Chapter 678: Level Four ( 2 )
Chapter 678: Level Four ( 2 )
Du Beiye went to take a bath in the public bathhouse before going to the cafeteria for a meal. While eating, she asked Krayan to continue tracking Gaia’s location.
Before she finished her meal, she finally heard Krayan’s voice. "Host, we have received a reply from Gaia."
"Show me the message," Du Beiye said softly.
The next moment, a transparent blue screen appeared in front of her. Fortunately, only she could see it, or the people sitting beside her would be shocked.
On the screen were the coordinates of Jiao Lizhi’s location and information about Gaia’s upgrade protocol.
After reading the information, Du Beiye finally felt at ease. Since the space was being upgraded, her sister should have been in the process of breaking through.
As long as Gaia reached level four, it would be able to activate the teleportation function. Although the requirements to use this function were harsh, it was a life-saving function. Without this function, her sister would have been torn apart during the space jump when the space gate was blown up.
No longer worried about her sister’s safety, Du Beiye’s appetite returned to normal. She quickly finished her meal and went to check out the newly established market.
While she was strolling through the market, the Phantom Team members who went outside to carry out their mission met many survivors.
Since they had taken away all the supplies in the area, they gave them some food and water before giving them directions to the Green Lake Base. With them clearing the zombies and mutants, the survivors managed to reach the base without any incidents.
It had been a while since they reached level three, and after so many battles, their energy pools had almost doubled by now. With limited time, they continued clearing the zombies even after the red moon hung in the sky.
The situation continued for several days.
On the fifth day after Jiao Lizhi and Jin Xuyan disappeared, the Phantom Team had already cleared half of the zombies in Jinxing City.
The members returned to the Green Lake Base and handed over the supplies to the base. At this moment, Xie Zhou was supervising the guards as they counted and recorded the supplies.
Standing beside him was Li Sikai, who was tasked by Zhang Yuan to supervise the handover. When they finished calculating the supplies, it was already noon.
"Commander, this is the supply list," a guard said as he handed a folder to Xie Zhou.
Xie Zhou nodded and checked the list. After a while, he closed the folder and said, "Comrade Li, I will report this to Commander Xun. The base will pay your team according to the usual price."
Li Sikai had no objections and agreed readily. "Then I will leave this matter to you, Commander Xie."
"No problem."
After signing the handover documents, Li Sikai returned to the villa with the members. The moment they returned, Feng Yun, Xiao Qi, and Pei Yixie went to sleep after taking quick showers.
After taking out almost everything from their spaces, their mental energy was drained. As for Du Beiye, her so-called space was actually her system’s inventory, so she didn’t use any of her mental energy.
When she came out of her room after taking a quick shower, she heard Zhang Yuan’s voice.
"Captain, where is your location now? We can’t find you, and the members are worried."
Standing on the vast snowland, Jin Xuyan turned to his fiancée and replied, "Ah Zhi and I will return in a few days. You and the members should focus on completing your mission. I will leave them to you."
Zhang Yuan was used to not asking unnecessary questions. After receiving the orders, he nodded. "Understood."
After he finished speaking, Jin Xuyan hung up the call. Jiao Lizhi held his hand, and the two of them entered the space. Although they were able to use their abilities’ energy to dispel the cold, it would drain their energy in the long term.
As soon as they appeared inside, Jiang Ziyi shouted from the house, "Fengyan, Xuyan, lunch is ready. Come over and eat first!"
In the past few days, they had grown used to how their prisoner behaved like a mother hen. Every day, he was busy in the kitchen, trying new recipes, and insisted on them trying his cooking.
When they reached the dining room, they saw that the table was full of dishes. Taking her seat, Jiao Lizhi asked, "Why did you suddenly become so interested in cooking?"
Jiang Ziyi placed a set of utensils in front of her while replying, "Didn’t you tell me to cook if I’m bored?"
"So obedient? If I told you to die, would you die?" Jiao Lizhi asked.
Hearing her sharp words, Jiang Ziyi was not angry. He laughed and said casually, "I’m afraid that if one day I really die, you will cry your eyes blind. So it’s better for me to keep my life and spare you from becoming blind."
Jiao Lizhi snorted at his words and didn’t take it seriously. But Jin Xuyan stared at Jiang Ziyi and felt that he was hinting at something. He observed him for a long time but didn’t find anything strange, so he could only push the matter to the back of his mind for now.
While they were eating, Jiang Ziyi suddenly asked, "It has been a few days now. Both of you should have fully recovered. When do you plan to go back?"
Raising his eyebrows, Jin Xuyan said, "You talk as if you know where we are."
"I’m not blind or stupid. Every time both of you go out and come back, your clothes are covered in snow. When I came to this place, it was summer. Even if we enter the winter season, Lin’an usually only snows for a few days."
"You don’t have to worry about where we are. Just spend your time cooking if you are bored," Jiao Lizhi said while tasting the dishes.
She pointed at a plate of braised innards and said, "This dish is delicious. You can make more of it."
Jiang Ziyi nodded and replied, "Okay." After a pause, he asked, "Do you want it spicier?"
