Zombie Apocalypse: I Have Safe Zone Superpower

Chapter 851: Gold Card

Chapter 851: Chapter 851: Gold Card

He gestured impatiently toward the virtual reality equipment in the other room.

“The examination portal will close in the next two hours, and our rankings will be determined by each player’s performance. If I don’t do something immediately, my ranking will definitely suffer, and I might even end up receiving a demerit!”

Ivy turned toward him, finally remembering the reason for his earlier panic.

“Can you invite someone from outside your school to become your partner?”

Valer looked at her and nodded.

“Of course I can. In fact, my partner doesn’t have to be from my university at all. They can come from another school or even another institution. The most important thing is that their blood compatibility must be significantly higher than mine. The greater the difference, the better the resources and opportunities we might receive through the partnership.”

Upon hearing his answer, Ivy immediately stood up.

“Then I would like to give it a try.”

Valerie stared at her for a moment, his expression becoming difficult to read.

After a brief pause, he asked, “Do you know why I didn’t ask my own sister to help me, even though I was already desperate to find a suitable partner?”

He walked toward Ivy, stopping directly in front of her.

There was no arrogance or open disdain in his eyes, but a faint trace of mockery remained in his expression.

It was as though he believed Ivy was overestimating her own abilities and was about to discover an unpleasant truth.

Looking straight into her eyes, Valerie spoke bluntly.

“You might think that your blood compatibility is exceptionally high, but Ivy, let me give you a reality check. At most, I would estimate your compatibility to be somewhere around 85 or 86 per cent. That is certainly impressive, but it might not be enough to give me the advantage I need.”

Ivy chuckled at his words, seemingly not offended in the slightest.

“Without even giving me a chance to prove myself, you have already assigned me a number. Don’t you think you are practically calling yourself an idiot by judging someone solely on the basis of appearances?”

For the first time since the conversation began, Valerie was genuinely taken aback. He stared at Ivy for a moment before a smile slowly spread across his face.

“You truly have a way of leaving me speechless, don’t you?”

He shook his head with a faint laugh before gesturing toward the virtual reality equipment.

“All right, let’s go and see what you can actually do.”

With that, the two of them walked toward the VR gaming platform.

Before Ivy could enter the game, however, she had to complete the registration process.

She extended her hand toward the controller, where a small, needle-like mechanism emerged from the surface.

Following Valerie’s instructions, she allowed it to prick her finger and let a drop of blood fall onto the designated sensor.

The instant her blood touched the controller, a faint red glow spread across its surface.

A series of symbols appeared on the surrounding screens, and the machine emitted a soft electronic chime as it began analyzing her information.

Valerie stepped closer and helped Ivy put on the virtual reality goggles, adjusting them carefully to ensure that they fitted comfortably.

“Once the system finishes registering you, the game will begin automatically. Just follow the instructions that appear in front of you.”

Ivy nodded and closed her eyes for a moment.

When she opened them again, the world around her had completely changed.

She found herself standing in a vast grassland that stretched far into the distance.

However, unlike the lush green fields she might have expected, the ground beneath her feet was dry and cracked, with patches of withered grass scattered across the barren landscape.

The sky above her was dim and gloomy, casting a strange shadow over the desolate surroundings.

Ivy slowly turned her head, taking in the unfamiliar environment.

Several shadowy figures were scattered across the grassland, their indistinct silhouettes moving through the haze as they gradually approached her position.

Although she knew that she was inside a virtual reality game, the unsettling atmosphere made the experience feel disturbingly real.

‘So this is Monster Invasion.’

Before Ivy could examine her surroundings any further, a translucent prompt suddenly appeared in front of her eyes.

A mechanical voice sounded in her ears, announcing the result of the system’s initial scan.

“Three superpowers have been detected. Would the host like to merge them?”

Ivy’s eyes flickered with surprise as she read the message.

After a brief moment of consideration, she answered without hesitation.

“Merge.”

The next second, five superpowers had emerged.

Ivy blinked in surprise, wondering if she had heard something wrong.

Clearly, the mysterious voice had mentioned three superpowers earlier, so how had she suddenly ended up with four?

Confused, she quickly tried to access her abilities to investigate what had happened, but before she could figure anything out, the system’s voice rang out again.

[You are the first player on the entire planet to possess five superpowers. You have now been granted the title of Superpower Queen.]

When Ivy heard the title, the corners of her lips twitched involuntarily.

‘Superpower Queen? What kind of ridiculous title is that?’ Nevertheless, she decided not to waste her time dwelling on it and focused her attention on the system’s next announcement.

“As a reward, you are granted…”

The system fell silent for a long time, leaving Ivy waiting expectantly for the rest of the announcement.

However, instead of hearing another word, she suddenly noticed a blank golden card materializing in front of her.

The card shimmered faintly under the light, but there was no information or description written on its surface.

Ivy waited and waited, yet the system offered no further explanation. Just as she began to wonder whether the reward announcement had ended there, another notification finally sounded.

[Mr. Valer Higgins wants to partner up with you. Would you like to partner with him before entering the game and receiving your allocated resources, or would you prefer to play as a solo player?]

Ivy immediately accepted Valer’s invitation without giving it a second thought. The next moment, the scenery around her shifted, and she found herself standing beside Valer in the game world.

“Now, look at how few resources you might receive,” Valer said as he gestured towards the ground in front of him. “These are all the resources I received.”

Ivy followed his gesture and saw a small bundle containing a few bottles of water and several bags of takeaway food.

The supplies looked ordinary enough, but what truly stunned her was their hyperrealistic appearance.

Every bottle had tiny droplets of moisture clinging to its surface, and even the takeaway bags looked as though they had been brought directly from a real restaurant.

‘This is far too realistic. It feels more like the real world than a game.’

While Ivy was still examining the supplies, the system’s voice suddenly echoed through the air.

[The player has been completely analyzed. The following are the resources that you are eligible to receive.]

The next second, a tremendous rumbling sound shook the surroundings, startling both of them.

Valer immediately tightened his grip on the sword in his hand, his eyes sweeping across the barren landscape as he prepared for an attack.

‘Is a monster coming?’

However, before he could even identify the source of the noise, something entirely unexpected happened.

Countless bags and treasure chests began raining down from the sky, crashing onto the ground with heavy thuds.

The sound continued for several moments before finally subsiding, leaving the surrounding area completely transformed.

Within a radius of approximately ten meters around Ivy, the ground was now covered with treasure chests and piles of resources.

There were all kinds of food, construction materials, blueprints, and numerous other items. Valer recognized many of them because he had seen similar treasures before, but only in the exclusive caches of legendary players.

For a moment, he stood there in stunned silence, unable to comprehend what he was seeing. Then, he slowly turned towards Ivy, his expression filled with disbelief.

“Your blood compatibility is definitely higher than ninety percent!”

Ivy folded her arms across her chest and gave him a smug look. “I told you so, but you refused to believe me.”

Valer barely had time to react to her teasing before he hurriedly pointed towards the treasure chests, his anxiety rising as he remembered the limited time remaining.

“Now, open these chests quickly. My time is running out, and I still need to improve my ranking!”
