivy gently poked his forehead. “Don’t think too much.”

Then she suddenly rubbed her stomach. “Strangely enough, I feel even hungrier now.”

Silas helplessly laughed. “Of course you do. You just threw up everything you ate.”

He gently held her hand. “And besides, you’re feeding two people now.”

Without wasting another second, he returned to the kitchen to prepare another meal for her.

Even while cooking, he couldn’t stop worrying. He immediately contacted the doctor. “Doctor… Is it normal for Ivy to throw up like that?”

The doctor remained silent for several seconds. Finally… he let out a long, exhausted sigh. “Mr Silas… I’ve already told you several times. Morning sickness is one of the most common pregnancy symptoms. It’s completely normal. You don’t need to panic every single time.”

Only after hearing that explanation did Silas finally relax. Even so, he silently made a vow. ‘This is enough. I’m never letting Ivy suffer like this again.’

Watching the woman he treasured most repeatedly throw up because of pregnancy, it hurt him far more than any physical injury ever could.

‘After this child is born… I’m definitely wearing a condom every single time. One child is enough. I can’t bear watching her go through this all over again.’

Meanwhile, completely unaware of the thoughts running through Silas’s mind, Ivy gently placed one hand over her stomach.

Her eyes were filled with curiosity. “I wonder… can you hear Mommy? Baby… can you stop troubling Mommy?”

She waited expectantly. No response came. After waiting for a while, she laughed at herself. “Maybe I’m just overthinking things.”

Still smiling, she slowly stood up and walked toward the bathroom.

Elsewhere, someone else was becoming increasingly irritated.

It was none other than Asher. For the past several days, he had repeatedly seen Danielle leaving the base early in the morning and returning late at night.

Every single time she passed by him, she acted as though he didn’t even exist. She barely greeted him. She rarely looked in his direction.

It was as though she was deliberately avoiding him. The more Asher thought about it, the more annoyed he became.

‘Ignoring me? What exactly did I do wrong? Didn’t I even help her the last time? And now she’s pretending not to know me? Has she really become that ungrateful?’

Eventually, Asher finally found an opportunity. Without giving Danielle any chance to refuse, he directly summoned her to his office.

When she received the notification, Danielle let out a helpless sigh.

She had already used every bit of intelligence and every possible excuse she could think of to avoid him these past few days.

Yet, in the end, he had still noticed. Taking a slow, calming breath, she walked toward his office. Once she reached the door, she gently knocked.
