As soon as she heard Krayan’s words, Du Beiye narrowed her eyes and flicked her wrist. The next moment, her right bracelet turned into a sharp, thin dagger.

Before everyone could react, she had already dashed toward the leader. With her left hand grabbing his neck, she pulled him forward and moved to his back. At the same time, she kicked the woman away.

When she raised the blade, the woman lying on the ground several meters away shouted in fear, "Stop! What are you doing?!"

Everyone was shocked to see the gleaming blade pierce the back of their leader’s neck. The tip of the blade pierced the man’s nape, drawing blood and dyeing the man’s collar red.

Jiao Lizhi was taken aback by her sister’s action. But knowing that she wouldn’t do anything without a reason, she fully trusted her. Seeing the people attacking her sister, she raised her hand and created an ice barrier to block the incoming attacks.

The fireballs exploded. The metal spear pierced the ice shield but was unable to break it. The wooden ball was even more useless; as it hit the ice shield, it was repelled.

Under the attacks, Du Beiye was as calm as a capybara. With a flick of her wrist, a small insect hidden five centimeters under the skin was dug out of the man’s nape. As the insect tried to escape, she reached out and grabbed it.

"Collect the specimen," she said.

The next second, the insect disappeared from her palm and was transferred to her system’s specimen storage. Everything happened in less than ten seconds.

When she finished dealing with the bug, she threw the man away. The leader fell to the ground with a thud. He lay there with his eyes closed, unmoving.

Seeing this, the young woman rushed over and asked angrily, "What did you do to my boyfriend?!"

Du Beiye wiped the blood on her hand with a piece of torn fabric and replied, "He has only fainted from shock. Just stop his bleeding, and he will be fine."

"Beiye, what happened?" Jin Xuyan asked.

"Captain, this man was implanted with a bug. He must know about that thing underground. Should we interrogate him?" Du Beiye asked.

Jiao Lizhi thought for a moment and asked, "Is he planted with a controlling bug?"

Du Beiye nodded and replied, "It’s a D-rank bug. It won’t be able to control him completely, but if it’s not removed, it will be able to destroy his brain the moment he fails his mission."

The moment she heard this, Jiao Lizhi frowned and turned to the group. "This place is not safe. There is a level-five mutant plant in the lowest underground level. If you don’t leave now, you might lose your lives. Go to the Green Lake Base."

When they heard her words, no one believed her. But before they could confront her, the ground shook. Everyone was shocked by the sudden situation.

"Earthquake!" one of them shouted as he quickly lay on the ground.

As the ground shook, it was pierced by countless thick roots. The roots were at least one meter thick, with tips as sharp as blades.

The roots continued piercing the ground, creating hole after hole. Realizing the situation, the group scrambled to their feet and ran toward the entrance.

"It’s not an earthquake, it’s a mutant plant!"

"Run!"

Amid their shouts and runnings, several people were caught by the roots and pulled back into the holes. Seeing the massive man-eating plant inside, their faces turned pale instantly.

Due to fear, they unleashed their attacks randomly. Some attacks hit the mutant, and some missed the target. Even so, the attacks dealt no damage at all.

"No! Save me!"

"Help! I don’t want to die!"

When the group heard their comrades’ cries for help, they stopped for a moment. But they only hesitated for a moment before continuing to run for their lives.

Seeing this, the people who were caught thought that they would end up as food for the mutant and lost hope.

The pain in their backs and buttocks reminded them that they were still alive.

After a moment, they came back to their senses and raised their heads, only to see three shadows moving at high speed. With every movement, green liquid spurted out from the roots.

One of the roots was cut off and fell not far from them.
