Chapter 674: Disappearing ( 1 )

Chapter 674: Disappearing ( 1 )

Before leaving, Jiao Lizhi prepared a total of 1,000 crystal cores and 10 pieces of Sthanam crystal. The type of crystal cores distributed depended on each member’s ability type. As for the Sthanam crystal, each piece was the size of one thumb segment.

Besides the crystals, she also prepared 3 liters of pond water for each member and some emergency medicines. As for other supplies, she did not prepare any. With Xiao Qi, Feng Yun, and Pei Yixie present, they would not need to worry about going hungry.

By the time they finished their preparations, it was already one o’clock in the afternoon. After lunch, the members set out to carry out their missions.

This time, they drove an armored vehicle instead of an SUV. When the guards at the entrance saw them, they quickly removed the barricades and opened the gate. As usual, the members rolled down the car windows and had a brief chat with the guards.

"Comrade Xiao, are you going on a mission again?" one of the guards greeted Xiao Qi.

Meeting a familiar face, Xiao Qi nodded and replied, "We might be staying outside for a few weeks."

The guard nodded and said, "Stay safe and good luck."

"Thank you, Brother," Xiao Qi said with a smile, handing him a few boxes of dried rations. The guard thanked him and accepted the gift.

Seeing the food, other guards gathered around after the Phantom Team left. "Sergeant, do you know them?" one of them asked.

"They are members of the Phantom Team. I’m lucky enough to have a good relationship with one of them," the young Sergeant replied with a hint of pride.

"Sergeant, you’re amazing. Everyone knows the Phantom Team rarely gets close to others. How did you manage it?" another guard said enviously.

Hearing this, the Sergeant waved his hand and said, "They might look aloof and indifferent, but in reality, they are very kind and generous."

"All of you are new here and might not know this, but without them, it would be impossible for us to enjoy good food and clean water. Even the equipment for setting up the hydroponic farmland was provided by them."

"Sergeant, I heard that most of the water used for the farmland was provided by the Phantom Team Captain’s girlfriend. Is that true?" a young woman asked.

Looking at the female guard, the Sergeant replied, "No one knows if that’s true or not, but it’s a fact that Comrade Jiao is one of the strongest water-type ability-users in the entire Lin’an City Base."

Hearing this, the female guard let out a sigh and said with admiration clear in her eyes, "I’m also a water-type ability-user, but I can only create one cup of water before I run out of energy."

Noticing her dejected emotion, the Sergeant patted her shoulder and encouraged her, "No rush. You just awakened your ability. As long as you train diligently, I believe you will become as strong as her."

The female guard nodded firmly. "Sergeant, I will train hard!"

"Alright, carry these supplies back to the tent and return to your post," the Sergeant said.

Following his order, the guards stored the dried rations and returned to their posts.

Not knowing that they had become a topic for discussion, Jin Xuyan, Jiao Lizhi, and Du Beiye left the base and headed straight for the train station.

Since the damaged road had been repaired and no wandering zombies blocked their way, they reached the station in less than three hours.

They parked their car twenty meters away from the train station’s entrance. After Jiao Lizhi stored the car in her space, they continued to travel on foot.

When they arrived at the train station, they met a large group of people coming out. Seeing them, the man leading the group looked at them coldly and asked, "Where did you take my people away?"

Facing the man, Jin Xuyan replied calmly, "They should have been relocated to the Green Lake Base in Jinxing City by now."

Hearing this, the people following the leader started to whisper to each other. Most of them already heard the rumors about this base, but none believed it existed until now.

Noticing this, the leader said, "What Green Lake Base? I have never heard of it."

"Of course, you have never heard of it. It’s a new base under the Lin’an City Base. It is still in initial development, and they are currently recruiting people to build the base," Jiao Lizhi replied casually.

She gave them a glance and added, "If you go there now, you should be able to get a job and earn points. I heard that you can use these points to buy supplies, rent a house, and even use them to pay for medical treatment."

After she said this, one of the men asked, "Comrade, are you saying that these points can be used like money?"

Jiao Lizhi nodded and replied, "It’s equivalent to money. It can even be exchanged for a crystal core."

If the group was already tempted by her previous words, when they heard that the points could be used to get crystal cores, they no longer hesitated.

A young woman leaned closer to the leader and said coquettishly, "Honey, we might be able to get supplies and water from those people, but we need to give them crystal cores in exchange."

"To advance, we need a lot of crystal cores. I think it’s not a bad idea to check out the Green Lake Base. If that place is not as good as they said, we can return anytime."

The leader frowned at her words. No one knew the reason he insisted on taking those ordinary people back and staying in this damned place.

Besides crystal cores, he had to feed that thing in the underground with at least five people every day. If he failed to complete his task, he had only one end: death.

While he was still hesitating, Krayan’s voice suddenly echoed in Du Beiye’s mind. "Host, there is a parasite inside that person’s body. It’s planted by the Matkuna race."
