Chapter 155 Part 2 – Pray For The Best (II)
Feng Qi didn’t bother with pleasantries. After a long silence, he asked, “When did it start?”
Tong Yi knew he was referring to the relationship with Jiang Li and answered promptly, “Five days ago.”
Feng Qi gave a cold snort. “I’m not asking about the forum post.”
Tong Yi replied honestly, “We really did get together five days ago. The photo in the post was taken on our first day together. I swear I’m not lying to you.”
Feng Qi asked again, “So how long were you planning on keeping it from me?”
There was a trace of bitterness in his voice. After all, this was the niece he had raised like a precious treasure. Now she’d been taken away by some stinky brat, and to make it worse, had teamed up with that same brat to keep it secret from him. To put it bluntly, he was seriously considering whether to give in to the impulse and break the brat’s legs.
Tong Yi responded immediately, “We weren’t trying to keep it a secret. Jiang Xiao Li and I had already agreed that during the Qingming Festival, when we go back home to visit the ancestral grave, we’d tell you about the relationship in person.”
Feng Qi’s expression softened a little, though his tone remained sharp. “And your word is trustworthy?”
Tong Yi quickly pulled out his phone. “I swear I’m not lying. We discussed this the day we got together. If you don’t believe me, you can read our chat history.”
As he spoke, he opened the chat with Jiang Li. But before he could even search through it, Jiang Li sent him several messages in a row:
[Hey, are you a dog?!]
[You actually left two hickeys on my neck!]
[If Wen Wan hadn’t pointed it out, I wouldn’t have noticed!]
[Do you know how much concealer I had to put on to cover it?]
[If you do that again, I’m definitely going to beat you up!]
Tong Yi: “…”
Newly minted couples are always clingy with each other, and he and Jiang Xiao Li were no exception.
He didn’t have class during the last period this afternoon, so he went to Jiang Xiao Li’s place to cook. When she got home from class, dinner was ready.
After dinner, they curled up on the couch to watch an old movie. Came romantic scenes, he couldn’t help getting in the mood himself and ended up pinning Jiang Xiao Li to the couch and kissing her for a long time.
When he saw Jiang Xiao Li’s watery eyes, he couldn’t help but let his lips wander downward. As for whether he left any marks, he honestly wasn’t sure.
But if Jiang Xiao Li said there were marks, then there definitely were.
If Third Master Feng weren’t here, he would’ve immediately called Jiang Xiao Li to comfort her properly.
Unfortunately…
Tong Yi cautiously met Feng Qi’s eyes and saw that his face had already darkened like the bottom of a scorched pot. He instantly didn’t dare say another word.
Had he known Jiang Xiao Li would send messages like that, he never would’ve taken out his phone and handed it over to her uncle!
He still wanted to live, alright!
Even though he had only glanced briefly at Tong Yi’s phone, Feng Qi was still livid. He could feel his temples throbbing.
After seeing that photo on the forum, he already wanted to break this brat’s legs for stealing away his Xiao Lizi.
Now, after seeing the content in that chat box, he was starting to think that breaking the brat’s third leg might be more effective.
Feng Qi looked at Tong Yi coldly. “What did you do to her?”
Tong Yi immediately explained, “Just kissing… I didn’t… didn’t go any further. I’ll cherish her forever—I swear.”
Feng Qi let out a cold scoff. “And how much is your oath worth?”
Tong Yi looked him straight in the eyes. “I’ll transfer all my assets to Jiang Xiao Li. If I ever do anything to hurt her, you can make me walk away with nothing.”
Feng Qi replied indifferently, “You think I care about that measly bit of money?”
Tong Yi: “…”
Aside from a sincere heart and that measly bit of money, he didn’t have much else to offer…
While Tong Yi was still frozen, Feng Qi snatched his phone, typed a few characters in the chat search bar, and opened the result. When he saw they really had planned to confess to him during Qingming Festival, his expression finally softened a little.
He backed out of the search and, seeing the full QWERTY keyboard on the screen, showed an expression of disgust. After quickly switching it to the nine-grid layout, he began typing a message.
[In your heart, who is more important, me or your third uncle?]
Tong Yi: “…”
When he saw Third Master Feng send that message, he wasn’t even sure whether to laugh or cry.
Was this absurdly childish man really the Third Master Feng?
No need to send such a text. He didn’t even have to guess—of course, Jiang Xiao Li would choose her uncle!
Even if she felt both were equally important, there was no way she’d say it in a way that would feed his ego.
About a minute after Feng Qi sent the message from Tong Yi’s phone, a reply came in from Jiang Li.
[????]
[Are you trying to change the subject?]
[Of course my uncle is more important! If you and he fell into the water at the same time, I’d save him without hesitation.]
Feng Qi: “…”
Actually, he was pretty good at swimming and didn’t actually need Xiao Lizi to save him.
But if she insisted on saving him, well… he supposed he could play along.
After a few seconds of thought, Feng Qi typed another message.
[What would you do if I had a conflict with your uncle?]
Less than ten seconds after the message was sent, Jiang Li’s reply popped up.
[Then I can only comfort my uncle first]
[Also, why are you having a conflict with my uncle?]
[Something’s off about your attitude today]
Seeing the replies, Feng Qi’s lips curled up without him realizing. He handed the phone back to Tong Yi and said, “Don’t let her know I sent those two texts.”
Tong Yi: “…”
Third Master Feng actually had the nerve to do it, but not to own up to it?
That was… surprisingly unexpected.
Feng Qi looked at him and finally stated the reason for his visit. “Since Xiao Lizi has chosen you, I won’t interfere in your relationship. But if you dare do anything to hurt her, you know exactly what the consequences will be.”
Tong Yi immediately nodded. “Don’t worry, Uncle, I swear I’ll—”
Feng Qi frowned and cut him off. “Who are you calling uncle?”
Tong Yi explained softly, “You’re not my uncle yet, technically… but since I’m going to be Jiang Xiao Li’s man sooner or later, that means you’ll be my uncle sooner or later too.”
Feng Qi found this logic rather novel. He raised an eyebrow and asked, “You’re her man?”
Tong Yi nodded right away. “Yes. Once Jiang Xiao Li agrees to marry me, I’ll be hers entirely. You can consider it like gaining a son.”
Feng Qi: “…”
The words were outrageously shameless, yet somehow… not completely off-putting.
He looked at Tong Yi with a half-smile. “So you’re planning to marry into our family?”
Though Feng Qi had no interest in love or marriage himself, he still understood that being a live-in son-in-law wasn’t exactly flattering. Any man with pride wouldn’t take that lightly.
Take that scumbag Jiang Huai, for example. He had milked the Feng family for all it was worth, but the second someone called him a “phoenix man,” let alone suggested he was a live-in son-in-law, he’d explode.

Feng Qi figured Tong Yi would squirm at that phrasing. Let’s see how he handles this!
But to his surprise, Tong Yi didn’t seem the least bit uncomfortable. He immediately responded, “As long as Jiang Xiao Li’s willing, I’ve got no problem with it.”
Feng Qi: “…”
The moment Tong Yi heard the word “marry into her family,” he began dreaming about the future: “If Jiang Xiao Li wants kids, they can take her last name. And if she wants them to take the Feng surname, I’m fine with that too.”
Feng Qi couldn’t take it anymore. “Can you shut up?”
Tong Yi clamped his mouth shut immediately, more obedient than an elementary schooler in class.
Feng Qi stared at him blankly. “The two of you haven’t even made it past step one, and you’re already dreaming this big?”
He finally understood how Xiao Lizi got duped by this kid.
A young man, wealthy in his own right, with the kind of face that could launch an acting career, and a mouth that could talk its way out of anything—Xiao Lizi was still too innocent. How could she possibly stand up to that?
Before Feng Qi left Beijing, he gave Tong Yi one last look, still filled with disdain. “Do you have any idea how badly I want to beat you up right now?”
Tong Yi lowered his posture humbly. “If hitting me would make you feel better, then you can—”
Feng Qi snorted coldly. “Do I look like Feng Bai to you? Beat you up just so you can run to Xiao Lizi and act pitiful?”
Tong Yi: “…”
Right. That really does sound like something only Feng Bai would do.
…
Feng Bai had been swamped with work lately.
Just days ago, he didn’t have this much on his plate, but suddenly things had exploded. Working overtime every night had become his new normal.
He’d gone to see his eldest uncle once, asking if some of his tasks could be reassigned, only to get a pat on the shoulder and a single sentence: “Those who are capable should do more.”
Feng Bai: “…”
No, he didn’t want to “do more.”
All he wanted was to lie down and relax!
But unfortunately, Feng Bai was also a very responsible person. Since he couldn’t find anyone to take over his workload, he had no choice but to power through it himself.
In stark contrast to his busyness was Tong Xu, who was so idle he was practically losing his mind.
After drawing the ire of the Feng family, Tong Bingran had suspended him. Later, after Jiang Ruo confronted Tong Bingran, he went a step further and confined Tong Xu at home.
At first, Tong Xu would still browse Jiang Li’s school forum, hoping to catch news about her. But after seeing that photo of her holding hands with Tong Yi, he never went back.
He now stayed home all day, and his subordinates had all been spoken to by his father, so they no longer listened to him. He was growing mold from inactivity.
As Qingming Festival approached, Tong Bingran finally showed some mercy and let Tong Xu out, saying he’d take him along to the ancestral rites.
Seeing his son so listless, Tong Bingran couldn’t help but complain, “You’ve really regressed. Not only are you worse than Tong Yi now, but even that airhead from the Feng family is ten times better than you!”
Tong Xu looked surprised. “Feng Bai?”
Tong Bingran shot him a glare. “Yes, Feng Bai. He’s running the IT operations for the Feng Group. Feng Yuan values him highly and is giving him more authority every day. The guy’s spinning like a top. And look at you—useless.”
Tong Xu: “…”
It wasn’t like he wanted to be idle. He just pissed off the wrong people!
But if he went back to work at the Tong Group now… surely the Feng family wouldn’t keep watching him so closely, right?
What Tong Xu didn’t know was that the Feng Bai he envied was on the verge of losing it too.
At that very moment, Feng Bai was staring at his uncle Feng Yuan in shock. “Qingming Festival is a national holiday. I want time off!”
Feng Yuan smiled cheerfully. “Once this project’s done, you’ll earn a lot. There’s even a bonus.”
Feng Bai: “…”
No, he didn’t want that much money.
All he wanted… was to lie down and relax!
