After Transmigrating into a Cannon Fodder Real Daughter, the Plot Changes

Chapter 152 Part 1 – Aren’t You Good At Fighting (I)

Chapter 152 Part 1 – Aren’t You Good At Fighting (I)

When she heard the words “walking the dog,” Jiang Li already had a bad feeling. And when she heard “you don’t need to hold its paw,” she instantly knew her hunch had been spot on.

Jiang Li glanced around and, sure enough, saw Feng Bai standing not far away. But he wasn’t looking at her—he was glaring at Tong Yi with a face full of anger.

Jiang Li immediately yanked her hand back. After hanging up the phone, she sprinted toward Feng Bai as fast as she could.

“Third Brother, why are you here all of a sudden? Did you come especially to see me?”

There was a hint of embarrassment in Jiang Li’s expression. She was clearly an adult now, so it wasn’t like it was some early dating, but for some reason, she still felt inexplicably guilty.

But Feng Bai’s eyes remained fixed on Tong Yi, seemingly having no intention of answering her. Jiang Li immediately grabbed his arm and shook it, dragging out her voice to call, “Third Bro~ther~.”

Feng Bai finally took his eyes off Tong Yi. He looked down at Jiang Li, hesitated several times before finally asking, “Why… did you fall for Tong Yi, of all people?”

Jiang Li: …

It just… happened. There wasn’t any special reason, really!

Tong Yi had shown slight surprise the moment he saw Feng Bai, but quickly returned to his usual calm. When Jiang Li was at a loss for how to answer Feng Bai’s question, he stepped forward and greeted him politely, “Hello, Third Brother.”

Feng Bai’s eyes widened in disbelief, and he nearly jumped on the spot. “Who are you calling ‘Third Brother’? Don’t call me that!”

Tong Yi replied calmly, “Alright, I’ll change how I address you next time.”

Feng Bai: “…”

He really wanted to punch Tong Yi right now. This guy was infuriating!

Back when he’d sent Xiao Jiang Li to university, he’d been worried she’d be taken advantage of. He’d even specially asked Tong Yi to keep an eye on her, and to let him know right away if anything seemed off.

Back then, when Tong Xu had been interested in Xiao Jiang Li, he had even teamed up with Tong Yi to cause trouble for that guy. Weren’t they all supposed to be on the same side?

And what did Tong Yi do with that trust? Betrayal, a total betrayal!

In Feng Bai’s eyes, no one was worthy of Xiao Jiang Li. Tong Xu didn’t even need to be mentioned, and Qin Zheng fell short too. As for this bastard Tong Yi… he definitely wasn’t good enough!

Because this bastard wasn’t even sincere! Clearly liking Xiao Jiang Li all along but had never shown it, and even dragged him in as a pawn when detecting a rival!

And the worst part? He’d actually fallen for it. Just thinking about it made him feel embarrassed.

Seeing Feng Bai’s gloomy expression, Jiang Li spoke softly, “Third Brother, have you had dinner yet? How about I take you to our cafeteria? We’ve got lots of great snacks. I know you’ll like them!”

Feng Bai took a deep breath before forcing a smile. “I’ve already eaten. I came here today just to talk to Tong Yi about a project. You go back to your dorm—no need to mind me.”

Jiang Li: “…”

This definitely didn’t look like a business discussion—more like he wanted to throw punches.

But Feng Bai wasn’t exactly a fighter. She could easily overpower him herself, and Tong Yi seemed to be about on her level in terms of combat skills. She wasn’t worried he’d beat Tong Yi into a pulp.

Tong Yi, naturally, could tell Feng Bai was on the verge of exploding. He turned to Jiang Li and said softly, “Go back. I’ll talk with your Third Brother alone.”

Jiang Li immediately pulled him aside. “Even if my Third Brother tries to hit you, you’re not allowed to fight back seriously, or I won’t forgive you.”

She’d fought Tong Yi a few times before and knew what he was capable of. It would be easy for him to defend himself without hurting Feng Bai.

Tong Yi nodded right away and whispered back, “Don’t worry, I’ll return your Third Brother safe and sound.”

Seeing them whispering right in front of his face, Feng Bai finally lost his patience. He stepped forward and dragged Tong Yi away. “Whatever you two have to say, say it later! We men got more important things to talk about.”

Watching Tong Yi get pulled away, Jiang Li turned and entered the campus gate. She knew Feng Bai must be in a foul mood, and if she insisted on following, it would only make things more awkward.

Better to let the two of them talk first. If things fell apart, she could figure out how to patch things up later.

Jiang Li returned to the dorm feeling heavy-hearted. As soon as she walked in, Wen Wan came bouncing over, “You and Tong Yi are dating now?”

Jiang Li looked surprised. “Wow, you’re really up to date.”

Wen Wan grinned. “It’s not me, it’s the forum. Someone already posted a photo of you two holding hands.”

She pulled up the school forum on her phone and handed it over. “See for yourself.”

Seeing the headline: [Goddess Jiang Confirmed Dating], Jiang Li burst out laughing. “Do these guys have nothing better to do? That was fast.”

Wen Wan giggled. “The photo was taken at the gate. Even if you came straight back to the dorm right after being spotted, that’s still at least ten minutes. Plenty of time for dozens of comments.”

Jiang Li shrugged. “Let them talk. I wasn’t planning on hiding the relationship anyway.”

Since she had agreed to be Tong Yi’s girlfriend, she had no intention of being secretive about it. That just wasn’t her style.

Wen Wan patted her on the shoulder. “Can’t blame people for gossiping. You’re simply too amazing, so people naturally pay attention to what you’re doing.”

Jiang Li had once made it to the finals of the IMO and won gold. Later, her college examination scores were the highest across nine provinces. From the moment she enrolled, she was already a hot topic.

More than half a year had passed, and the buzz around her had started to fade. But then news came out that she had published a paper in a SCI journal, and all eyes were back on her again.

It’s not like no undergrads had ever published in SCI before, but someone doing it in their first year? That was nearly unheard of. Of course people were going to pay attention.

There were some skeptics, of course. Some claimed she was just riding on her famous uncle’s coattails, and others said maybe Feng Qi had ghostwritten the paper to boost her reputation.

But those voices were quickly drowned out by ridicule. Most people saw them as just being jealous. Even the faculty stepped in and clarified: Jiang Li regularly used the campus labs, and all her mentors and professors knew how capable she was. The paper definitely reflected her real level.

With the faculty making a public statement like that, the gossip naturally died down. Even if a few doubters remained, no one dared voice it openly anymore.

In short, Jiang Li was now the most impressive person in the entire campus—the title “Goddess Jiang” was well and truly deserved.

Previously, when Tong Yi frequented the campus to see Jiang Li, there had already been a lot of speculation that the two were dating, but since neither of them had ever confirmed it, no one could be sure.

Now that a photo of Jiang Li and Tong Yi holding hands had been posted online, it was undeniable proof. Naturally, those who liked gossip gathered to watch the drama unfold and happily left comments under the post to offer their blessings.

Since Tong Yi was also one of the top scorers in entrance exams, and he and Jiang Li had been classmates in junior high, many people saw their relationship as a story straight out of a novel.

Wen Wan slowly scrolled through the forum on her phone and couldn’t help but laugh. “Someone even said you and Tong Yi were dating back in junior high. Isn’t that just ridiculous?”

Jiang Li replied helplessly, “If you know it’s ridiculous, why are you still reading it?”

Wen Wan put away her phone. “Alright, I’ll stop. Who needs a forum when I’m having this VVIP view at the hottest gossip? No one knows more insider info than me.”

Zhang Rongrong had been sitting on her bed playing with her phone. Upon hearing their conversation, she couldn’t help poking her head out and saying, “I think you two should scroll through the rest of the thread.”

Wen Wan looked puzzled. “Is someone saying bad things?”

Last semester, she had really disliked Zhang Rongrong, mainly because the latter had always been sarcastic and particularly unpleasant.

But ever since the new semester started, Zhang Rongrong’s personality seemed to have changed quite a bit. She rarely argued with people anymore, and her tone had softened a lot.

One time, when Wen Wan returned to the dorm, she saw Zhang Rongrong deeply engrossed in a book. Out of curiosity, she took a glance and realized it was a book about developing emotional intelligence.

She’d been so shocked her eyes went wide. Zhang Rongrong had noticed and quickly tucked the book away with a flushed face, muttering, “Someone gave it to me. I’m just flipping through it.”

Wen Wan had thought back then—whoever gave her that book was seriously impressive. And the surprising part? Zhang Rongrong had actually taken it seriously.

From that day on, Wen Wan felt Zhang Rongrong wasn’t as annoying as before—her words didn’t sting as much, and her actions seemed less grating. She wasn’t sure if it was just psychological, though.

So, when Zhang Rongrong suggested they check the later comments, Wen Wan didn’t think she was being sarcastic. Instead, she began to suspect something unpleasant had been said.

As Wen Wan looked at her, Zhang Rongrong showed a hesitant expression, clearly wanting to speak but not knowing how to start.

Jiang Li didn’t bother with her. She pulled out her phone, opened the forum, and found the post. She started scrolling through the comments.

After turning to the second page, she saw that someone had posted another photo. This time, it wasn’t just her and Tong Yi—it also featured her third brother, Feng Bai, with a less-than-pleasant expression.

In the photo, she was clutching her third brother’s arm with a pitiful look on her face, while Feng Bai’s eyes were locked onto Tong Yi, his expression looking like he wanted to kill him.

Looking at the picture, Jiang Li thought Feng Bai’s expression was pretty intimidating. Anyone who didn’t know him would probably assume he was impossible to get along with.

Wen Wan also saw the photo and looked puzzled. “Why does the guy in this photo look so familiar?”

Jiang Li smiled. “You’ve met him in person. Don’t you remember?”

Wen Wan looked surprised. “Really? I do feel like he looks familiar, but I just can’t place where I’ve seen him.”

“He sent me to the dorm at the beginning of the school year. He even spoke with you. You forgot already?”

Wen Wan thought hard, then her eyes widened in shock. “He’s your second brother?!”

Jiang Li raised an eyebrow. “Why do you think he’s my second brother?”

Wen Wan gave a smug look. “Your second and third brothers are twins, so they look almost exactly the same, but your third brother is super lively, like a little kid. This guy obviously isn’t like that, so he must be your second brother.”

Jiang Li grinned. “Congratulations—wrong analysis. That’s my third brother in the photo, no doubt about it.”
