Extra 2 Part 2 – Overbearing CEO Third Master Feng (II)
Extra 2 Part 2 – Overbearing CEO Third Master Feng (II)
After delivering the quilt, Jiang Li returned to the bedroom and sat on the bed in a daze. Too much had happened today. She had many questions in her heart, but no courage to ask them.
Just now, while bringing the quilt out, she overheard Third Uncle on the phone. He told someone to ruin her father’s company and even ordered a DNA test between her father and Jiang Ruo.
The moment she heard the words “DNA test,” Jiang Li completely forgot that “bankruptcy” was an equally serious matter.
If Jiang Ruo really was her father’s biological daughter, then the way he had treated her and Jiang Ruo so differently over the years would make perfect sense.
But… did her mother know?
Probably not!
If she knew Jiang Ruo was her husband’s daughter with another woman, how could she treat her like her own?
At this moment, Jiang Li genuinely hoped Jiang Ruo was her father’s illegitimate daughter. Because only that way, those people would no longer have any justification to demand she donate a kidney to Jiang Ruo.
Jiang Li reached out and gently touched the area near her kidney, letting out a soft sigh. Even though she had already signed the organ donation agreement, she still didn’t want to give her kidney to Jiang Ruo.
In this world, very few people would willingly give up a kidney for someone unrelated, especially if that person was someone they disliked.
Jiang Li clutched her pillow and barely slept the entire night. All she could think about was: if Jiang Ruo really was her father’s illegitimate child, how would her mother react once she found out?
She didn’t feel much attachment to her father or her brother. In fact, she had often deeply resented that so-called brother. But when it came to her mother… her feelings were too complicated to untangle.
Every time she felt disappointed in her mother, her mother would show her concern and rekindle her hopes.
But every time she felt like maybe her mother cared about her after all, her mother would side with Jiang Ruo and let her down again.
Now that it seemed Jiang Ruo might really be an illegitimate daughter, Jiang Li thought about telling her mother in advance—but in the end, she gave up on the idea.
Her mother wouldn’t believe her. And Third Uncle had treated her so well. She couldn’t go around behind his back. If she did, he’d definitely be disappointed in her.
But… Third Uncle was just a doctor. If he went head-to-head with the Jiang family, wouldn’t he be at a disadvantage?
Jiang Li’s thoughts ran wild all night. Just when she finally started to feel a little drowsy, she was woken up by a knock on the door.
She slipped on the oversized slippers and went to open it, only to find Feng Qi standing outside.
Several seconds passed before Jiang Li forced out a greeting: “Good morning, Uncle.”
Feng Qi noticed the heavy dark circles under her eyes and frowned slightly. “Didn’t sleep well last night?”
Jiang Li lowered her head and said nothing.
Feng Qi let out a soft sigh. “If you weren’t comfortable in my room, you should’ve told me earlier. From now on, whatever you want, stand firm on it. Understand?”
Last night, he gave her his bedroom because it was more comfortable than the sofa. But he overlooked the fact that Xiao Lizi might not be able to sleep well in someone else’s room. Since she hadn’t refused too firmly, he had simply assumed she was being polite.
He was used to dealing with the Xiao Lizi from the other world—a girl who never wronged herself for anyone. But this Xiao Lizi…
Feng Qi quietly told himself he needed to change how he interacted with this niece.
Because the girl in front of him was no longer the one who used to pout, cling to him, and act cute until she got her way.
When Feng Qi went to the kitchen to bring breakfast, Jiang Li immediately went over to help. Once the dishes were set on the table, he quickly noticed that she tried a little bit of everything.
“There’s no need to be polite with your uncle. Just eat what you like,” Feng Qi said.
Jiang Li immediately explained in a small voice, “I’m not picky with food.”
Feng Qi: “…”
Xiao Lizi had always insisted she wasn’t picky, but everyone has their preferences. After years of being around her, he knew Xiao Lizi’s food preferences very well.
This morning, he made four dishes: two were her favorites, and the other two were ones he preferred but she didn’t really like.
But she didn’t show the slightest sign of food preference. And the few slices of pear he had cut and arranged on the fruit plate, she hadn’t touched a single one.
After a long silence, Feng Qi picked up a piece of pear from the plate, took a bite, and said softly, “The pear tastes pretty good.”
But his niece still didn’t make a move to eat the pears, instead looking at him with an expression as if she wanted to speak but didn’t dare to.
“What is it?” Feng Qi asked gently.
Jiang Li hesitated for a few seconds before softly saying, “Mom used to say that pears are cold in nature… eating too many can harm the spleen and stomach.”
Feng Qi: “…”
Pears are cold in nature; eating too many harms the spleen and stomach.
How familiar those words were.
In the other world, when he discovered Xiao Lizi especially loved pears, he’d once told her the same thing. But she had brushed it off, saying she knew her limits—and had even made a face at him.
Seeing Feng Qi fall silent, Jiang Li instantly panicked a little and carefully added, “That’s just what Mom said, but you’re a doctor. You must know better.”
Feng Qi came back to his senses and replied gently, “She wasn’t wrong. But eating a small amount is fine.”
Jiang Li immediately picked up the smallest slice of pear and popped it into her mouth. After finishing it, she said softly, “Thank you, Uncle.”
Feng Qi suddenly stood up. The sound of the chair scraping against the tile floor was harsh. When he saw Jiang Li flinch in fright, he realized he had lost control.
He took five seconds to calm down, then spoke with a much gentler tone: “Finish your breakfast. I have something to take care of.”
After leaving the dining room, Feng Qi went straight to the bathroom. He splashed several handfuls of cold water on his face but didn’t bother drying off. Instead, he went to the study, opened his computer, and downloaded the files Assistant Kong had sent.
After reading through all the materials, Feng Qi finally confirmed the suspicion that had been lingering in his heart.
The girl in the living room… was not Xiao Lizi.
With Xiao Lizi’s personality, she wouldn’t let the Jiang family bully her without fighting back. She wouldn’t call Feng Yun “Mom.” And she definitely wouldn’t fall apart academically just because she struggled to adapt to a new environment.
In that moment, memories of being with his Xiao Lizi surfaced in Feng Qi’s mind.
She had once asked him: if it turned out she wasn’t actually related to him by blood, and the one who was related to him was an ordinary girl, would he mind changing nieces?
Before Feng Qi came to this parallel world, she had told him she dreamed of another girl named Jiang Li, who was being forced by the Jiang family to donate her kidney.
But at the time, he hadn’t thought much of it. He had assumed she was just still haunted by psychological trauma.
When he arrived in this parallel world, Feng Qi had thought all of this was something Xiao Lizi had experienced in a dream—or perhaps something from her past life.
But it wasn’t until now that Feng Qi finally understood: the Jiang Li in this world, though related to him by blood, was not Xiao Lizi.
Still, she truly was his niece; the sensitive, self-conscious, ordinary girl Xiao Lizi had once spoken of. She and he were connected by blood.
Feng Qi didn’t want to replace Xiao Lizi, but he didn’t mind adding another niece.
Once he came to terms with that, Feng Qi returned to the dining room. Seeing Jiang Li looking at him nervously, he asked in a calm voice, “Is there something you want to say?”
Jiang Li hesitated for a long time before finally looking at him with hopeful eyes.
“Third Uncle, I… can I stay with you from now on? I won’t cost much. I’m now in my first year of college, and the semester is almost over. In two more years, I’ll be able to start working and earn my own money. I’ll repay you. I… I’ll also take care of you when you’re old.”
She didn’t want to go back to the Jiang family. She didn’t want to give up her kidney to Jiang Ruo.
If Third Uncle was willing to take her in… maybe she could escape that fate.
Feng Qi: “…”
Thirty-three isn’t that old, is it? But for some reason, both nieces seemed to want to take care of him in his old age.
Feng Qi looked at her and asked, “Do I look old?”
Jiang Li immediately shook her head. “No! Third Uncle’s not old, I just… I…”
Feng Qi let out a small laugh and said helplessly, “Were you going to say, by the time I’m old, you’ll be retired too, and then we’ll travel the world together and grow old in style?”
Jiang Li: “…”
She really had just wanted to express her gratitude. That whole “taking care of you when you’re old” part… she’d just said it in the moment.
But the kind of life he described actually sounded kind of nice.
Still, she was only a vocational college student. After graduation, she probably wouldn’t find a great job. Saving enough money to travel the world before retiring… wouldn’t be easy.
But when she saw the hopeful look in Third Uncle’s eyes, she couldn’t help but nod. “Yeah. I’ll work hard and earn money for both of us.”
Just as she finished speaking, her phone on the table rang. The screen displayed: “Dad.”
Jiang Li hesitated, unsure whether to answer.
Feng Qi said gently, “Go ahead. Put it on speaker.”
His voice had an oddly calming effect. As soon as she heard it, Jiang Li felt a strange sense of peace. Once she answered the call, Jiang Huai’s resentful voice immediately blasted through the speaker: “What on earth did you say to Feng Qi to make him suppress all of my companies like this? You ungrateful little wretch! How dare you—”
Jiang Li trembled all over, unable to get a single word out in response. Because her father was always like this: once he had decided something, he would never listen to her explanations.
Feng Qi let out a cold laugh. “You haven’t gone bankrupt yet. What are you panicking for?”
Jiang Huai: “…”
So it was true. She was with Feng Qi. And he was targeting his company because of her!
But Feng Qi was known for hating to deal with stupid people. Why would he stand up for Jiang Li?
Feng Qi didn’t hang up. Instead, he turned to look at Jiang Li and said in a warm voice, “With your Third Uncle backing you, you don’t have to be afraid of scum like Jiang Huai.”
Jiang Li: “…”
Even though Jiang Huai was her biological father, hearing Third Uncle say that made her feel… oddly satisfied.
On the other end of the line, Jiang Huai nearly ground his teeth to dust.
He genuinely couldn’t understand how a useless fool like Jiang Li had managed to catch Feng Qi’s attention!
After the call ended, Jiang Li looked at Feng Qi and cautiously asked, “Third Uncle, you’re not just an ordinary doctor… are you?”
Feng Qi smiled and nodded. “Correct. I’m the legendary overbearing CEO, Third Master Feng, the kind who can make the Jiang family crumble overnight.”
Jiang Li was caught off guard and burst out laughing. She really hadn’t expected her usually serious uncle to crack such a joke.
Feng Qi reached out and gave her a light pat on the head. “Later, I’ll take you shopping.”
His niece didn’t just need to live beautifully—she needed to look beautiful too.
After heading out with Feng Qi, Jiang Li finally realized that she had spent the night at a residence inside the research institute compound. As they walked outside, several young people greeted Feng Qi as “Professor Feng.”
Jiang Li couldn’t help but wonder: So is Third Uncle a CEO or a professor?
If he were a CEO, why would people call him Professor Feng?
But if he was just a professor… then why was her father so afraid of him?
From the tone he used on the phone, he really did sound like the kind of overbearing CEO who could destroy a company overnight.
For a moment, Jiang Li was utterly confused.
