Chapter 764: Teleportation Ability ( 2 )
After a moment of pause, Chen Qianxiao added, "It will take at least 15 to 18 hours for the Phantom Team to arrive. Before that, we must do our best to defend the base and hold on as long as we can."
When everyone heard this, they exchanged glances. After a long silence, Kayla Stroganova finally spoke. "Captain Chen, I’m afraid it will be almost impossible for us to stand against those creatures for so long."
Hearing this, Chen Qianxiao narrowed his eyes and asked, "You know about it?"
Kayla Stroganova nodded. "I received information yesterday from one of my people in the Capital. This group was indeed sent by Borislav, but they were borrowed from the Facility."
The moment she said this, everyone was shocked.
"Miss Stroganova, are you saying that the Great General is colluding with the Facility?" one of them asked in disbelief.
"He is not only colluding with them; he was one of the Light of Dawn Organization’s Elders. If my information is correct, he should be the Eighth Elder," Kayla Stroganova said.
"Impossible! Although the Morozov family is arrogant and domineering, they are one of the noble bloodline families. They wouldn’t betray the Empire," an elderly man said.
"It’s time for all of you to wake up and face reality. If he were as loyal as you claim, he wouldn’t have ordered his elite team to burn down the entire Lunar City, disregarding the lives and deaths of people of our Empire. In his eyes, human lives were nothing," Andrei Stroganova said coldly.
Hearing this, even those who did not want to believe it could not refute his words.
Seeing that the discussion had gone off-topic, Chen Qianfeng said, "You can continue debating this after we deal with the immediate danger."
"Right now, the most important thing is to think of a way to defend against the attack. If there is no solution, we can only evacuate everyone as soon as possible."
Hearing this, everyone fell silent and began to think. After five minutes, no one spoke. Judging from their expressions, Chen Qianfeng knew they had no viable ideas.
He shook his head and said, "Since none of you have a solution, we’ll activate the Lin’an City Base’s emergency protocol first."
"Captain Chen, please tell us more about this protocol," Lustin Volkov said.
Chen Qianfeng took a map from his pocket and spread it across the table. It was a detailed map of Lunar City and the Lunar Base.
When everyone saw the map, shock and surprise flashed in their eyes. The Silver Snake Team had only stayed here briefly, yet they had obtained such a detailed defense map. If they harbored ill intentions, destroying the base would have been effortless.
Noticing their wariness, Chen Qianfeng ignored it. He pointed at several buildings on the map and said, "Move the ordinary people into these buildings first."
"My team has already inspected them. There are underground bunkers with enough space for 20,000 people. These bunkers were built to withstand nuclear attacks, so they are sturdy enough to defend against a level five zombie’s assault."
"For everyone’s safety, the rooms will be divided by gender. Families who registered together can stay in smaller private rooms. Individuals will be assigned to larger shared rooms."
"My team will assist with transporting supplies and evacuating the survivors. Each underground bunker has complete facilities and solar-powered generators to run ventilation and central heating. As long as there is enough water and proper hygiene is maintained, health issues won’t be a problem."
"As for the guards, the ordinary ones will stay with the survivors to maintain order. Guards with abilities will be stationed at the first and second walls. My team will be stationed at the third wall, together with the Lunar Base’s ability-users."
After finishing, he looked at everyone and asked, "Are there any questions?"
"Captain Chen, if what you said is true, even with all of the ability-users joining hands, the chance for us to take down those creatures would be very low," the Head Guard said with a frown.
Chen Qianfeng nodded and replied, "With the current power of the base guards, it is indeed impossible for them to fight against level-five creatures. But our main goal is not to win the battle. We are buying time and waiting for our reinforcements."
"Even so, with the disparity in strength, we won’t be able to withstand their attacks for long," Andrei Stroganova said with a frown.
"That’s why the low-level ability-users and guards will be responsible for killing the zombies and defending the wall. As for level-three and level-four ability-users, they will provide protection and assist the low-level ones," Chen Qianxiao explained.
"Then what about the level-five creatures?" Kayla Stroganova asked.
"My team will handle them," Chen Qianxiao replied firmly.
When everyone heard his words, they looked at him skeptically.
"Captain Chen, I heard that the average level of your team members is level three. Can you handle those things?" Lustin Volkov asked with a hint of worry.
"Commander Volkov, you can rest assured. Even if my team can’t kill them, we can at least hold them back and buy time for the Phantom Team to come," Chen Qianxiao said with a smile.
Although his team was mostly at level three and only had five level-four ability-users, they were not far behind the Phantom Team. Their A-rank was not obtained through the sheer number of members but through their combat abilities and individual, unique capabilities.
Meeting his gaze, everyone felt relief for an unknown reason.
After a moment of silence, Lustin Volkov finally said, "Andrei, you will be responsible for arranging the troops. Kayla will be responsible for supply distribution."
"Everyone, please follow Captain Chen’s instructions and coordinate with the Silver Snake Team. As long as we work together, we will be able to survive this disaster."
As soon as he finished speaking, everyone stood up, gave a salute, and replied in unison, "Understood."
When the meeting was adjourned, Chen Qianfeng went to Lustin Volkov’s office to discuss the details with the officers.
