Chapter 1950: Direction for The Next Path
Chapter 1950: Direction for The Next Path
"Well well well well... Who do we have here?"
Zowen greeted the Emperor informally, which caused a shock to her people. It was more than shock as it turned into fear. The Magic Tower’s official apprentices tried to make eye contact with their leader, but Zowen ignored them.
The moment the Magic Tower was informed of the Emperor’s visit, Zowen prepared the welcome. No one expected the welcome would turn out like this. Everyone in the receptionist lobby was beyond shocked.
"Chill guys, His Majesty is not going to bite us," Zowen approached the Emperor in his violet robe and ridiculous hat. That had become the uniform for the magic tower as everyone wore the same thing.
The difference was the strips on their upper arm that indicated the rank. There was a complicated ranking that Zowen introduced for the magic tower apprentice. Up to seven strips and five different colors indicated ranks.
Tang Shaoyang waved his hand, "Stop this nonsense, Zowen. I am not here to have a tour but for something else."
"You heard it! You can leave guys, and I will personally attend His Majesty!" Zowen dismissed her people, and they seemed afraid to stay longer there as they dispersed as quickly as possible except for three people.
Three of them were female, and they appeared to be in their mid-twenties. He recognized quickly that they were people from the same country as him. Their black hair, black eyes, and everything.
The three bowed their heads and greeted him, to which he responded with a nod. But then, the three pulled Zowen to the side and spoke in whispers. The three rebuked Zowen and told her to act more carefully if she wanted to keep the tower. They were showing their concerns for Zowen.
Zowen let out a chuckle, "Guys, do you know that His Majesty can listen to your whispers?"
The three were shocked to hear that, their eyes widened in fear, and they kept looking back and forth between Zowen and Tang Shaoyang.
Zowen ended up pushing them away, and the three women left in a daze.
"So, what do you want if you don’t want a tour of my tower? I thought you developed some interest in magic or something for once."
She beckoned her hand at him, telling him to follow her. Even though Tang Shaoyang did not ask for a tour, she planned to give him a tour while listening to what he wanted to talk about.
"It’s for my next class, and I am thinking of incorporating a magic-related class into my fighting class as the next class. You are a magic expert, a certain magic at least, so I want your opinion since you also know how I fight."
Zowen furrowed her brow, her finger caressed her chin as she recalled the old days. She had seen Tang Shaoyang fight many times, reckless and barbaric, but each strike was a destruction. Her former master used magic for his convenience most of the time, just because he could end something faster or just for a show, an intimidation. He rarely used it in actual fights.
"What with the sudden change?" She was curious why he was thinking of magic instead of something else.
"Because I don’t know how to get myself stronger, and maybe magic will help me for a certain case, you know. If I have ever met someone that can only be killed with magic or something," Tang Shaoyang was just confused with his next path and explored options because he was faced with too many options right now.
Zowen halted her track and turned toward Tang Shaoyang, raising her right lip as if she was annoyed, "You have your ridiculously strong energy that overpowers your enemy’s energy. I don’t think you will need magic because the essence of magic itself is the energy. Magic or spells will make your energy stronger. Still, you already have the skills that help you to form a stronger attack with your powerful energy. I don’t think you need magic, or you can use your Elemental Manipulation, another form of magic."
"And it would be better if I had more variation in my arsenal. My enemy will analyze me as I continue fighting against and more forms of attacks whether it’s magic or martial arts or even another weird class will help me to secure my victory against my enemy."
[It’s time to dabble in Necromancy, Master!]
Vandir the Death King chimed in. [I am kinda curious what kind of undead will be born from your Chaos Energy...] The undead paused as his excitement channeled to Tang Shaoyang.
Tang Shaoyang could feel the undying excitement and expectation from the undead spirit. However, Tang Shaoyang did not want to dabble in necromancy when he already had the Skelly Family and the Skeleton Army as well as his spirits that kinda worked similarly to necromancy.
[Don’t compare my undead to those inferior skeletons, Master. You can’t compare a masterpiece with an inferior product!]
As soon as Vandir said that, he could feel a riot from the Skelly Family and also the Skeleton Army. He immediately cut off his connection with his spirit temporarily, and only then the skeletons calmed down.
"What’s wrong?" Zowen noticed all of this.
Tang Shaoyang shook his head, "As usual, Vandir loves to cause trouble more often now, and he tells me to dabble in necromancy instead."
The moment he mentioned necromancy, Zowen’s face turned into disgust. That was a normal reaction from a mage when necromancy was brought into the topic.
"You already have skills related to Necromancer. You should work on that instead of acquiring Necromancer Class," Despite her disgust at the necromancy, Zowen still gave genuine advice for his best interest.
Zowen was right about it, he had Necromastery, a skill that could summon undead or the skeleton as he only summoned skeletons so far. Necromastery was more like a combination of many skills. He named it Soul Harvest because he got the people’s souls he killed. Then there was also a Soul Counter, a storage, or maybe an inventory where he stored the soul.
Until now, he only used souls as tools for summoning, and he summoned skeletons with them. He had not tried anything else, maybe using some dead bodies as well. Maybe it could work, or he could create the bodies just like how Vandir messed up his dead body.
"That’s an option too, but maybe I will do it when I have time. I have killed too many people, and I have too many souls to use," He checked Soul Counter as he said that, and his face crunched with "Ooh".
"Let me think about it..." Zowen nodded, not discussing further into necromancy, "Magic that fits with your fighting style..." She muttered in a low voice.
The way Tang Shaoyang fought was the opposite of the way a mage should fight. Mage wanted to keep their distance from their enemy and fired their spell from a safe distance. That was why Blink and Instant Teleportation were two information spells for mage. She emphasized to her apprentices they needed to master that spell if they wanted to join the Tarrior.
Meanwhile, Tang Shaoyang liked to fight up close which was the opposite of mage’s fighting style. Each of his skills and sword skills were more powerful and deadly than magic spells. That was not what her former master needed. What she needed was a unique way to make him stronger and deadlier in a battle.
"Ah... the Barbarian Mage!" She remembered something in her past.
"Barbarian mage?" That sounded wrong. He could understand the wandering mage, the hedge mage, or maybe the black mage. This was the first time he heard of a barbarian mage.
"Yes, Barbarian Mage. They used spells to make their body stronger, but it’s kinda different than the conventional spells. They draw tattoos on their bodies, each part of their bodies, and they activate them during the battle to boost their power. That’s why we call them Barbarian Mage."
Tang Shaoyang was interested in this, "What kind of spells do they use? How does the spell make their body stronger?"
Zowen furrowed his brow, "It was a big breakthrough in the magic field back then. We even kidnap these barbarian mages to do research on them." She just admitted the dark truth regarding the magic tower and barbarian trafficking.
"You are not allowed to kidnap anyone for your research, Zowen. If you do it, I will destroy the mage tower with my own hands. I will not allow human experiment or any other race experiment in my empire!" Tang Shaoyang immediately reminded Zowen.
Zowen waved her hand at ease, "Don’t worry about it. I have something more amazing than a human experiment. I don’t do that when I have the System. It’s more effective to learn from the System than doing shady stuff. You can cut my head and parade it to the whole empire if that ever happens."
"And I don’t think the Barbarian Mage is good for you. How do I say it... the technique itself is obsolete and ineffective in this era when you can have someone with a support class that works the same as the Barbarian Mage."
