Chapter 130 Part 1 – Not A Dream (I)

After Tong Yi said “you can’t ignore me” and “you absolutely can’t avoid me either,” Jiang Li was clearly stunned. She was admittedly a bit slow when it came to romantic feelings, mostly because she had too many admirers—many of whom were very direct about it.

Tong Yi had never confessed to her before—not even dropped a hint—so of course she’d never noticed anything. But now, with him making such a request before answering the question, and looking at her so intently, as if his eyes held no one else but her…

The answer was already obvious: the girl Tong Yi likes… is her.

He’d set those two conditions so that, whether he won or lost, they could still remain friends—even if she rejected him.

But when had this guy started feeling this way? She hadn’t noticed at all.

As for her own feelings… what were they, anyway? She always felt relaxed and happy around Tong Yi, but was that just friendship, or something more?

She hadn’t had a drop to drink tonight, yet her mind felt strangely sluggish. She didn’t know whether she should agree to Tong Yi’s conditions or not.

Wang Simin, seeing Jiang Li spaced out, laughed loudly, “I think you shouldn’t agree to Tong Yi’s terms. He clearly lost the game, and now he’s setting conditions for you? We can’t let him off that easy!”

Lin Zhao also chimed in to help diffuse the tension. “Exactly. He can choose not to answer. If he doesn’t, just drink—it’s not a big deal.”

Jiang Li didn’t respond to either of them. After hesitating for a few seconds, she silently pulled back the hand that had been holding down Tong Yi’s.

The moment she let go, Tong Yi lifted the glass and downed it without hesitation. Setting the glass back on the table, he looked at Jiang Li with a smile. “The taste isn’t bad… but I don’t think you’d like it.”

Jiang Li: “…”

Before they started playing Truth or Dare, someone had pre-poured a few types of drinks—beer, baijiu, red wine—so they could choose easily during the game.

Tong Yi had chosen baijiu all three times. After three shots, his face was starting to flush, his gaze growing hazy, and his tone of voice had shifted slightly from usual.

Sitting right next to him, Jiang Li naturally noticed something was off. She guessed he was starting to feel the effects of the alcohol. Since she hadn’t agreed to his conditions, Tong Yi had chosen to drink without hesitation. Was he worried that if he confessed and got rejected, she wouldn’t talk to him anymore?

After a moment of hesitation, Jiang Li stood up from the couch with a smile. “You all keep playing. I’m stepping out for a bit.”

Seeing Tong Yi trying to follow her, she quickly pointed at the couch. “Stay here and rest a bit. I’ll be back soon.”

Tong Yi stayed quiet for a few seconds, then finally nodded. “Okay.” Though he really wanted to go with her, he was afraid she would be angry.

After Jiang Li left, everyone exchanged looks. Wang Simin nudged Qin Zheng with her elbow. “That’s quite a bombastic question you asked!”

Qin Zheng: “…”

Honestly, it wasn’t really his fault. Tong Yi hadn’t wanted to answer that question from the start and chose to drink. If Jiang Li hadn’t stopped him, this whole situation would’ve passed quickly.

But Jiang Li’s unexpected action had probably been instinctive. If he had to guess, she definitely had some feelings for Tong Yi. That’s why she’d wanted to find out who the girl he liked was.

Once she realized it was her, she let him drink after all—probably because she wasn’t sure how to respond to his feelings yet.

From Qin Zheng’s perspective, Jiang Li had always been decisive and straightforward. When she rejected someone, she never left room for doubt. But now, she was hesitating. That meant she was genuinely considering whether to accept Tong Yi.

So even though Tong Yi didn’t get a chance to confess directly, he had already surpassed all her other admirers.

The group continued playing, while Tong Yi sat alone on the couch, spacing out. The baijiu began to hit him harder, making his eyes more dazed.

Jiang Xiao Li hadn’t agreed to his request and had left the room alone, even telling him not to follow. Did that mean… she would distance herself from him, as she had from all her other admirers?

He used to think it was satisfying whenever Jiang Xiao Li shut a guy down or pushed them away. But now that it was happening to him…

If he’d known this would be the result, he wouldn’t have played that stupid game at all. What a pointless waste of time!

Tong Yi picked up another glass from the table and downed a few more drinks. His head started to feel heavy, and all he wanted to do was sleep. He slumped back on the couch, quickly slipping into a dazed, half-conscious state. He didn’t know how long he’d been like that when he felt someone tugging at his sleeve.

He opened his eyes slightly and saw Jiang Xiao Li sitting beside him, holding a glass.

“Drink this water before you sleep.”

Her voice was especially gentle, making him feel like it wasn’t real at all.

Wasn’t she ignoring him? This had to be a dream—just like every other time he dreamed of Jiang Xiao Li, she was always kind to him.

Only, the dream was more appropriate this time; he’d just gotten drunk, and here she was, bringing him a glass of water.

When Jiang Li saw him staring blankly and not taking the glass, she directly brought it to his lips. “Drinking some warm water after alcohol can help with the headache. If you don’t drink this obediently, I’m going to hit you.”

Tong Yi reached out and gently pinched her cheek. “Weren’t you just being sweet? Why the sudden switch? Still… this does feel more realistic.”

Jiang Li: “…”

‘What nonsense is this guy spouting? And he actually dares to pinch my face?!’

‘A coward who didn’t even have the courage to confess—who needed to make demands before answering a truth-or-dare question—is now bold enough to pinch my face?!’

‘Ha! Does he have split personalities or what?’

Jiang Li was so stunned she forgot to react. This “very gentle” look of hers only made Tong Yi more certain that he was dreaming. Only, this dream felt more vivid than any he’d had before. He slowly drank the water, then leaned close to her ear and whispered, “Jiang Xiao Li, your hand smells so nice.”

Jiang Li: “…”

‘Is this guy really drunk, or just using alcohol as an excuse to act out? Either way, he needed to be taught a good lesson—otherwise, he’d only get bolder in the future!’

But before she could act, Tong Yi suddenly grabbed her arm and pulled her toward him. Along with the scent of alcohol came the warmth of his body.

He placed a soft kiss—as light as a feather—on her forehead, then wrapped her in his arms, resting his chin gently against her forehead.

In an instant, Jiang Li’s mind went completely blank. Her cheeks flushed with heat, and it felt like her soul had left her body.

Tong Yi took the glass from her hand and set it on the table. Then, interlacing their fingers, he whispered in her ear, “Jiang Xiao Li, the girl I like is you. It’s always been you. You must not ignore me.”
