Chapter 1918: Chaotic Battlefield II
Chapter 1918: Chaotic Battlefield II
The Gnome was not the only one who was shocked by the sight of the third Ninth stage Gnome suffering such a loss, Chris had his eyes on the outcome of this attack even though he was besieged, so seeing that Grey was not harmed and was standing behind the duo, he was curious what got hit, and now that he saw the miserable sight of the Gnome, he could already figure out what happened.
‘So he can switch places with others, interesting.’ A smile crept up on Chris’s face at the thought of this ability of Grey’s. It was one thing to be able to change one’s position at will, however, being able to switch places with an ally or enemy in such a chaotic battlefield is definitely cheating.
A plan came up in his mind at the thought of the possible chaos himself and Grey could cause with this ability of Grey’s.
Bang!
He took an attack that shook his innards, almost causing him to cough up a mouthful of blood. This brought him back to his senses, focusing on the fight, he used his light element to flash through the battlefield, dodging the attacks of his opponents as he steadily moved closer to where Grey was fighting.
On Grey’s end, faced with the pronged attack of the Gnome and the Puppet, he made use of his gravitational force field, slowing down the speed of the Gnome. He knew the effect of his gravitational force field would not be as significant as when fighting weaker opponents, but it was enough for him to create enough time for him to retreat, evading what could have been a fatal attack at the last second.
The Gnome noticed the drop in his speed, and before he could shake off the strange energy that slowed him down, Grey had dodged the attack. He did not stop with this failed attempt, turning and going after Grey who was retreating.
The Puppet by his side was a little slower, maybe due to it not being conscious, the gravitational force field had more effect on it, slowing it down.
Grey took advantage of the opportunity he created and two arrays wrapped both his wrists, causing two Snakes made from blue flames to appear.
One of the Snakes chumped down on the Puppet that had slowed down, while the other did not go after the Gnome charging at Grey, nor did it go after the Gnome controlling the Puppet, rather, instead, it flew off in a random direction.
The Gnome controlling the Puppet was alarmed by Grey’s strange actions and followed the movement of the other Fire Snake, while his Puppet was being constricted by the other Fire Snake.
Somewhere in the battlefield.
Chris was closely being chased by two Gnomes and their Puppets, he did not have his previous speed, and blood could be seen dripping from the side of his arm. It was obvious that he had been injured during his recent clash with the Gnomes he was fighting against.
As he was flying, he noticed the Fire Snake coming his way and heaved a sigh of relief, this was not the first time this Fire Snake was appearing in the battlefield. In fact, it had not been too long since it first appeared. He knew this was one of Grey’s abilities, an improved version of Inscription. When he sparred with Grey during their reunion, he did not face these Fire Snakes, but he heard from him that he learnt it from his Grandfather.
‘I wonder if that Old man would teach me.’ Chris was also an Inscriber, so seeing Grey use an improved version of Inscription interested him. If not for the fact that Grey told him it was the secret technique of his mother’s Family, he would have gotten Grey to teach him after they caught up.
Moving in the direction of the Fire Snake, he knew it would not harm him. This was sent here to help resolve his current situation.
The Fire Snake acted like it had a mind of its own as it opened its mouth, just as it was about to bite down, Chris’s figure darted past. The Snake bit down, swallowing both Puppets who were closer to Chris.
The Gnomes were not as fast, and were lucky enough to not get caught in the mouth of this Fire Snake. They controlled their Puppets to try to destroy the Fire Snake, only to discover to their shock that the Puppets had been destroyed. These were two Puppets with strength equal to Ninth stage Sovereigns, yet they were destroyed as soon as they entered the mouth of the Fire Snake. The discovery shocked the duo as they halted in their steps, staring ahead in fear.
Unknown to them, what destroyed the Puppets was not the Fire Snake, the true reason the Puppets were almost instantly destroyed was Chris who only pretended like he dodged the Snake’s mouth when in truth, he rushed into it from the side, taking the Puppets unaware who had been momentarily been cut off from their masters. The biggest disadvantage of these Puppets is that as long as the Gnome or Necromancer controlling it loses sight of it or can not sense what is around it, they would not be able to send out any useful commands. Even though the Puppet was still in their control, they could not tell what was around the Puppet, so they could not get it to act accordingly.
The short time the Puppets were caught by Grey’s Fire Snake was all it took for Chris to destroy them with the Fire Snake’s help.
On Grey’s end, after sending that Fire Snake his Teacher’s way, he was forced to face the Gnome who was still attacking relentlessly. Faced with the brutal attack of this Gnome, Grey did not shy away, knowing the other Gnome and Puppet would be out of the picture for a short time, he needed to act quickly.
His eyes glowed pale blue and the Gnome coming his way felt his mind go numb, it was as if he was frozen in a block of ice, no matter how hard he tried to move, he found it difficult.
‘Damn it!’ He knew he was in danger, a second is all it takes to end a life in their current cultivation level.
