Chapter 846: The Leader Of The Tower
Chapter 846: The Leader Of The Tower
The door of the room opened quietly.
There was no formal announcement, no guard entered, no massive aura or display shook the sky. Just an old man in a simple robe and a wooden staff passed through the door.
But at that moment, the atmosphere of the room changed.
Not because of the pressure of power, but because of presence. A strange feeling only seen in those who had lived for thousands of years and witnessed the rise and fall of countless generations.
Serys almost immediately rose from her seat, her eyes widening slightly.
“M…Master.” When was the last time she had seen her master?
Ever since those false rumors about her had spread and she had gradually become isolated, she hadn’t seen her master.
But she never thought it was because of her master’s anger; she just attributed it to him being busy.
“It’s been a long time, Serys.” The old man gave a quiet smile.
In front of him, Daniel remained seated on the sofa.
He didn’t stand, didn’t bow, didn’t show any particular reaction. He just kept his gaze fixed on the old man.
This old man had the power of a Heavenly King, and was not at a level worthy of his respect.
The tower’s leader also noticed this, but the slightest displeasure could not be seen on his face.
On the contrary, he looked at Daniel for a long moment, as if trying to see something in him. Then he calmly sat on the chair opposite him.
“I didn’t think I would ever meet someone again who could activate the main tablet to this extent.”
A brief silence followed, then the old man’s gaze went to the window.
“How did you manage to comprehend one hundred percent of its legacy?”
Serys also unconsciously looked at Daniel.
This was the question the entire tower wanted the answer to.
“I’m too talented.” But Daniel just shrugged and said simply.
There was no pride in his tone, no arrogance. It was as if he was just stating an ordinary truth, a truth the world had recognized.
The tower’s leader said nothing at first.
“I see…” But a few seconds later, his eyes narrowed.
Serys didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. She had expected her master not to get angry, but to say “I see”? This was beyond her expectations.
But the tower’s leader had understood what Daniel truly meant.
For a brief moment, the old man felt that perhaps the knowledge this young man possessed exceeded the combined knowledge of many of the tower’s ancients.
A strange thought.
But too many strange things had happened today.
“Anyway.” The tower’s leader placed his staff on the ground.
“Today’s matter cannot be ignored.”
“Someone who has successfully received one hundred percent of the main tablet’s legacy holds a special position.”
Then he looked directly at Daniel.
“Join the tower.”
Serys blinked.
“I can personally overlook some traditions.” The tower’s leader continued.
Serys’s eyes suddenly widened. She knew better than anyone what this sentence meant.
The tower’s leader was practically offering a privilege that perhaps had been given to fewer than ten people in the entire tower’s history.
Overlooking the tower’s traditions! This was not an ordinary matter. This was something that could cause a great stir in the world.
“But I won’t join a place where I can’t become its heir.” Daniel’s answer didn’t even take a second.
The room suddenly fell into silence.
Serys was almost sure she had misheard. It took her a few seconds to process the sentence, then she slowly turned her head and stared at Daniel.
The tower’s leader also said nothing for a few moments.
“It’s not an easy task.” Then he answered quietly.
Daniel tilted his head slightly.
“Not easy?” Then a very faint smile appeared on his lips.
“So it’s not impossible.”
This time, even the tower’s leader fell silent, because logically, Daniel’s words were completely correct. If something is not impossible… then there is a way to do it.
But not being impossible doesn’t mean it’s feasible either. The matter of Lioran’s succession is not as simple as it appears on the surface.
The old man sighed quietly.
“Lioran is not an ordinary genius. He has been preparing for this position for years. Almost all the senior professors support him.”
“The Supreme Council is behind him. The tower’s students admire him.”
“And most importantly…” His gaze fell outside the window.
Where numerous flags supporting Lioran fluttered in the wind.
“He is loved.”
That one word was heavier than any explanation.
Power could be defeated. Talent could be surpassed. But popularity… is something built over the years.
“The succession ceremony will be held in two weeks.”
The tower’s leader looked at Daniel again.
“If you join the tower… and if you can change the senior professors’ opinions within these two weeks… I have no problem with it.”
Serys almost held her breath. She had expected the tower’s leader to reject Daniel’s request from the start.
But instead… a path had been left open. A path that seemed almost impossible, but existed.
And that was enough.
Because Daniel was the kind of person who, when everyone saw a wall, looked for a hidden door.
The tower’s leader rose from his seat, walked quietly to the window, and stared at the central tower for a few moments.
A tower that had been his home for hundreds of years.
“Do you know why everyone was so shocked today? Because that tablet… was created by the greatest mage in history… at least from our perspective.”
Serys and Daniel remained silent.
“That tablet was built to carry a secret. A secret that, according to that mage, could completely change the foundation of the magical world.”
“For years, we tried to access it, but none of our talent was sufficient, and we failed.”
His gaze slowly returned to Daniel.
“In my entire life, I’ve only seen one person succeed in comprehending it one hundred percent.”
A weak smile appeared on the old man’s face.
“And now I finally understand who that person was.”
A few seconds of silence passed, then the tower’s leader moved toward the door, but paused before leaving.
“I’ll prepare your membership. After that, you have only two weeks. Two weeks to change something that has been built over years.”
The door closed quietly, and the room fell into silence again.
Serys was still in shock, still unable to believe that the conversation from moments ago had been real.
But Daniel quietly looked out the window. At the flags bearing Lioran’s name, at the towers whose professors supported Lioran.
At the thousands of mages who already considered him the certain heir. And then… a very faint smile settled on his lips.
Because the tower’s leader, the Supreme Council, and even Lioran himself had made a fundamental mistake.
They thought the main problem was changing the votes of a few senior professors. They thought this was a political competition. They thought destroying popularity was impossible.
They thought the game would continue according to the current rules.
But Daniel had no interest in playing by his opponent’s rules. If Lioran was going to fall… he wouldn’t change a few people’s votes.
He would make it so that no one would dare to support Lioran anymore.
