Chapter 829: Lovebirds
Chapter 829: Chapter 829: Lovebirds
Rayami’s fingers tightened slightly against her dress.
“Your punishment is that you will be starved for the next three days, and you will personally clean this entire palace. Do you have any objection?”
Rayami lowered her head further.
“I have no objection.”
The woman gave her one last look before turning around and walking out of the room.
The moment she disappeared, Rayami’s expression twisted with fury.
She began screaming in anger, unable to contain the frustration boiling inside her.
All of her plans were falling apart.
The trap she had carefully prepared for the other princesses had failed.
Even the trap she had laid specifically for Ivy seemed to have vanished without leaving a trace.
It felt as though an invisible hand was constantly forcing her to make the wrong decisions while allowing her enemies to take control of the situation.
The thought made Rayami furious.
‘Why does everything keep going wrong?’
Just as she was thinking about what her next move should be, someone knocked on the door.
Rayami frowned.
“Yes?”
A maid quickly entered and lowered her head.
“Princess Catherine is expected to die within the next hundred days.”
The moment Rayami heard those words, her eyes lit up.
For the first time in a long while, she had finally received genuinely good news.
She almost wanted to celebrate immediately.
However, she quickly suppressed her excitement and maintained a calm expression.
“I understand. Leave now.”
The maid bowed and quickly left.
Once the door closed behind her, Rayami began thinking about how she could obtain a portion of Princess Catherine’s inheritance.
Princess Catherine was King Hugo’s favorite sister, or more precisely, one of the sisters he trusted the most.
She had supported him during his ascension and had helped him when he was fighting to secure his position.
Because of that, Hugo had once vowed that he would give Eugenia and Valer an opportunity to compete against the other princesses and princes for the throne.
Catherine had been deeply grateful to him for that promise.
In return, she had declared that after her death, a portion of the assets she had accumulated would be given as an inheritance to all of her niece and nephew.
The moment that announcement was made, every prince and princess suddenly became interested in taking care of her.
Who was Catherine? The richest woman on the entire planet, Astra.
They began speaking about how much they loved Princess Catherine and how deeply they cared about her.
However, when news of Catherine’s impending death eventually spread, she saw everyone’s true faces.
The princes and princesses came to offer their condolences, but most of them behaved as though they were merely waiting for her to die.
Some even went as far as mistreating her own children.
Catherine became furious. She immediately withdrew her previous declaration.
Hugo wanted to argue with her, but he knew that his own children were in the wrong.
From that moment onward, the relationship between the two siblings became somewhat strained.
The incident also infuriated Hugo so much that he decided not to pass the throne directly to his own son or daughter.
Instead, he would conduct a special selection test, and the throne would ultimately be passed to whoever demonstrated the highest compatibility.
Now that the selection was about to begin, Rayami saw an opportunity.
‘Perhaps this is finally my chance to demonstrate my abilities.’
Normally, if everything depended solely on blood compatibility, Rayami knew that she might never have the opportunity to become queen.
But now the situation was different.
She clenched her fists, took a deep breath, and slowly forced a smile onto her face.
Then she walked out of the room and entered her hover car.
Once she had settled into her seat, she looked toward the driver.
“Take me to Aunt Catherine’s palace.”
Meanwhile, Ivy and the other four had already begun operating their restaurant.
The restaurant had been rented in an area far away from their original location.
It was situated directly in the middle of a busy market, surrounded by shops and stalls that attracted people throughout the day.
They had already studied the market’s patterns and discovered that although it remained active almost every day, Thursdays and Tuesdays usually attracted particularly large crowds.
The calendar used on Planet Astra was also somewhat strange to them.
Their equivalent of Sunday and Saturday fell on Tuesday and Thursday, which felt extremely unusual compared with the calendars they were accustomed to.
Still, they decided to simply follow the local customs.
The restaurant had made an incredibly bold announcement.
They claimed that they could provide actual edible food.
The moment that news spread through the market, people became curious.
Before long, a crowd gathered outside the restaurant.
People waited impatiently for the doors to open, and the moment they finally did, several customers rushed inside.
One by one, they began placing their orders.
When they received the menus, many of them immediately became fascinated.
The menu contained incredibly lifelike drawings of every dish, making even the simplest food look irresistible.
One customer pointed excitedly toward the picture of stir-fried vegetables.
“I want this one! 40 bowls.”
Ivy quickly stepped forward.
“Sorry, but that is too much for one person. We have a limit of two bowls per person.”
Hearing those words, the man snorted and shook his head. “If you keep limiting the sales like this, you are not going to have a good day.”
As he spoke, he stared at Ivy with an unmistakably interested gaze. This woman was truly beautiful.
Even though her hair looked similar to that of the other people around her, there was a unique spark about her that made it difficult to look away.
Not only that, she carried herself with a quiet charm that caught his attention so completely that his hand subconsciously reached toward Ivy.
Before he could get any closer, however, Silas stopped him.
The man froze for a moment before realizing what he had almost done. His face immediately changed, and he hurriedly pulled his hand back.
“I’m sorry, brother. I think she is my soulmate.”
Silas laughed lightly, though there was a faint warning in his eyes. “What a coincidence. She is my soulmate. So, I was wondering how she suddenly became your soulmate?”
The man’s entire face turned red with embarrassment.
Among superior beings, one of the most common excuses used whenever someone felt an inexplicable attraction toward another person was, “I’m sorry, I thought you were my soulmate.”
Unfortunately, it had also become a catchphrase among many shameless molesters.
Realizing how ridiculous his excuse sounded, the man quickly lowered his head and walked away, his ears still burning with embarrassment.
Ivy, on the other hand, was too busy to pay much attention to him. She was working alongside Bella and Alana, helping serve the food as quickly as possible.
Jade and Silas were responsible for cooking in the kitchen.
The situation was rather amusing because Alana did not know how to cook since her husband had always handled the cooking at home.
Bella did not know how to cook either because her eldest sister had always taken care of it for her.
Ivy, on the other hand, knew how to cook, but Silas had strictly forbidden her from going anywhere near the kitchen.
He had even forbidden her from serving food, but Ivy had been secretly sneaking around and helping whenever she could.
It reminded Ivy of her past life, back when the apocalypse had not yet arrived and she had once worked as a waitress.
At that time, Silas would often sneak into the café, order dozens of lattes, and even boldly announce that he wanted to buy everything that was still in stock that day.
Afterward, he would shamelessly request that Ivy stay beside him and serve as his personal customer-service representative.
At first, the café owner still maintained some dignity and tried to stop him from disturbing Ivy.
However, as time passed, the owner eventually gave up.
“You two lovebirds, or whatever you are planning, just keep doing it. I am not against it.”
And so, fourteen-year-old Ivy would have to sit across from Silas while he continuously pushed one latte after another toward her.
Ivy would stare at him with her innocent pink eyes before reminding him, “I have a milk allergy.”
Silas would sigh helplessly, take the latte back, and then rummage through the things he had bought until he found cookies that did not contain milk.
He would push them toward her instead.
Ivy would quietly take a cookie and bite into it while watching him with those innocent eyes.
